The dev, Antti, confirmed frag and smoke grenades are coming, and that maybe flash bangs will be added too, although he's iffy on how he feels on flash bangs being in the game. He did a stream recently discussing future features, early access, etc. He posted a link to the VOD on his community tab, but a previous student of his is editing it down to highlights - it'll be posted as a video this coming week, I think.
Any tips on handling anxiety? I'm scared shitless everytime I leave the attic and find it hard to roam around. I'm not even talking about gear fear or combat itself, more like just being seen by enemies... Thanks for the videos, been enjoying these a lot.
Just keep at it! This kind of game takes experience to gain any skill, so persistence is key. Despite the difficulty, the demo is more forgiving than it could be with starting kits that you can load into any time you want to start over with some gear to travel and survive with. The tutorial is great for learning the gunplay safely and you can spend all the time you like in the Village learning to move about and use cover to respond to enemy attacks. The bots can be relentless, but they make mistakes, too, and you want to take advantage of them whenever possible. I'd advise you to choose a starting kit in a new game and just run right out into the village to really get a feel for the combat, it's the best medicine. In doing that, you'll find the need to loot provisions and healing items to keep yourself going the longer you stay alive, which will take you the rest of the way.
Lol, if only I could do something like that! But you'll get the hang of it. It's still only a game after all and experience will make you a better player.
you and manlybadasshero have become a part of my bedtime and morning time youtube routine lol I won't lie I haven't gotten around to watching too much of your Road to Vostok videos, but what are your thought on the game?
Oh, thank you! I'm not familiar with him, I'll have to check his channel out. I feel super optimistic about Road to Vostok, it fits right into my interests with the genre. If you're familiar with my SPT videos, you'll know how I feel about single-player experiences in zone-like survival shooting & looting sims with cool tactical aspects to enjoy in interesting & realistic environments. I've spent a long time trying to get proper single-player fun out of multiplayer games with PvP metas to contend with, so this game - even in demo - is practically tailored just for folks with interests like mine. I keep making videos with it because I'm excited to see it grow.
@@thestarvox Yeah I love these kinda games too, Stalker GAMMA was my gateway lol. Glad to hear the game seems promising. Also wasn't trying to advertise him, but since you said you'd check him out I will say he only does horror stuff, but he's pretty calm and has good dry humor so good bedtime vibes :) I like your content a lot btw, I hope you end up doing a Zero to Hero SPT series at some point
I was originally was super stoked for this game but after playing the latest demo for a few hours, I feel the dev really made a huge mistake of switching away from unity in favor of Godot. Sound is awful and physics feel early 2000s and I think that the engine will always hold back the full potential of this game. Hopefully I am proven wrong in the long run.
Neither of those are really the engine. He can use JOLT physics as well. Personally unreal engine would've been a better choice for scalability. Just don't be dumb by using default settings and megascans.
@@Callsign_Sturm unreal would have been the better choice so I agree. Regarding sound, I clearly remember the sound being way better in unity demo vs Godot and there was even a UA-camr who pointed it out. I wished I remembered who it was but definitely the current sound engine is subpar.
It's hard even for me to say because this sort of game typically comes with some predominant meta running its plot or how players interact with each other. Road to Vostok, at least in this demo state, is entirely without plot or character motivation and almost requires some awareness of the genre it's working inside of to inform new players about how to even approach it, which I think is really cool. From what I can tell, comparable games outside of things like Escape from Tarkov and the STALKER series are top-down indie titles that lack the components I really enjoy in realistic (or somewhat realistic/hardcore) first-person sims.
@@thestarvox Maybe you should check out a couple of VR games called Ghosts of Tabor, Into the Radius and Contractors ExFilZone, they are kinda similar to this one, although Tabor and Contractors are competitive
LMFAO!!! what conclusions are we supposed to draw from peanuts, and religious books. bro you had me dying!
12:32 The Bandit in the Window right of the Tree: "Am i a joke to you?" :D
OMG, I didn't even notice that guy!
i love this! i havnt been looking forward to a game this much ever!

I was glad he did that stream and am very much looking forward to the highlight video, there was so much information to keep track of.
Game loos great. Thanks for staying up late to push this one out.
The placement feature is super cool but admittedly super tedious since the depth perception when stacking items isn't great.
Could do with a on screen reticule to make it easier to pick stuff up on the ground
That will be in my next video
The shadows are very distracting right now to be honest.

@@thestarvox Thank you! I'll try that. If I had a smooth-voiced narrator like in your videos things would be less scary out there.

I'm glad to hear it!
And the series is currently on it's way, I just have to get some more time to record.
Good to know im not the only one who cannot find a battery. Are there any "common" spots for it to spawn or do you just need to get lucky
I managed to find a shelf full of them pretty easily in my last run, so it's probably just luck.
your editing is some of the least obnoxious and your voice is super relaxing.
I only wish you used some sort of fade instead of jump cuts
Oh, thank you!
The IFAK is pretty rare, i played 45h now and i only found one :/
Ah geez, that bodes ill for me, but I'll keep looking!
Love this game so far. It really reminds me of a PoE version of Escape from Tarkov.
This looks like DayZ in VR minus the zombies.
But the zombies are a mere inconvenience anyway, pvp paranoia is what its about.

agreed, Unity is waaaaay better, even the demo 1 videos shows game was better than the current state
You clearly dont understand game engines
The game will still give you ptsd
What other games are in this genre besides S.T.A.L.K.E.R? I tried Terminator Resistance and it was complete garbage compared to this game.
