- Here I show you how to remove old paint off wood using a stripping gel. Simply paint the gel onto your project and let it sit. Then using a scrapper remove the old paint or varnish. Repeat the process as needed.

If you wait until it bubbles, it comes off in strips.
Soooo true
Could you power wash it off like a deck?
I was thinking the same thing!
You can leave it on for 24 hours or so if you cover it up with plastic so it doesn't dry out. Works great on hard-to-remove paint.
I’ve learned that if you leave it for an hour, it works even better
I cover my stuff plastic sheet. plastic sheet helps keep from drying last
Great. Every instructional video shows you taking paint off a flat surface. Try using this on intricate trim molding, this just won't work.
Interesting… Are you trying to take paint off molding and stain the wood after? Please tell me more about the project you’re working on.
Use the spray version
How do you clean this shit up?? So much adhesive
The company falsely claims that the product stays wet. It’s a shame that they’re able to get away with doing that.
Not sure why everyone who does this comes off quickly . My hutch has so much paint and so thick it’s a mess 😩
Cover with a plastic to keep it from drying and being a mess.
Just used on metal hvac registers and its a real pain to clean up. Used alcohol and the metal is still slimy. I'll next use a torch and cook this stuff off. Seriously, it was easier to use a regular paint stripper that cleaned with mineral spirits.
Did you apply stripper wash or mineral spirits to remove the stripper after the wet towel? I ask because I see a bottle of something else in the video.
It’s mineral spirits. Denatured alcohol with steel wool works better as a clean up
I actually had pretty good luck with mineral spirits stripping doors and drawers of kitchen cabinet, but lots of work
I personally found the fine steel wool useless. I did more with regular steel wool you use to clean pots and pans and palm sander and brass brush.
Other videos show the chemicals are just as bad. Only this citristrip is not as smelly. It is not as good as the others. You still need a respirator or outside.
Why would you need a respirator for something that had no odor?
@@markgoodwin183I don't know. All chemicals don't have odors. If the label says use in a well ventilated area ?
Should have waited a little longer. Wait for it to bubble.
Can this be used on acrylic or glass materials?
Ive been using a heat gun on my coffee table to remove paint. I discovered cardboard underneath? Is this strange?
Does this work on glazed floor tile?
If you wrap in plastic and let it sit overnight you can wash the majority of the paint off with water.
Can this be used on fabric upholstery?
I am not sure. Is the fabric painted? Are you trying to clean a spill or something off the fabric?
@@MyProjectWeekend The fabric was painted with acrylic paint, now it’s hard, rough, and cracking.
To answer my own question, yes (but be careful) I used it on my stool and it got 75% of it off. I put the seat in the bathtub, covered it in Orange goo and let it sit over night. I ran water over it as I scrapped to paint off, it took over an hour but it worked well enough
I am stripping post with the railing still up and I got to wrap Saran wrap around it it makes no sense
very nice Thankyou
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching.
