This video was so helpful!!! Really clearly explained the “what, why and how” each step and results were totally unbiased (I.e. no plugging free samples). Super impressed with sound and filming quality. Best Thing- the ENTIRE video is about product comparison! No tangents, info clearly and concisely provided, graph of results discussed, video end.

You make the best point here - if it's cheaper but you use more, it's it really cheaper? Spot on! I'm sensitive to chemical smells so try to avoid strippers but sometimes they're necessary. Thanks for your thorough testing, great info all around!
I try to avoid them, but like you said, sometimes they are necessary. The cheapest one was the most odorous. This comparison was definitely interesting.

Multi- strip from sunnyside is the best of all. It's water based, stays wet long, and water clean up.

I really needed this video, as I’m going to change up the look of my big electric cherry wood fire place only bc it was damaged by a house fire, of smoke, water and the removal out of home and family did not want to leave behind. So I’m now at odds to either revarnish it or paint it a matte. Your video shows me which product I’ll be looking for if I choose to revarnish it. I will choose Citrus Strip bc I can’t handle smells

I used to do woodworking many years ago
Started up again and bought some paint stripper- holy crap are they ever borderline useless now that they got rid of the good methylene chloride!!
They are all just variations of borderline useless products

I like to use Green Envy Mineral Spirits, is less odorous too.
This timing couldn't be more perfect; I am working on two end tables that need overhauling. Just clarifying: the two-minute remover gel got past the lacquer and down to the bare wood with the first application, right? I couldn't decipher at the end of the video which product did the most stripping. Thanks for this side-by-side test, and please let me know.
I did have to add a second coat of the 2 minute one. I’d dried before I put the plastic on top. But after that, it removed it all.
how was the clean up for each of these strippers? Thanks for the great video! I have had fantastic results w the Soy Gel :-)
The faster the product dries before removing paint the hardest it is to clean up. Soy gel and Citristrip were easier to clean up.
soy gel left a very clean surface as did 2 minute remover.

i'm fixing up an old playhouse and need to remove the paint. will these items work for plastic as well?
Normally paint needs to be stripped from wood to reveal the beautiful grain. If I was painting a playhouse, I would clean it, scuff sand it, and then paint it. No stripping necessary.
I pressure washed it and a lot of the old paint chipped off. My only concern would be that this would create bumps under any new paint I put on.
I'm assuming the plastic has been painted before. I have never applied any of these products on plastic so I'm not sure how they would affect it. One thing I know, they make the wood soft for a while, I would be afraid they would alter the plastic in some way. If it was me, I would read the back of the product I'm buying to make sure is safe to use on plastic, and if it is safe, I would test it on a small area first.@@christinac3727

I’m curious why you chose 30 minutes. The Soy Gel manufacturer’s own UA-cam video uses a 5-hour set time.
