    Thanks for getting to the point and not telling your "Life Story" for 10 minutes before the repair. Well done.

    For anyone this may help : I've been diagnosing a radiator fan not starting under any circumstance.. The ECT sensor circuit is shared by the cooling fan circuit. Fan doesn't turn on? Try unplugging the sensor wires. If the fan kicks on you've found your issue. Took me forever to find that out. Replaced EVERYTHING cooling fan related until that was my last attempt. Cheers! Thanks for the video!

      The specs for the temperature sensor that I found says that the resistance goes down at higher temperature (68F: 37.3 kohms, 176F : 3.8 kohms). So it seems like removing the connector would simulate a very high resistance and make the fan control think that the temperature was low, and not turn on. Maybe I'm missing something?

    Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the clear and easy explanation on this. I just found out that this part even exists and have struggled to find good information for my very basic know nothing about cars brain to figure out how to fix on my own but I think I get it now. Thank you so much this really helped .

    Another helpful tip,get a rod or piece of Wood to extend the hood open further than the factory hood rod.

    Look closely at the old sensor once it’s removed. If the O ring is not present, it’s still stuck in the engine and you’ll need a pick to ‘pick’ it out quickly. If you don’t, the new sensor will leak.

    Do you have to disconnect anything before doing it or can you just jump right into it by taking the sensor off and screwing the new one on

    • @VideoMyLifeLLC
      @VideoMyLifeLLC 2 роки тому

      I don't know what the author did, but I would definitely disconnect the battery first when working on electrical components. Even if you are near any electrical connectors it is a good idea to disconnect the batter; can you imagine accidentally touching a hot wire/connector with your ratchet and then a ground like the metal engine or body parts? I've done it and it is not good :)

      ALWAYS ALWAYS disconnect the battery before you mess with anything electrical you can damage circuits and sensors and anything like that

      If it is not coming off then it is possible you are not pushing on it correctly. Walk away from it, take a break, and go back; you don't want to break that connector!

    Do I have to drain the coolant first ?

    • @MegaSafetyFirst
      @MegaSafetyFirst  3 роки тому

      I didn’t. A little bit of coolant will come out, but it’s negligible when putting in the new sensor as fast as possible.
      I’d put an old rag underneath to catch the liquid.

      When you remove it, coolant should come out from that hole just quickly replace it with the new one and fill the coolant overflow tank.

      Between the battery and engine. Some of them use clips and are not screw in type, you might need to remove the water outlet to get to it
