(It passed consenting in one month ) not the three years it has taken us so far. These are facts that are kept out of sight of the general public. What are your thoughts?

I don’t know if many citizens realise that natural gas is an essential,economic and convenient fuel for heating and cooking in our detention centres and correctional units.Natural gas line runs right past HB Regional Prison and this is the logical,indigenous fuel to power such facilities one being security of supply.No power cables need to be relied upon.Throughout the North Island chefs in our tourist restaurants and hotels prefer gas for its superior characteristics to cater for discerning international guests-those that drop money and keep the economy going.Gross energy has to come from somewhere. Personally we have tried solar panels to just supplement our power requirements. Unfortunately they don’t cut it.Bright light is not really available for 6 months of the year in NZ.

A minority opposition (National)(The closure leaves NZ vulnerable -obscure nz website) and not in Parliament (NZ first)(Shane Jones- beware of greens bearing gifts - clean car discount, fb post) at the time, they had no political sway to do anything about the refinery closure. The Australian Government has subsidised their oil refineries billions of dollars to keep them open.

lPG is a (small) component of natural gas. Cannot have one without the other.
