@@DarrenYeoYT No wonder the SP31V3 is priced higher than the SC31T and the SC31 Pro! Buck driver is a selling point and it also costs more than unregulated FETs at the factory. 🤔
Those are good runtimes. Looks like it's somewhere in the range of 700-800 lumens after the stepdowns. Improved over the v2 - based on the runtime graphs I've seen the v2 was more around 400-500 lumens sustained. Good to see that at least they didn't downgrade the driver, which I know some fans were worried about.
@@davidmcdonagh74 I had to look up runtime graphs for the olight mini but it looks like you're right. The Olight mini has a sustained output of about 400+ lumens, which isn't bad, but that's a $90 light compared to this one which is about $30. Such great value off the Sofirn.
That's just great. Just as I thought I had all the flashlights I wanted you just had to dangle the SP31V3 right in front of me. 🔦😭 As far as 18650 EDC throwers go, how does this fare against my FC13 (SFT40), SC31 Pro, TD02 and FC12, mate?
Haha. Well this would be closer to the FC12 in terms of tactical UI (half press momentary shortcut to turbo) but the beam itself would be similar to the TD02. I prefer the FC12 but wish it had a regulated driver. There is also the Sofirn SC31T. SC31Pro is an Anduril side switch light.
@@DarrenYeoYT Just letting you know that I decided to buy the FC12 and TD02 since you mention them quite often in your comments section. 🙂 I started off by covering 21700 based Wurkkos/Sofirn tactical FLs, while the SC31 Pro was my first 18650 torch because it has Anduril 2. Then came the TD04/SP35T followed by the FC13 twins. Have you ever done a video pitting the FC12, FC13 (SFT40), SC31 Pro, SC31T, SC29 and the SP31V3 against one another?
@@DarrenYeoYT Kool I think the yellow tint would drive me nuts 😆 🤣 😂 thinking this will be my first torch 🔦 just wish the moonlight mode was one step oh well can't have it all thanks for getting back
Yeah there are tons of alternatives, but olight has things like magnetic charging, longer warranty, some unique designs. All of these are bonuses of course
I have a couple O lights and honestly I’m not thrilled. The lumen rating seems exaggerated but according to test they are supposed to be legit. Honestly I’d buy Fenix over olight.
I always wished my SC31 pro came with that button on the butt.. my go to light, along with my convoy s2+ with sft40. Love your reviews man.
Thank you bro, the SC31T had that feature but this one is better, has a buck driver and throws further.

Yeah it's excellent value with the buck driver and improved design. Would take this over the SC31T.
And yes, Barry said that it around 800 lumens sustained
Is that not way better output than the olight warrior mini?

Just ordered this ,, thanks for the discount code 👍👍👍, great review,, thanks
You're welcome mate! Cheers.
Things to get better.. Sft40 3000k 95cri ( just like new convoy s2+ ), unscrew bezel usb port, moonlight 1 lumen mode. Maybe a 21700 version too
Man I have a spare 3000K SFT40 I'm tempted to swap in...
I wish it had a deep carry clip. My SC31T Pro has the same flaw.
Might be able to find one from another light that will fit...

If this is in your top 3 tactical flashlights, what are the other 2?
I can give you a few: Wurkkos FC12, TD04 and convoy S8. Those are my fav budget 'tactical' EDC lights.
@@DarrenYeoYT would you consider a video of these three flashlights directly compared side to side?
Hi sc28 is better than sc31?
It's brighter but I'm not sure if it's better - haven't got one.
Is the beam shine a yellow tint or is that just because of the grass reflection?
It's the grass. Though I think you can get this light in warmer tints. 4000K appears yellowish.

is it better than wurkkos fc12?
Better than fc12 in all aspect except the LED
@@louisarturo5625 so the sft40 in wurkkos fc 12 is better? Why? Just throw?
I'd take this over the FC12 as it has a buck driver, similar throw, smaller and metal side switch.
But yeah, would be better with SFT40. And Barry from Sofirn said he may release a version with that.
@@gulumutschki since it is a tactical light, it would make more sense if they use a higher candela emitter.
Will a Thyrm Switchback fit?
Yeah apparently it's compatible with switchbacks but I don't have one to test/ confirm.

@@whatfreedom7I like fenix.. I ended up with a sofirn sp31 v3 and a acebeam pokelit AA both for 50 very happy with them so far
How do you lock this out? 🤔
Unscrew the tailcap slightly. Same deal with lights with a mechanical switch
Awesome! Thanks 👍
Yeahh buck driver. Nice sofirn
Yeah finally!
A SST40 and not a SFT40, no thanks I will pass.
They put SFT70s in their dive lights, wish they'd start using them for their normal lights.
Why is that?
