Thank you! It’s so funny because she’s just text me saying that she wished she’d brushed her hair as she felt it looked a right mess!!! What you couldn’t see on the video is that it was the wettest day in uk history that day so we both like a pair of drowned rats by the end of it 😂😂😂
@KT: Totally agree! As to her haircut; since I'm contemplating a new hair style and though I'm much older (I'm 75 years old) I actually took a few still screen shots of it to show my hairdresser as am wanting something that looks youthful but still appropriate for my age.
@@mmpersonalstyling well she certainly looked fabulous for the styling portion! Include her in more of your videos and shopping vlogs. I enjoyed seeing her in this video plus you might have older viewers who will appreciate a visual of how an item will look on a mature lady.
Hello from California. Thank you for this video. The comparisons on the different body types is helpful. I also liked in previous videos when you explain how certain design elements work or don’t work for some body types. For example, do the horizontal lines in the puffer coat make a round person look more round? Is it better to go for a single row of buttons or double row? Slant pockets or patch pockets? Etc. Cheers!
Your mum looks great! She’s a couple of years older than me. Nothing looked too young for her. Her hair is looking fabulous, the cut and colour are perfect. She’s rocking it👏👏👏
Your mum is beautiful! As a fellow petite, I find that many regular size coats are not only too long, which a tailor can remedy, but as with the lapels on the blue coat your mother tried on, often major style elements are just too large for my frame. Another issue with "regular" sizes is that the waist may fall in the wrong place and the sleeves are too long. I usually buy sizes marked "petite" because they just fit better, and a good fit looks higher quality, but the selection available in petite sizes is far less than that for regular sizes. I love your channel and have found your videos on capsule wardrobes some of the most helpful on youtube. Thank you!
I love the way you’re now doing a recap during the video and showing where the items come from . It makes it a lot easier to remember a particular garment . Thank you so much for all your research and such good advice 👏
Wonderful to see your Mum again, she's so lovely! She seems to be enjoying being in your videos ;) Love the Cornwall Seasalt collection, the Janelle coat is great. So good to see happy Monty in the countryside, such a good looking pup!
I live in Virginia and it still in the 90s here, almost 100 degrees! But I am so excited for colder weather and I am so happy I found you because you are helping me be much more mindful about my wardrobe choices.
Love this! My daughter has banned me from buying anymore green clothes and stripped jumpers or I’d be tempted. Your mum is lovely and I thought the pale blue coat on her was exquisite xx
As I live in Italy i always look for puffer 3/4 length jackets with zips that can be adjusted not only on the top but from the bottom. I need that option to be able to sit on my 🛵☺️. Love the camel coat options if I'm walking around the town 💞
Loved this , great to see your mum , she’s so stylish , thank you so much for all your great advise and style tips , some great coats in there ❤🎉 and I brought the reiss coat you are wearing in the sale after you mentioned it …. I absolutely love it ❤
What a FUN video! If I didn’t live in Florida I’d have bought 4 or 5 of these fabulous finds! Love the royal blue and pink options to brighten long winter days and the long green vest is classy & unique. The Lily is such a great day coat I’m sure I’d reach for every day for style and functionality plus the puffer for extreme weather. Your choices are fire 🔥. Definitely the ankle bootie. Absolutely loved your Mom!! Her smile and sweet personality shines through. What a beautiful lady inside and out. Enjoy every moment together ❤❤
Hi Melissa I’m the same age as your Mum so really appreciate this video with your Mum in it. Great styling tips for the more mature woman. I absolutely loved your pink hat as a pop of colour. I also loved the blue coat on your Mum.
Can’t wait for the “twinning” jeans video!!! So excited! I am 5F9 and a UK 12/14, so looking forward to see how the same jean look on both you and Clare👏🏻
Loved this. As someone who lives on the countryside but also want to look and feel stylish. Also so helpful seeing coats on your mom who is petite, as I love oversize but feel like I’m drowning in certain items without knowing why.
Beautiful coats. Your mom looks amazing in blue and that pink coat on you is fabulous 😍. I'm 5'9" and a size 8-10, I have never found sleeves that are too long on me 🙄😂😂😂. We all have something that we have to work with.
Thanks for another great video Melissa and like all the comments, I love your mum! What a stunning lady, just like you! And welcome to Claire, look forward to seeing you in future xx
Well, this was a real pleasure to watch, gotta say Melissa! I made a beeline to organise a cup of tea or 6, and just lapped it all up whilst my husband was out doing the errands. Result! The video was extra long too so plenty of great looks and advice, which is really helpful as I actually do need a new coat. There are so many styles I fancy that I may need to invest in more than one. Your Mum…she is looking stunning and I’m sure she’s ageing backwards which bodes well for you in the future! 😉 Love seeing the same items on you 3 girls with your different heights and frames. Thank you for what you do…it must be a lot of work…I hope everyone who watches subscribes because you really do deserve it.
What a lovely message, thank you so much 😊. There’s a new video out today showing us trying on different jeans, some on me, some on my other stylists who are all different sizes and shapes. Hope you enjoy! X
Really enjoyed your video, I loved the new format, it was much more uses friendly and I loved seeing your Mum again. I agree with the previous comment, your Mum’s hair looked so stylish and elegant. Looking forward to the next update. Thank you
Thanks for featuring your mom in this video. I am a petite as well and I was wondering who makes the jeans your mom is wearing. I'm under 5' and struggle with jeans. The jeans she has on, look great on her. Your assessment of the coats is spot on. Large pockets, buttons and lapels make us appear short even if you shorten the hem. Thanks again for all your styling advice!
You both look lovely in these coats and jackets. Love your mum's hair! 😍 I'm 5'4" and a UK size 12-14, I find many coats and jackets are too long including the sleeves. Any adjustable cuffs etc are a good idea. Thanks again.
Thank you for another great video. I bought the black boots from this video and the Varley coat a while back from a different video. Your videos are the best. I've made many fashion mistakes on my 5'1" pear shaped frame, so I eagerly wait for your mentions that help me shop. You're the best!
I would love to know if you purchased any of them and see how you would style them. I tend to not wear coats like these because I feel like I look too formal. Also, you and your mom are gorgeous and just seem to radiate positivity! Love your videos!
Thank you. I did purchase quite a few of them that you’ll see me styling up over on Instagram. In fact, right now I’m wearing the green shacket from M&S!
Rushed out to Sea salt and bought the waterproof blue coat!! It felt lovely on and your styling advice was spot on for me! Thank you for doing this much needed video 😊 … oh and the sales assistant at Sea Salt was delighted when I explained that you, a ‘stylist’ that I follow on youtube, recommended it!! I love it!! Now I need a camel coat as well! Loving the look of the Reis one, but have to find out if it is cruelty free 🤞🏽(we avoid animal cruelty).
Loved the vlog! I live in Michigan in the US so coats are required pretty much 6 months out of the year. Now as a follow up you should do boots & booties🌬❄️☃️💦☔️🌨
Love your mom! Also love how tall you look next to her as my mom and I have the same height difference (almost exactly the same heights) and I have always felt huge because Im so much taller than her!
Hi Melissa...I admit it..I am a coataholic!!! I love jackets and coats. I have so many but then watching this I want a light blue, a pink winter coat, a tan long coat. I have an Anne Klein like the one you and your mom tried on..the one u first put the pink hat with. I like that one when it is mildly cold. I guess I am in trouble...want to shop for more colors. Your mom looks even younger than last time. I am 5'2" so watching how even coats can make you look taller and slimmer or they can make us look dumpy and shorter. I did not think she was too old for the bomber. I would not like the plaid either because I have hips that I try to disguise when possible. Thank you Melissa..you tried on a million coats for us. Your hair is longer and looks great.. You and your mom are both beautiful "girls." Lucky for me my hubby has lots of coats add jackets too, so he can not complain if I get a few more.♡♡♡♡
You sound just like my mum and I - we have way too many coats too but they’re the key to successful dressing in the autumn/winter here in the uk! So add some colour into your life if your budget allows it! Thanks for watching it x
Thanks so much. Love your videos. Great to have your mother, she’s a great model. Can we see her in party wear for Christmas??? Thanks looking forward to the jeans video…
I’ve been inspired to sort out my coats (I have far to many) and invest in one of the sea salt options but I also love the long padded coats I’ll keep my fingers crossed that they come up in the sale ❤
Your mom I darling, just as you are. You both also share the same lovely laugh. I’m wondering if any of these stores carry petite sizing. It seems that would remedy some of the excess fabric and length.
I love the look of the coats. I’m thinking I still have to be careful that the outfit underneath can stand on its own. Our weather is not cold enough to leave coats on for too long but I do love the look.
Another great video!! I love it when you put your Mother in. First of all she's adorable but secondly and selfishly, I'm 4'11" and about the same size so it really helps. It's interesting that she liked the wide lapel coats because I always thought I should stay away from them. Could you explain what a wide lapel does to a frame as opposed to a narrow lapel? I'm looking forward to your next video. I learned so much.
I love your videos and recommend them to all my friends-I love it when you include your mum as I am a similar height and take note on everything you suggest for her. You both look fabulous! Can I ask where your mum’s white jumper is from please?
A big thank-you from me Melissa I am currently looking to up date my camel coat (or change it) & you have given me some sort of ideas of what is "out there" on the high street - Your video's are like having my own personal stylist. I am looking forward to tomorrow's video as I can never get a pair of jeans that are comfortable & classy at the same time. so hopefully it will give me some tips
Great video with so much content. Lovely to see your mum again, she looks great in the bright blue coat. I had high hopes of finding something amazing as I'm similar age and height (4' 11.75"). Sadly you pretty much confirmed that there's not much out there for us little people. M&S rarely do anything petite these days and my city has lost John Lewis, Debenhams and Hse of Fraser etc since the pandemic so I really struggle finding petite fit anywhere. Online is often hit and miss so I find myself always wearing short puffa jackets at this time of year 🙁.
@@mmpersonalstyling Thank you for the tip about online availability. I do hope you didn't think I was criticising your video. It's the shops that are at fault. I recently ordered 2 trench coats from Debenhams. Both said petite and both were huge, long sleeves, waist too low. I looked like inch high private eye 😄This has put me off a bit but maybe it's just that particular style isn't for me. I'll keep trying though.
Hi Melissa, I think your mum looked fab in that pink coat. I tried the Cos camel coat on in a size small, it was quite big, I'm nearly 5ft 9in and it was long on me too! Do you remember what size you tried? Thanks for another great video x
Really nice video thank you so much Melissa ❤ I’m following you from Belgium!! May I ask what brand of jeans your beautiful mom had on in this video please? She’s such a sofisticated beautiful woman 🥰
Hi Melissa did you ever try the regatta heated coats . I bought one last year. You charge up the battery pack it heats up around top area . I always hate the cold ❄️ 🥶 . I'm a summer girl !!! Ps your mum is beautiful like you xx
Your mom is adorable! So glad that you did this video with her. Can you dress her one day?? I am 5’ tall and would love your suggestions on how to style us shorties. Also, I was told that I am an inverted triangle leaning towards an hourglass. Does that mean I shouldn’t wear shoulder pads as you’ve often suggested? Thank so much! Lauren from Beverly Hills 😊
It’s hard to tell without seeing you but just look in the mirror, look at your widest point then re-create the hourglass figure using clothes starting with this widest point. So, if your shoulders are the widest point then you need to increase the width of your hips so they’re aligned with your shoulders. Have a look at the recent ‘apron’ stomach video where this concept is explained better. As for my mum, I have dressed her on here before, here’s the link for you and thank you for watching x ua-cam.com/video/rdMVa9VxZPQ/v-deo.html
Life saver! I literally came into the comments to see of anyone had tips on where to get the blue coat....I love it (as I do this video, which has now cost me £400 ooops, I bought the boots and 1st seasalt coat too, you make everything look so good!!) Xx
@@karenbonnar8648 she makes everything look so good. Sadly my order arrived today but on trying it on I look like a 7yr old boy who is wearing his dad's coat. I'm a true 12, and ordered a 12, but its huge. Oh well. £99 'Melissa vouchers' back in the account to spend on something else lol. I hope you have better luck with it xx
Greetings from Canada and so enjoyed this shopping excursion with your Mother. As to the coats themselves, something I would appreciate is, if you could mention the weight of them as I have donated a few of my winter ones (namely woolen blends) as find since I'm now up in age unlike Down filled, they are just too heavy. Thankyou and hopefully that makes sense.
Hi. Great video. I have a fitted grey wool coat but it has a fur collar in the shape of a V front. Is that considered old fashioned now? Should i be thinking of replacing it? Thank you
It’s a very classic look so if you’re wearing it for more dressy occasions then great but for more day to day you may want to update it. Don’t get rid of it though, they always come back round x
Thank you, I really like your videos. I'm curious about UK sizing. I am interested in the Lill Cove jacket. I'm a U.S. size 4, 34C bust. I wondered why you took a size 10, rather than a size 8. Was it to make more room for thicker jumpers?
I usually go up to account for jumpers but I’m actually going to go up two sizes to a uk 12 in this cost as it was still a little tight when wearing a big jumper so I’d definitely recommend sizing up, rather than down. I hope that helps x
I bought a cream CK winter puffer parka with black zipper. Is that in style to match cream color jacket with black zipper, or should I return it? I have doubts. I love you both laughing and joking together🥰❣️ So many beautiful options❣️🥰
Hi Melissa. Thank you for these lovely recommendations. Could i ask what size you take in the Varley legings and top? (I think i am a similar size to you.)
Sure. I wear a small in the bottoms and a medium in the top, which is quite strange for me as it’s usually the other way around but I fin their tight tops to come in quite small so I go up a size instead. Hope that helps!
Hi ,my name is Christine from the USA. I LOVE ALL a your videos! I was thinking of buying the long puffer from Arket. My measurements are in inches 35.5, 28.5, 39.5 respectively. According to their chart I am a medium. My height is only 5 feet 2 inches. Would this puffer overwhelm me?
I really like the various options you presented. I appreciate you mentioning petite sizing, but I am not clear why you aren’t selecting petite options for your Mum right from the start. You also fall within the petite height range, some of the coats would have fit you better in a petite size 🌟

I disagree, I think that ger coars look fantastic on a short frame, maybe just a princess heel, but long really lengthens, the shirt length cuts her legs. I'd go with the longer
Always love your content ! I like your mum struggle to get the right coat length as iam so short and a 14/16 so what I find when I buy petite is sometimes the width as well as the length is compromised too ! Boden or Karen millen , m&s petite do not do this but next sometimes do . I dont suit oversized on the shoulders or arms as it adds too much bulk and wont buy dropped sleeves I like the fitted shoulder and raglan sleeved jumper as more flattering . Can you do a petite range but for a size 16 as petite isnt always small both ways if you know what I mean . Your amazing at what you do and I have learnt some great tips !!! xxx
I noticed all the wool coats you selected had large patch pockets and/or double breasted buttons, is that all the fashion now, because that really adds weight to us larger women.
Mom looks so sophisticated and stylish! Her haircut is gorgeous on her.
Thank you! It’s so funny because she’s just text me saying that she wished she’d brushed her hair as she felt it looked a right mess!!! What you couldn’t see on the video is that it was the wettest day in uk history that day so we both like a pair of drowned rats by the end of it 😂😂😂

Great Video, lots of great information. Your channel is the best. I am a plus size inverted triangle, my style has improved since watching you.
That’s great to hear, I’m pleased it’s helping x
Love your mum, she looks more 62 than 72. That Zara coat looks super on her.
She’ll love that, thank you!!
Thanks so much. Love your videos. Great to have your mother, she’s a great model. Can we see her in party wear for Christmas??? Thanks looking forward to the jeans video…
I’ll ask her!
@@mmpersonalstyling Thanks...i am a UK 8 I think Your mum is about the same..love her style...
I’ve been inspired to sort out my coats (I have far to many) and invest in one of the sea salt options but I also love the long padded coats I’ll keep my fingers crossed that they come up in the sale ❤
It’s Black Friday coming up so hopefully there will be some discounts to be had then x
Your mom I darling, just as you are. You both also share the same lovely laugh. I’m wondering if any of these stores carry petite sizing. It seems that would remedy some of the excess fabric and length.
Thank you. They do but not in store, only online (apart from River island) x
So helpful! I'm in the market for a good/stylish raincoat. Thanks for all the good info.
You’re very welcome x
I love the look of the coats. I’m thinking I still have to be careful that the outfit underneath can stand on its own. Our weather is not cold enough to leave coats on for too long but I do love the look.
Thank you for the video Melissa, and your mum is gorgeous! x
I’m looking forward to the jeans video not that I need anymore but Im after a cropped pair that I can wear with my new chunky boots
There’s loads of cropped versions in there x
Love these - I’m def shopping wiser- but how do u decide on what to declutter ?
Have a look at my ‘how to create a capsule wardrobe video’, it may help you start the process. X
I just bought the reiss camel coat it's beautiful 😍
Oh good, glad you love it, it’s real wardrobe classic x
Another great video!! I love it when you put your Mother in. First of all she's adorable but secondly and selfishly, I'm 4'11" and about the same size so it really helps. It's interesting that she liked the wide lapel coats because I always thought I should stay away from them. Could you explain what a wide lapel does to a frame as opposed to a narrow lapel? I'm looking forward to your next video. I learned so much.
Of course; the wide lapel will broaden my mum on top which in turn balances out her hips and puts her back into the hourglass shape. X
Hopefully it will be out on Sunday (although we did run into some technical issues yesterday with it) so fingers crossed we can resolve these today!
Lovely video can you do a every day boot video Tks
Your mum is beautiful 💐Can you recommend more affordable , but still stylish and waterproof raincoats please? Thank you so much 🙏🏻💐
Try the supermarkets, Asda, sainsburys and Tescos all do some really great ones.
Thank you so much 😘Have a wonderful day 💐xx
Great video with so much content. Lovely to see your mum again, she looks great in the bright blue coat. I had high hopes of finding something amazing as I'm similar age and height (4' 11.75"). Sadly you pretty much confirmed that there's not much out there for us little people. M&S rarely do anything petite these days and my city has lost John Lewis, Debenhams and Hse of Fraser etc since the pandemic so I really struggle finding petite fit anywhere. Online is often hit and miss so I find myself always wearing short puffa jackets at this time of year 🙁.
Most of the coats shown are available in petite online (unfortunately not in the shops though). Good luck with it x
That’s good to know, I thought it was just me! I wearing a size small in it. The Reiss one fitted much better on my frame. X
Really nice video thank you so much Melissa ❤ I’m following you from Belgium!! May I ask what brand of jeans your beautiful mom had on in this video please? She’s such a sofisticated beautiful woman 🥰
Thank you! She’s wearing a bootcut jean from Next. X
I always want to know the materials in the items. I hate acrylic and love wool. Can you please mention them the next time?
If you follow the links to the items you like you can see the fabric composition for yourself. X
These are beautiful! What length of coat do you recommend when wearing long/full length dresses and skirts?
As long as possible - ankle or mid calf at least....
Thanks!
Hi Melissa did you ever try the regatta heated coats . I bought one last year. You charge up the battery pack it heats up around top area . I always hate the cold ❄️ 🥶 . I'm a summer girl !!! Ps your mum is beautiful like you xx
No I haven’t but it sounds fab, thanks for sharing x
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Will check out both videos! Xx
Just spotted the Blue River Island coat on Next for anyone who cannot get to a store. Great video as usual 😍
Ohhh, thanks for sharing that, good spot 👍
Life saver! I literally came into the comments to see of anyone had tips on where to get the blue coat....I love it (as I do this video, which has now cost me £400 ooops, I bought the boots and 1st seasalt coat too, you make everything look so good!!) Xx
I ordered it too, Melissa is amazing I love her videos 🫶🏻
@@karenbonnar8648 she makes everything look so good. Sadly my order arrived today but on trying it on I look like a 7yr old boy who is wearing his dad's coat. I'm a true 12, and ordered a 12, but its huge. Oh well. £99 'Melissa vouchers' back in the account to spend on something else lol. I hope you have better luck with it xx
I was the same as you very oversized it’s going back 🙄
Greetings from Canada and so enjoyed this shopping excursion with your Mother.
@@mmpersonalstyling Many thanks!
Hi Melissa.. the last coat that you tried on from Reiss, what size was it? Thanks.
It was a uk size 10
I bought a cream CK winter puffer parka with black zipper.
Is that in style to match cream color jacket with black zipper, or should I return it? I have doubts.
I love you both laughing and joking together🥰❣️ So many beautiful options❣️🥰
It sounds nice to me, especially if you’re teaming it with black boots… x
@@mmpersonalstyling Great idea. Thank you. ❣️🥰❣️
Great as always, Could you tell me where your black boots are from, please?
They’re from schuu but a few years ago.
@@mmpersonalstyling thank you! Much appreciated.
Poor mum, I feel her pain as I am short also. Always drowning in clothes and the petite section always look badly designed. : (
Hiya sweetie, What jeans is your mum wearing .love your vlogs Xx
She’s wearing the next, lift and shape bootcut jeans. My next video is all about jeans if that helps, it will go up next Sunday. X
I’m 5ft 3 and it didn’t overwhelm me so I think you’d be ok. X
Thanks!
I really like the various options you presented. I appreciate you mentioning petite sizing, but I am not clear why you aren’t selecting petite options for your Mum right from the start. You also fall within the petite height range, some of the coats would have fit you better in a petite size 🌟
Because they aren’t available in the nicer styles in store!
@@mmpersonalstyling that’s a real bummer, I do see that in the USA as well. Time to call in the tailor, which adds to the expense of the garment!!!
I clicked on the link but don't see the Plant Hunter 2, just the Plant Hunter and the style seems different.
We noticed this; it says play hunter 2 on the tag but on the website it was just the plant hunter that we ordered. X
Hi where is the cream coat from that you have on over your gym set , thanks x
H&M - I’ve linked it on the board for you
Hi, where is the Pink coat from pls?
Everything is linked for you and if that particular coat couldn’t be found online then we link it under the ‘similar’ section. If you’re in uk follow this link www.moonsift.com/collection/mm_personal_styling2022/j0xqZY7iB7r7JrgAO63y

Your amazing at what you do and I have learnt some great tips !!! xxx
I find that if you are short and want to button up a coat it is better to buy single breasted than double.
I noticed all the wool coats you selected had large patch pockets and/or double breasted buttons, is that all the fashion now, because that really adds weight to us larger women.
It honestly doesn’t. The theory will tell you that but if the rest of the styling is done correctly then it won’t, I promise you x
@@mmpersonalstyling I appreciate and respect your opinions. Thank you for making these videos 😊
