    ---------------------------------------------------------
    INGREDIENTS for the Berta Jay's
    Ground TOFU
    --------------------------------------------------------- PREHEAT OVEN to 375°F
    1. Drain (but not completely) 1 block of Extra Firm TOFU (I use my hands to squeeze out the water)
    2. Tear tofu into pieces with your hands into a bowl and SET ASIDE.
    3. Add the following ingredients into a small bowl:
    a. 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
    b. 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder (I used granulated garlic)
    c. 3/4 teaspoon onion powder (I used granulated onion)
    d. ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
    e. 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
    f. ½ teaspoon salt (I used Himalayan)
    g. 3/4 teaspoon smokey paprika
    h. 1½ teaspoons parsley flakes
    i. ½ teaspoon dried basil
    4. Stir these ingredients together very well.
    5. Sprinkle this spicy mix over the set-aside tofu.
    6. With clean hands, "squeeze and mix" the spicy mix into the tofu until this mixture looks crumbly.
    7. Spread this spicy mix onto a parchment-lined baking pan. Be sure to spread in a thin layer with any mounds or clumps of tofu.
    8. Place baking pan into the preheated oven. Bake for 25 minutes for a soft and chewy texture - OR - 30-35 minutes if you prefer a harder, crunchy texture. Stir at half-time and place tofu back in the oven to complete the baking.
    9. That's it...ENJOY!
This recipe was adapted from Simnett Nutrition here on UA-cam.

      ua-cam.com/video/aunkpHU1Cs4/v-deo.html
Not sure if you've seen it or remember it because I did it 3 years ago as well on a recent Live Show.

Hi Ms Berta!! I've never tried tofu this way but didn't hesitate to try it after watching your video! The toasted tofu crumbles are delicious! I did something a little different for making tacos mainly because all I had on hand was the corn tortillas. I reheated the crumbles in some homemade tomato-based salsa & added some additional spices like smoked paprika, both chile and ancho chili powders along with a pinch of oregano and a little fresh jalapeno for just a little heat.. The toasted tofu crumbles absorbed both the liquid and the flavors. I used that mixture as a replacement for the ground beef in the tacos and built them by adding shredded cheese, chopped lettuce, sliced avocado, topped with a little more salsa and a squeeze or two of lime juice!.The toasted tofu tacos were delicious! They were such a hit with my crew, I'm experimenting with using the toasted tofu crumbles as a meat replacement the next time I make sloppy joes. Thanks for another video, Ms Berta and for sharing another delicious "recipe"!
