Spectacular! Amethyst is my birthstone and one of my favorite colors. I'm just getting into resin art and am devouring your videos! Thank you for such great tutorials.
I love the sense of perfection you bring to your art. Truly a beautiful piece. Well organized and narrated video. You have a new fan! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
This tutorial was excellent and your talent in artistry is a gift. I know this tutorial is not new but I’m just getting started with resin and thought you should know your efforts are truly still appreciated. Thank you.
Beautiful Geode! This is an excellent tutorial! It was helpful to see the prep and finishing work you did. I always hear people talking about taking the tape off an hour after pouring to get a nice edge. I watch a lot of tutorials but this is the first time I've actually seen it done and explained in a UA-cam video. Your tips will save me a lot of time and headache when I start doing bigger paintings. Thank you for taking the time to film and share this. Cheers from Nova Scotia 🙂
I've been pouring resin for a few years, and have made a couple of geodes, but I have learned so much from your videos! I appreciate your thorough explanations and inspiration! All of your pieces are stunning!
Love this a brilliant tutorial as I am new to resin learnt a lot you gave me confidence I feel like giving this ago your so talented love your art thank you for sharing with us great job
Thanks so much April 😊. I had a lot of fun making it and watching how it progressed. It is available if you are interested - www.moonkusserart.com/product-page/geode-amethyst 💜
Sooo beautiful!! Do you do another resin coat over the paint pens? I thought posca pens can scratch away over resin and need a flood coat over. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and knowledge
I did not do a clear flood coat. You are correct in Posca pens have that issue on smooth glossy surfaces. Areas on this piece have a slight texture from the products used and seem to be holding the pen lines well even during cleaning (light dusting). Thank you for your question and watching my videos.😊
Absolutely beautiful,my favorite color is purple and in December 2017 after my momma passed away i found out that her favorite color was also purple. :)
Priming the board seals it. Wood is fibrous and will hold pockets of air. If it is not sealed the air in the wood is released into the resin creating bubbles in your project. Wood will also absorb moisture in the environment which can cause warping of the board.
Hi Janet....i am Wondering...do you let your resin thicken up a bit before you do the rings? I would think that the resin would start traveling, since it is self-leveling... thanks for the help.
Hi Cathy. The resin did start to thicken due to length of time to work. Check out this video - ua-cam.com/video/_frXTCyQAvI/v-deo.html I have a trick to keeping the rings where I want them.
Thank you Iffat. 😊 I did not clear coat over markers. I used ones that are oil based and stay put. If I use Posca markers I clear coat because they are acrylic paint and can rub off.
Hi, I just had a question and would be lovely if you can help. My geodes all need a top coat, but my pieces have cured for days now. I cannot sand because the glitter lines and markers are done a few days back. If I do a top coat after so many days, is it still a good idea? Or the second layer may not adhere well to the first layer?
I recommend doing a bit of sanding. You can do it lightly by hand. Just enough to scratch the surface a bit and then clean the dust off carefully with link free cloth and alcohol. The scratches will allow the topcoat to adhere to your last layer.
What did you put in the last rings the little stones that had a whole in them? And why did you do this in so many days couldn't you have done it in a single day? Where did you get the centre geodes? Thanks
I like to use Czech Glass Seed Beads & I also used Amethyst stone chip beads. You can a geode artwork in one day. I was wanting as much control over the resin as possible because I wanted defined separation between rings of color & allowing the resin to cure each day did that. Bought my geode pieces at a crystal shop near me.
I don't use hot glue but I have used Elmer's Glue that dries clear using small tip on bottle to create a thin line. I really like using Pebeo Cerne Relief in transparent. It is easy to control and dries in about 1 hour
Do you ever do a geode on canvas? I did my first one yesterday on a 24x 24 canvas and had no problems, but I'm worried if I go any larger it may sag. What are your thoughts?
There is always the risk canvas will sag from weight of the resin and any additions such as stone or glass. I like cradled panels myself just for that reason. Happy yours turned out fine though.
@@zerminaykhan it was a unprimed basswood cradled board. It needed to be sealed. I like to use Rustoleum spray paint for that. On this one it was a gloss white spray paint.
Sorry to say that I did not list products. This was one of my early tutorials and still learning myself on what info to provide to the viewers. Happy to say, I have done better listing products with newer videos. My apologies 🦋

Why do you prime the board?? And do I have to?? Beautiful piece!! 💜

what size of canvas was it also its a beautiful peace

What kind of tape did you get for the edges?
I use Scotch Blue- 3M Sharp Lines. They keep changing the name around 😂
Thanks you so much
What kind of board at beginning?
Nvm. I looked it up. So plywood may work?
👍🏻
The wood of Artist panels are kiln dried making them stable to avoid warping. Plywood has potential to warp

Which spray you used for shine..
No spray. This is resin.
