Only 23,000 views is truly sad. Chris is above and beyond one of the best guitarists out there. I guess true talent doesn’t matter these days. I bought the dvd too and his cds.
Chris is one of the best ever. And everybody who is interested on this kind of playing needs this DVD from him. Stratlovers and SRV Fans like me love it. Really great stuff!!!
I saw Chris at Piers in Fort Wayne Indiana off his debut album...I didn't know who he was except from the promo on my local radio station WXKE 103.9 And just hearing the cuts they were playing I knew I had to be there being a guitar player since the age of 11...I got there early and got me a table stage left.. Chris came out and proceeded to destroy the place..it was a religious experience... everyone back then was talking about how he was just a SRV clone ...yeah it was obvious he had some of those chops..but he also had a totally unique thing going on for himself...I think he is one of the most underrated players out there....🎸🎸🎸
Javier he doesn’t get enough recognition though. He’s amazing yet guitarists know maybe 2 guitarists. He should be at the top. I bought this and his CDs. But only 18,000 views? Should be over a million views.
I just read that the guy who made his Hamiltone guitar is going to fix the neck and he’s going to be able to use it. It was down to the wood and the wood was getting thin. But a good luthier can fix just about anything and he did so Chris can still play his 63. It’s actually been fixed and back with Chris.
Yep. He can blow Mayer off tye stage. But John plays son rick and songs that get the girls t like them. He sold out imo. He should stay with his trio and blues rock. He knew he wouldn’t become rich and famous with the blues so we got his body is a wonderland and daughters. Ok so he got in the door but what’s he doing now? Sob rock and country stuff was awful.
I don't think Chris teaches that much in this DVD but he gives very sound advice how to learn to be a solid player and find your own style. Excellent video from a terrific player!
coffeewaldo I may be about to lose some credibility here, but I've been a Mayer fan ever since he did the Live in L.A. concert-people hate on him for a lot of eligible reasons but the guy can hold his own on guitar and has written some good lyrics (although I'm not a fan of his radio-pop hits). That being said, Chris is a phenomenal guitarist and I like his style of playing while singing-the guy def deserves more publicity! And you have to respect that he's stayed true to his work
+coffeewaldo Chris Duarte is an awesome musician and guitar player. I've seen him live. I'd say you really got to give John Mayer another listen, his album Continuum is really good. Vocal melodies Galore and great guitar playing that fits just right in the songs throughout. Like I said, at least give Continuum from Mayer a listen.
+coffeewaldo A few years back, there was some videos on "Google Video" of Chris playing some legit Jazz, with a horn section and all. The videos have dissapeared from the face of the earth. These were videos of him playing real Jazz on a Jazz box, just shredding authentic Charlie Parker style bebop lines. Great stuff, but it sux that the videos have vanished.
Is he sidestepping from pentatonic minor or playing outside notes from major scale in the 'adding color' section around 34:00 minutes Thnks in advance for reply!
Viscious Hattermaid I think he wants us to figure that it. He’s using some jazz stuff. I’m not sure what he’s adding in. He specifically says he’s not getting into that too much. I have to rewatch it to see exactly what he said. I bought the dvd 10 yrs ago. It’s now free here on utube. I’m happy to support him though.
@@joerobinson6199 Just because he knows how good he is, doesn't mean that he is intending to be arrogant or a ego maniac. To be quite honest that takes one hell of an ego to comment on the same video numerous times about how big Chris's ego is. Just because Chris intimidates you as a human, doesn't mean that his existence is an attack on you. And when
His set up is on his Axploration dvd. Although, recently he’s had to downsize because he feels his bandmembers ears are fatigued from all the amps he was using.
One thing you could take away from this video is that scales are a great jump off point and can give you ideas when creating lines but you don't necessarily have to be limited by any scales or rules. Especially in the blues, because every chord is a "V" chord, you can choose to switch keys when you change chords or not...so you have a ton of options on what scales or modes to use at any time. Chris is a great example that there are no wrong notes or scales.
+coffeewaldo i listened again and i just hear a guy that sounds like john fruciante,....but noot as creative,..if you think this guy is amazing you should come with me to a few blues jams in the boston area,. a dime a dozen ....
Sean Ruiz yea ok. Is this the only video u ever watched of Chris? He's got tons of them now on utube. Like Shiloh I'm not going to name all of them but he puts every bone of his body in his playing. I'm sure you know all the great guitarists out there that are better than Chris. There are a ton of guys I'm sure u never heard of.
Sean Ruiz He can really play. Not just the stuff you heard in this video. If you can find the video here on UA-cam, you'll see that Chris is actually a bad ass playing legit bebop/Jazz. Try searching for it.

So true! Have seen him a few times in Springfield, Mo back in the 90's. Imo one of the top guitarists ever.
This guy is insane!!!
Like he's playing guitar for 1000 years.
100% agree!
Chris is a monster on a guitar, his live shows he treats his Strat like it owes him money!
83roadstar haha. He does put every bone in his body into playing and it’s been years of playing. He deserves way more credit.
Chris is one of the best ever.
And everybody who is interested on this kind of playing needs this DVD from him.
Stratlovers and SRV Fans like me love it.
Really great stuff!!!
Marc Ludemann I wish he went more in depth on the outside playing stuff, any tips?

I saw Chris at Antone´s in Austin last july, Blow my mind. He's at the Top. Nice guy also.
Javier he doesn’t get enough recognition though. He’s amazing yet guitarists know maybe 2 guitarists. He should be at the top. I bought this and his CDs. But only 18,000 views? Should be over a million views.
This is insane guitar playing. This guy is sick!OMG
Love to see a part 2 dvd!
Viscious Hattermaid yes!!!!
Truefire needs to pick him up
Not from this planet...amazing!!
What an intelligent, talented , Uber cool dude! I wish I was one tenth as good as him.
Chris can you please put out another dvd?
I think the frets here on this pre-CBS are down to the quick.
It’s not just the frets. I think it’s been Re-fretted so many times that the fretboard wood is getting too thin.
I just read that the guy who made his Hamiltone guitar is going to fix the neck and he’s going to be able to use it. It was down to the wood and the wood was getting thin. Chris Duarte!! Killer!!!!!💥👌
This guy can use that strat to hammer john mayer like a nail

Jonny Lang could
at 13 could blow John off the stage too. His voice is giving him issues now.

hgostos at the time the DVD came out there was not a lot of Chris on utube so I was just glad to see him playing.
I wish he went more in depth on the outside sounds
WTF!!! Chris Duarte is the GUITARGOD in person!
Great meeting you
Great 🔆
I just found out about this guy! This guy is legit.
Me too, while I was searching about Eric Johnson, another guitar godzilla

ATX0705 so true. I agree 1000%. most people out of lack of actually hearing his music talk shit
Isn't that "101" he's starting with? Man I wish someone had a tab for this
What scales is he using when playing outside notes is he playing in between the mixolydian mode?
Get Chris on Truefire
34:10 what scales is he referring to when playing ‘out’ anyone?
Is he sidestepping from pentatonic minor or playing outside notes from major scale in the 'adding color' section around 34:00 minutes Thnks in advance for reply!
Beeastman123 yes he adds in a bit of jazz into his blues.
He's always added a lot of jazz to his playing. I think the jazz school has influenced his playing as much as any blues player outside SRV.
What scales?
More more ...how about your setup?
More on outside playing!

Tail Spin Head Whack!
rjo8500 yes!!!
Ho. Ly. Fuck.
when was this made?
It says 7 yrs ago.
What scales specifically to play 'outside'?

So ... what scales?
Then , once you have these lessons down. You can play "My way down" note for note, Right! NOT!
killer
some players you get some you dont,......I don't get it.....
+coffeewaldo i listened again and i just hear a guy that sounds like john fruciante,....but noot as creative,..if you think this guy is amazing you should come with me to a few blues jams in the boston area,. a dime a dozen
