Great vlog as always, just a reminder how stylish you can look with such great basics! For anyone struggling financially - l just bought a lovely Mango trench coat from Vinted - brand new with tags for £25 x
I started off needing to get inspired for my “capsule” wardrobe. I went down a rabbit hole of “oh, this is why I don’t like any of my clothes.” I gained weight and don’t know how to dress my shape. This has been extremely helpful. Thank you!
Would love to see things with true petite options. I’m 5’0” and very short waisted. Buying jackets/coats is so frustrating. Being very short in general means there is very little geared towards your size either in store or in any particular brands. I love your videos and greatly enjoying my new MV necklace.
Such a smart collection of trench coats, each with their own character. I love that you pop the collar with many of them, such an elegant and sexy look! ❤
Hi, nice video, congratulations, I personally consider the trench coat an indispensable item in the women's wardrobe. The numbers are very interesting: 1 - 8 - 10. Have a good day. 🌹
As a Brit living in Dubai, this video makes me desperately miss the seasons and cooler weather! Another great video thank you. Monty really is the star of the show!
Such a good collection of trench coats with thorough explanation. You really are a great teacher. I have 2 trench coats a black water resistant knee length from INC and a slightly shorter one that is more of a fashion trench from J Crew. Neighter looks like the tan ones you show here that are oversized.
The amount of work and resources you put forth to provide free content is astounding! Thank you so much! I gifted myself a Burberry trench coat for my birthday and I love it. I consider it an investment piece. And to me, your videos are not complete without a cameo appearance from Monty!
Super super helpful. Thank you. . Going to buy the first Next one, but I also like a few of the others. Decisions, decisions. Always excited to see your new videos. Just simple and clear advice with a good mix of high street and high end. 👏🏽
I get so excited to see you posted a video and have to watch it right away. Great options and appreciate that you had such a great range in style & price. With gratitude from 🇨🇦
Loved your vid. You look amazing. Yes to the Ted Baker navy blue coat that was absolutely divine but pricey. Maybe I can find a similar but cheaper one. The 10th coat was a big Nope. It reminded me of what the creature wore in the film jeepers creepers. Keep up the good work💖
I tried two from Mango and happened to be wearing boot cut jeans. I wasn’t sure about the long one with those jeans but I won’t be wearing them all the time. The knee length looked great but was a bit tighter fitting and stiffer Couldn’t decide, so came to you for inspiration! Love your vids and love pooch’s cameo appearances!
I loved the Next first one with button detail down the side, but took note of your comment about the epaulettes. My shoulders slope, so even if epaulettes are not the height of fashion right now, they definitely work for folks like me. And I’m not looking for fashion but classic and well made
Great 3 in 1 trench. I'm thinking the Short Shirt Inner Part would be perfect for shopping, running in and out of stores or restaurant especially if it gets a bit warmer out after a rain. If you prefer a longer look, for the same reasons, the Long Outer Layer (long vest/smock) without it's own sleeves would work also. TY
When I moved to London, I bought a nice trench coat with a removable insulated lining. Wore it out quickly as it would attract soot from the diesel exhaust onto the inside of the lining. If I had known what I was doing, I would have bought a car coat length black coat. I can tell you live outside of London. 🙂
I do need another trench I have two shorted one knee length and a summer fashion one, so I think a dark structured maybe. You also give great tips. Thanks
Your channel is so very helpful. Really love it, thank you! Would be v interested in tips on choosing the right tights to go with autumn/winter dresses.
Love all of these! Great video. I personally have a love/hate relationship with Zara (no.6). Their clothes seem nice at first but they often 'miss' the vibe. All the other choices are fantastic. 👍
Terrific video Melissa! I’ve treated myself to the Arket short trenchcoat , can’t wait to see how you style it. I noted that you’d wear it with flared jeans so will try that. Thank you! 👍❤️ xx
I loved this video ❤️. Some amazing trench coats, I thought the 4 in 1 from Next was so clever. Although I probably don’t need another trench coat at the moment, I fell in love with the leather KM, it looked so beautiful. Thank you once again ❤️
Love them all, just wanted ask your T-shirt looked the perfect thickness always find them see through, where is it from please? And also where is your gorgeous chair from ? Thanks , is autumn capsule coming soon too?
It’s just a H&M one and I linked it in my last video before this one. If you click on my logo then the ‘video’ tab, it will show you all my videos in date order. Hope that helps. My chair is from Homesense and yes an autumn video is being filmed this week! X
Awww thank you for another great video, Melissa! I actually got that Oasis green trench coat and I didn’t know I could make the sleeves tighter - so much easier if I want to have the sleeves up!! I will be looking much trendier now after this brilliant tip 💃😘😘😘
Thank you for the fab video Melissa. Never had a trench coat before (always wanted one though) so was excited when you said you were doing a video on one. The Next coat is so versatile so ordered it straightaway, can’t wait 😃
Great roundup. That leather trench from Karen Millen is right on the nose. I do think however that a trench that isn't rainproof is a waste of money at any price. Having said that, 'evening' versions in drapey fabrics, even satin, are rather nice. I would love a Burberry, the original trench, but way out of my price bracket, so I'm haunting vintage sites. One thing I struggle with in trenchcoats is getting them to look nice over a large bust - the stormflaps seem to add extra visual 'weight' in the wrong place.
Good luck with your search, i'm sure you'll find something. Go for a more fluid softer fabric rather than a rigid fabric if you want to minimise the effects on the bust area. x
Love your channel. I bought a trench coat around the same time but didn't see this post. It has been a life saver with some really bad rain days. Now I'm seeing other nice ones on here. Like the jeans and tee where were they from please?
Sorry but that video is really old and I must have seen several hundred coats since then! If you have a look at my more recent videos I think I included something like that in the video of Cat (large chested video). x
A few years ago, I needed a new trench and tried on some Burberry trench coats. They are VERY small across the chest and shoulders. Going up multiple sizes didn’t help much. There was no way you could put a blazer or jumper underneath. Surprising.
Fab vlog. Could you please give your opinion on the Mango coat once you get it? I’m considering getting one, I’m 5’4” so similar to yourself, and noticed that you were trying on quite a few longer lengths. I’m just wondering which length looks best
Hi Melissa I have recently found your videos on UA-cam and I am absolutely loving all of them. For two years now I have been looking for a practical yet fashionable trench / rain coat. I am small 5’2” and 105lbs, so a lot of these can overwhelm me. I love the color and shape and practicality of the #11 coat from Varley but it is so outrageously expensive I’m wondering if you have come across another coat similar to this that isn’t quite so out of my price range. P. S. Love when Monty makes an appearance. ❤
So many lovely options. #8 was definitely different and versatile. Thank you for another great video and thank you to Monty for making an appearance 😂 he is adorable
Hi Melissa, thank you so much for your videos, always a big fan of yours. Can you please make a video about petite jeans with trainers/ flats/boots please 🙏🏻Really struggling to find a good affordable pair , what doesn’t make me look 5 size bigger.Thank you so much, I would really appreciate your help💐x
I need a petite model in order to do that I’m afraid and nobody has volunteered I’m afraid. I’m classed as petite though at 5ft 3 so anything I wear should be good on yourself. X
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately I have already tried so many of jeans ( even similar one you have) , but they didn’t work for me and I can’t figure it out why :( I don’t even own one pair I like on myself xx
Thanks for a great video Melissa. I immediately ordered no 5 - the OASIS parka trench in black. Unfortunately when it arrived it was really screwed up and the fabric is so creased and crumpled. I wondered what your experience was and what your advice would be? I'm travelling next week and wanted to take it with me, would packing my steamer help do you think?
Hi Melissa! Would be interesting to hear do you have any advice or opinion about how to reduce the negative impact of fast fashion? Do you have ways to to find reowned clothing that are great quality and with great price? It would be really great if more fashion stylist were conscious about this issue and taught their clients how to work with what they already have or how to get clothing without leaving negative impact on the client and humanity.
Great video Melissa , like you I have a dog and need practicality , loved the 3 in 1 next coat so practical , what footwear do you suggest wearing with a longer trench for dog walks as my trainers not practical , would you wear a walking boot or shorter wellie ? I always struggle with styling when it comes to footwear …. Apart from my trainers . Thanks for your advice , love seeing Monty 😍
I wear a long green pair of wellington boots or a black pair of walking boots. In the summer I wear an old pair of white trainers that I don’t mind getting muddy. X
Thank you so much for this video. I struggle to find the right trenchcoat because I don't know how to decide whether I shall choose a beige one or a navy or black one. I want a basic piece that lasts a long time. Shall I decide on the basis of the color palette of my wardrobe? Thank you for help! Greetings from Germany, Andrea 😃
Yes. My new video talks about exactly this - it’s on HOW to develop an autumn capsule wardrobe and I think it’ll help you choose. It’ll be up at the weekend hopefully (just need to find the time to edit it!).
If you are able, please do a video about items that you would purchase from asos, h&m and Amazon, as those are the easiest to shop in US as they have an amazing return policy. Thank you. P.s size 6 us big 34 did bust. Thank you again.
Hi Melissa. I loved your video. Could you let me know which size you were wearing of the Varley coat please? I am 5 ft 4 with bust size 32". Just wondering if I should go for S or SX. Thank you.
It’s just a H&M one and I linked it in my last video before this one. If you click on my logo then the ‘video’ tab, it will show you all my videos in date order. Hope that helps x
Hi Melissa many thanks for the video I had not realized how nice the trench coat can look I am 5'4 ish & have always stayed clear as I thought that me being on the plus size ,the coat made me look like a ball but seeing your haul today going to start looking & trying the high street brands - I will have a budget of £100 am I optimistic for a size 16/18 ?????
Great video! I’m interested in buying no.1, looks like a fab trench, but the sleeves look a little big. I know oversized is the style, so keen to know if you found them big.
I’m in the UK and looking for a waterproof trench that is also stylish. I wish designers made coats that would keep us dry to serve their purpose during the transitional seasons. How do you manage it, Melissa? Do you just use an umbrella a lot? I have to walk to work on rainy days and it’s a challenge to stay dry, especially when it’s also windy and my umbrella is flailing everywhere.
Oh I completely agree, there are loads of fashion coats available in the shops but very few that are both stylish and practical (waterproof, have a hood etc) - I've been looking for ages and tried a number of barbour ones etc but still not found anything I really like!
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you, Melissa. I really appreciate your content and how you've compiled everything for us so well. I love the Ted Baker trench look. I wish it had a detachable hood. I was thinking maybe I just need to find a stylish rain coat 🤔(So difficult! They are usually so shapeless and make me sweaty!!)
Another great video! Sad I don't have use for them in South Texas, but to me watching your video is very relaxing. I know you have mentioned it before, but what brand are your trainers? And I love to see Monty once again!🥰😍
Me too. Single-breasted coats (& blazers) are more flattering on me, so coats 5 & 8 (more parka than trench though) and 15 (link took me to a double-breasted style, I’ll be searching the site! ; )
I know this is an older video but the first trench with hood you like best …. Is there a similar one? I assume this one would not be available. I’m a US size 4-6
I’m sorry but as you’ve seen it’s an old video. We can source things for you though. Just go to www.mmpersonalstyling.co.uk to see all of our services.
The khaki parka style was my favourite (and the link showed it came in black too) as having a large bust I find the double breasted ones are not flattering. I already have a beige trench so I loved your simple outfit and styling for the hair and the jewellery. Where is the t shirt from?
I’m only 5ft3 and a bit so firstly you can judge where they’d come on you. Then think about your lifestyle and when/where you’ll be wearing it. Hopefully the answers will help you reduce your choice. X
That navy Ted Baker trenchcoat is my dream trenchcoat. Do you think it's enough of a classic to carry off for a decade or more, even on a petite frame?
The main thing that changes in a trench is the length and the shape (straight or oversized) but the Ted Baker was a really nice classic shape and if I was to purchase one for a decade I’d definitely go for this classic shape rather than the oversized version. X
It depends where you’re wearing it (work, casually), in the countryside walking a dog, etc., etc., without knowing your lifestyle I can only give you a generic answer that a single breasted always looks good. X
Look at where the title of the video plays then underneath it you’ll either see 3 dots (press on them) or click on ‘more’. Both will reveal the description box and this is where the links are. However, as I commented before, it’s an old video so I’m not sure the links will be working now.

Try H&M - I saw a very similar one in there, it was with their gymwear pieces. x
So many lovely options. #8 was definitely different and versatile. Thank you for another great video and thank you to Monty for making an appearance 😂 he is adorable
🐶🐶🐾🐾🐾🐾
Lovely 🥰
Really useful, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Loved the Forever Young trench coat. What jeans did you have one pls.
Tomcat by Mother Jeans in Confession wash. x
That's not good. I ALWAYS take a steamer with me anyway or, just wear it to travel in!
I’ve just answered this question below xx
Great video Melissa , like you I have a dog and need practicality , loved the 3 in 1 next coat so practical , what footwear do you suggest wearing with a longer trench for dog walks as my trainers not practical , would you wear a walking boot or shorter wellie ? I always struggle with styling when it comes to footwear …. Apart from my trainers . Thanks for your advice , love seeing Monty 😍
I wear a long green pair of wellington boots or a black pair of walking boots. In the summer I wear an old pair of white trainers that I don’t mind getting muddy. X
#10 my first thought was Sherlock Holmes! All you need is a magnifying glass to complete the look 😉
You’re so right!
Yes that was my first thought too! 🤣
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you, Melissa. Looking forward to the new video! 😃👍 Greetings, Andrea
Love your video!. Where are your jeans from please they look so lovely on you?? Xx
Thankyou xx
They’re from Mother, tomcat style, wash is confession.
Beautiful trench coats 🙏🏼 thank you. Wish you reviewed toteme trench 😢❤️
Generally speaking It's too costly for my audience and i'm mindful of the cost of living crisis so trying to keep things achievable for most people. x
Thank you.
Mine is a size small and I’m 5ft 3 )and a bit) and a 34c. Because there’s a draw string you can create shape around the waist. X
Hi Melissa. I love the t-shirt you are wearing. I can never find one that is quality . Which brand would you recommend? Thank you
It’s just a H&M one and I linked it in my last video before this one. If you click on my logo then the ‘video’ tab, it will show you all my videos in date order. Hope that helps x
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you 😊
Hi Melissa many thanks for the video I had not realized how nice the trench coat can look I am 5'4 ish & have always stayed clear as I thought that me being on the plus size ,the coat made me look like a ball but seeing your haul today going to start looking & trying the high street brands - I will have a budget of £100 am I optimistic for a size 16/18 ?????
No, not at all. Most of the ones shown are under £100 and go up to your size. X
Great video! I’m interested in buying no.1, looks like a fab trench, but the sleeves look a little big. I know oversized is the style, so keen to know if you found them big.
A little big but I would go down a size in that coat anyway. I was wearing a size 10 but needed a size 8.
I'd go for one of the Next ones or the Ted Baker ones that are water resistant. Both re super stylish. x
I'm in Scotland and I bought a golf umbrella they're much sturdier for over my coat😊
What a great video! Could you please share where your blazer and jeans are from?
As always, everything is linked for you. You'll find the UK links under the description box. The US links are in the first comments box. x
Another great video! Sad I don't have use for them in South Texas, but to me watching your video is very relaxing. I know you have mentioned it before, but what brand are your trainers? And I love to see Monty once again!🥰😍
They’re from Veja xx 😘
@@mmpersonalstyling Thank you!😘
I bought the Sézane in navy this summer so haven’t had a chance to wear. What do you think of the Sézane trench?
It's actually just arrived. Great quality coat but not long enough for my personal tastes but a really lovely coat. x
I love trench coats but as a plus (UK 18) I always feel like they make me look HUGE! any tips?
Wear them longer and this will elongate your frame. x
Hi Melissa.. im thinking of getting the navy ted baker trench coat.. was it the UK 10 that you got or UK8? Thanks in advance
It was a uk size 8. It’s a gorgeous coat… x
The khaki parka style was my favourite (and the link showed it came in black too) as having a large bust I find the double breasted ones are not flattering. I already have a beige trench so I loved your simple outfit and styling for the hair and the jewellery. Where is the t shirt from?
It’s just a H&M one and I actually linked it in the last video I did (before the trench coat one). X
How about the leather trench coat
They’re lovely however I don’t know which one would go for a petite like me? I’m 5’1 🙁
@@mmpersonalstyling Thank you!
Can you do an updated trench coat video as most of these are now out of stock!!
It’s an old video I’m afraid but I’m sure I’ll be covering trench coats at some point again x
I liked number 5 where I get this trendcoat
Everything is linked on the description box but that’s an old video so I doubt the items are still available I’m afraid.
That forever young coat looked so much better on you than on the model. I loved it until I looked on the website 🤷♀️
Oh thank you! Well don't let that stop you!
Where should the lowest button sit? I bought a long trench coat and I’m 5”2. The lowest button is midway between my hip and knee.
There’s no rule on that…
Which coat is best suited for those of us who are larger in bust and stomach?!
It depends where you’re wearing it (work, casually), in the countryside walking a dog, etc., etc., without knowing your lifestyle I can only give you a generic answer that a single breasted always looks good. X
Drizabone is reeally water resistant 😀
That’s the brand i was trying to think of in the video, thank you!
How can I order number5 trendcoat. Please
Look at where the title of the video plays then underneath it you’ll either see 3 dots (press on them) or click on ‘more’. Both will reveal the description box and this is where the links are. However, as I commented before, it’s an old video so I’m not sure the links will be working now.
What a nice lady. ❤❤
