There's always two sides of the problem. For instance, sexism. While women definitely have had more extreme results of sexism, men are not free from gender roles and stereotypes. As someone who’s pretty left, I’ve never really thought about this. This video was kind of an eye-opener. I don’t think I’ll change my personal views but I definitely have to keep more of an open mind.
I was once liberal and I'm not saying I changed because I bloody well haven't... Liberalism has moved more left and so I am now right of center and come off like a conservative. I never really cared where I was on each political topic and I still don't because as an individualist I believe groups don't work as well together in closed minded echo chambers rather they come to the agreement that others who don't believe their way are intolerable. What I've noticed in the philosophical development of today's modern culture is that social normalities today value a less fathomable method toward civility if it means to weigh their own worth or integrity against another's granted they are willing to cast a deeper unrealizable judgment based on virtue without morality nor meaningful debate and without acquired knowledge through trial to bewilder and destroy the countless people who are willing to proceed in the society knowing it not to be an utopia.

This video is very accurate. Society has portrayed conservatives in a way that every conservative you meet as alt-right. They put political views above all else. It's as if once they realize that you are conservative, the 'you' that they knew disappears and they can only see a 'Neo-Nazi'. This happens at my mom's work. The staff are pretty close and nice to each other. But, once they learn that you are conservative, they alienate you and get every other staff member to ignore you in hopes of you quitting. I remember hearing a quote from one of the staff members: "yeah. If I learn that you are conservative, then we won't be friends anymore"
Well, it goes both ways. All conservative media seems to portray liberals as crazy SJW, PC extremists like in this video. Overall, I think we should remember neither side of the political spectrum is represented by the extremes.

When I came out to my family about wanting to transition from male to female, they were so understanding, caring, supportive and loving. When I came out as a right wing, they were so rude, spiteful, hateful and unwillingly to even try to see where I was coming from.

The first reaction was literally “so you’re racist now?”! 2 years later my sister in law cornered me at a gathering and asked if I still liked Trump. I said I like him even more now than I did on 2016. She asked if I liked kids being put in cages. I said I didn’t like it now or when Obama did it but I understand the nuance involved. I also don’t like people using children as a free ticket to jump the line into America or worse. I asked her the same question I did in 2016. As someone who is pretty liberal and democratic myself, I do think people should be encouraged to think more critically and the conclusion one comes to may depend on the person and the environment they grew up in that led them to believe that way. I honestly don't think either side is more "right" than the other and I think in these types of situations, people should listen to each other and figure out why we believe what we believe. Not only is shaming someone for being conservative rude, but it also shows a lack of empathy that is highly unproductive for the political sphere as a whole.

yeah but the right are almost exclusively the ones that either deny or claim climate change won't be a big deal at all. There are more pressing issues to deal with and "solving" this currently unsolvable problem will only put out the millions of people that rely on the "evil" conservative structures that are in place to keep society standing. Without conservatives America would collapse under too much ambiguous and rash action. You may think the right is "worse" than the left when really they're the only thing standing in the way of the destruction that the left would bring.

The saddest part it is that this is true. I have many friends that lean very left so when we get together and fall into an echo chamber, i normally stay extremely quiet and let them talk. I'm pretty open minded so I let them say their minds and try to understand from their point of view. Unfortunately, there are times where I want to express my idea or belief or even question theirs but I get too scared to even do so in fear of ruining a friendship.

I was at work recently and people started talking about Brexit. Eventually we all went around the room and everyone said they voted remain. I said "Well, I wasn't sure so in the end I didn't vote."and they accepted that answer. I actually voted leave, but there was no way I was gonna say that in a room full of remainers. Plus I like that job and I would rather that people think I have no opinions than the" wrong" ones.
IDK dude I think a lot of these people just need to pick better friends. A lot of my friends when I was in school were left wing and understood that I'm right wing. We even discussed politics sometimes. Never hated eachother. We understood that politics do not define who we are.
I'm a democrat. My best friend is republican. I have been told I need to reevaluate my friendships because of it, because people assume that being republican means being okay with everything republican politicians do. My friend and I, as well as the rest of our friend group, have actually had long political discussion no problem. We generally tend to agree. There's really only two things we don't agree on, and that's general priorities and ways to handle problems. At least half of our friend group is LGBT, she doesn't care. We've talked about abortion, and we agree that it's definitely something that should be accessible. We even both agree that it's sad that too many people who utilize it are 100% at fault for their pregnancy (I.e. Intentional unprotected sex), but we still believe the access should be there regardless. We are hardly different, and the only thing separating our political views are the most bare bones definitions of each party. We both recognize each of our parties have absolute hateful dipshits in them, she's just obviously more inclined to complain about the ones opposite of her party.

I love that you're surrounded by such an understanding group from the whole spectrum. I try to find friends who are nonjudgmental and loving even when we completely disagree. I think it's great for us all to listen to the ones we differ from so we can be open-minded without being defensively biased or abandoning what we believe so we won't get persecuted. We're all influenced by the environment we're raised in. As much as we may think we're not; we're biased from how we grew up and what impacts us as different, unique individuals. It's when we become adults that we get to decide for ourselves and use our mindsets for bettering society. Everyone has different ideas to bring to the table on how to do it; but ultimately most of us just want the best for the population. We forget we commonly want what's good for the people in all parties; we just see how to do it differently. I believe Barack Obama said something similar of the sort. We're truly blessed to have a say in our government and have it be for the people. I'm mostly republican in my values but it doesn't mean I agree with everything republican or like the politicians. I'm very open to new ideas because change is constant and inevitable; but structure is also needed. It's a balance of order and freedom; we clearly don't want too much of one or the other. And like you said, let's be real; there's no 100% sane politician anywhere, but that's the business of the job. It is sad how fragile someone's pride breaks a bond. I've seen it happen from both parties. When I come across people who aren't so stubborn in their viewpoint; I hold onto them, because they're rare and genuinely for life.

That coupled with the fact that you can define certain political views as moral and immoral, means that it is very easy to see someone with immoral political views as not being a good person.

I was once liberal and I'm not saying I changed because I bloody well haven't... Liberalism has moved more left and so I am now right of center and come off like a conservative.
I never really cared where I was on each political topic and I still don't because as an individualist I believe groups don't work as well together in closed minded echo chambers rather they come to the agreement that others who don't believe their way are intolerable.

This video is very accurate. Society has portrayed conservatives in a way that every conservative you meet as alt-right. They put political views above all else. It's as if once they realize that you are conservative, the 'you' that they knew disappears and they can only see a 'Neo-Nazi'. This happens at my mom's work. The staff are pretty close and nice to each other. But, once they learn that you are conservative, they alienate you and get every other staff member to ignore you in hopes of you quitting. I remember hearing a quote from one of the staff members: "yeah. If I learn that you are conservative, then we won't be friends anymore"
Well, it goes both ways. All conservative media seems to portray liberals as crazy SJW, PC extremists like in this video. Overall, I think we should remember neither side of the political spectrum is represented by the extremes.

I mean, everything is a spectrum. But sometimes a spectrum has to have no more than two points. Kind of like gender. (e.g. Trans is not a gender since you end up being one or the other or will be regarded as the other or one, and you can't choose to wake up a boy one day and a girl the next). But I guess sexuality, in terms of bestiality, necro, etc., can be a mlre realistic spectrum.
When I came out to my family about wanting to transition from male to female, they were so understanding, caring, supportive and loving.
When I came out as a right wing, they were so rude, spiteful, hateful and unwillingly to even try to see where I was coming from.

The first reaction was literally “so you’re racist now?”! 2 years later my sister in law cornered me at a gathering and asked if I still liked Trump. I said I like him even more now than I did on 2016. She asked if I liked kids being put in cages. I said I didn’t like it now or when Obama did it but I understand the nuance involved. I also don’t like people using children as a free ticket to jump the line into America or worse. I asked her the same question I did in 2016. Do you really think Russia had anything to do with his election? She said absolutely. I said but what about The mueller report? Didn’t that prove to you that there was no connection between the campaign and the kremlin? She said it proved obstruction of justice. I giggled and said how can one obstruct justice when there was no crime to obstruct the justice for? She called me an idiot and walked away. As someone who is pretty liberal and democratic myself, I do think people should be encouraged to think more critically and the conclusion one comes to may depend on the person and the environment they grew up in that led them to believe that way. I honestly don't think either side is more "right" than the other and I think in these types of situations, people should listen to each other and figure out why we believe what we believe. Not only is shaming someone for being conservative rude, but it also shows a lack of empathy that is highly unproductive for the political sphere as a whole.
Spot. Especially the part about everyone believing their own opinions as facts. Sure, people can debate on certain topics using facts as their evidence, but what those facts suggest about certain topics can vary based on how we as individuals view the world.
yeah but the right are almost exclusively the ones that either deny or claim climate change won't be a big deal at all. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of problems with both parties and honestly hate both of them, but when one party does stuff like that, it really triggers me man, mostly because they're getting millions from the fossil fuel industry and profiting thousands of dollars (if not millions) for selling out the interests of the american people. Obviously I'm talking USA conservatives and liberals. Other countries are different, but in the USA I think the right is worse when compared to the left.

@@KR1S71ANthenoob The only problem is the millions you're talking about are funneled through our economy, the fuel is used in our vehicles and generators (as over 90% of our infrastructure directly relies on dirty energy), and all of it directly benefits the people that play into the economic structure of America (workers to gather and haul raw materials, employees of the various corporations that funnel the money and resources around, etc) Climate change is real, potentially catastrophic, and not going anywhere no matter what we do. There are more pressing issues to deal with and "solving" this currently unsolvable problem will only put out the millions of people that rely on the "evil" conservative structures that are in place to keep society standing. Without conservatives America would collapse under too much ambiguous and rash action. You may think the right is "worse" than the left when really they're the only thing standing in the way of the destruction that the left would bring.
Literally everything you wrote was Common Sense... Especially the beginning part of people being shaped by their environment and experiences like that's ultimate common sense ... unfortunately there are some that don't get it but how many people do

Is it rare for a Mexican to be conservative/Republican? I've always thought Most Mexicans to be independent, hard-working, huge on traditional family and marriage, Catholic (for the most part) and just want to mind their own business and have others mind theirs. The saddest part it is that this is true. I have many friends that lean very left so when we get together and fall into an echo chamber, i normally stay extremely quiet and let them talk. I'm pretty open minded so I let them say their minds and try to understand from their point of view. Unfortunately, there are times where I want to express my idea or belief or even question theirs but I get too scared to even do so in fear of ruining a friendship.

I was at work recently and people started talking about Brexit. Eventually we all went around the room and everyone said they voted remain. I said "Well, I wasn't sure so in the end I didn't vote."and they accepted that answer.
I actually voted leave, but there was no way I was gonna say that in a room full of remainers. Plus I like that job and I would rather that people think I have no opinions than the" wrong" ones.

IDK dude I think a lot of these people just need to pick better friends. A lot of my friends when I was in school were left wing and understood that I'm right wing. We even discussed politics sometimes. Never hated eachother. We understood that politics do not define who we are.

I'm a democrat. My best friend is republican. I have been told I need to reevaluate my friendships because of it, because people assume that being republican means being okay with everything republican politicians do. My friend and I, as well as the rest of our friend group, have actually had long political discussion no problem. We generally tend to agree. There's really only two things we don't agree on, and that's general priorities and ways to handle problems. At least half of our friend group is LGBT, she doesn't care. We've talked about abortion, and we agree that it's definitely something that should be accessible. We even both agree that it's sad that too many people who utilize it are 100% at fault for their pregnancy (I.e. Intentional unprotected sex), but we still believe the access should be there regardless. We are hardly different, and the only thing separating our political views are the most bare bones definitions of each party. We both recognize each of our parties have absolute hateful dipshits in them, she's just obviously more inclined to complain about the ones opposite of her party.
LightishRedGummi while I applaud your maturity over handling political differences if there are only really two things that you disagree on than she isn’t that much of a republican (or you are more of a centrist Democrat either way). You are both pretty much the same politically. Not saying there is anything wrong with that but the two party platforms are very different and have completely different policy proposals. I love that you're surrounded by such an understanding group from the whole spectrum. I try to find friends who are nonjudgmental and loving even when we completely disagree. I think it's great for us all to listen to the ones we differ from so we can be open-minded without being defensively biased or abandoning what we believe so we won't get persecuted. Thank you for being a considerate human being of this planet; we need more people who are slow to speak and quick to listen. At the end of the day; difference is what makes us who we are; but kindness and listening is what brings us united.
@@meghabhatt2063 those two things are just general ideas, two things that are the base reasons someone is one party or another. the way things should be handled (and who it should be up to) is the main difference between democrats and republicans, less federal control versus more. we are both kind of the bare bones of each political party. though there may be things we have more opposing viewpoints on, my friend and i. they just apparently have yet to be discussed. i have another conservative friend that i tend to disagree with more, so he may be a better example of the general "being republican doesnt mean being a dick" thing im trying to get across
@@elah96 "those who mind dont matter and those who matter dont mind." im very lucky to find people i can get into an intense debate with, but then start laughing about complete idiots together just seconds later. i take so many more things into consideration now that ive heard the opinions of many others in a respectful (and ultimately positive) environment. i used to have a negative opinion of republicans, until i realized the friends ive become so close with were republican themselves (my dad is VERY critical of republicans, so thats likely where i had gotten my initial mindset from). its really sad that views can tear people apart so easily, even when theyre mild. a different friend of mine and i rarely ever agree (we butted heads the most), and its almost sad how proud we are of ourselves and each other that our relationship never changed upon learning how our opinions differ, we even pointed it out in our yearbook notes to each other when we graduating without knowing the other did the same. the fact that decency like that and finding common ground can be celebrated that much.
We're all influenced by the environment we're raised in. As much as we may think we're not; we're biased from how we grew up and what impacts us as different, unique individuals. It's when we become adults that we get to decide for ourselves and use our mindsets for bettering society. Everyone has different ideas to bring to the table on how to do it; but ultimately most of us just want the best for the population. We forget we commonly want what's good for the people in all parties; we just see how to do it differently. I believe Barack Obama said something similar of the sort. We're truly blessed to have a say in our government and have it be for the people. I'm mostly republican in my values but it doesn't mean I agree with everything republican or like the politicians. I'm very open to new ideas because change is constant and inevitable; but structure is also needed. It's a balance of order and freedom; we clearly don't want too much of one or the other. And like you said, let's be real; there's no 100% sane politician anywhere, but that's the business of the job. It is sad how fragile someone's pride breaks a bond. I've seen it happen from both parties. When I come across people who aren't so stubborn in their viewpoint; I hold onto them, because they're rare and genuinely for life.

That coupled with the fact that you can define certain political views as moral and immoral, means that it is very easy to see someone with immoral political views as not being a good person.
