Squier Classic Vibe 60's Precision Bass (How a "P" bass should sound)

  • This bass sounds fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised. A little heavier than I anticipated, based on other reviews. Nice fret work. Only real issue, the nut was cut too shallow. Fit and finish are very nice. Tuners feel a bit stiff. I will probably upgrade them with lightweight tuners, as there is a good amount of neck dive when seated. Not so on my other P bass. Nice tinted neck. 1.688" at the nut.
    Update:
I was having trouble getting the action as low as I like. It was a little high near the body so I added a .02 shim in the neck pocket. Getting near the top of travel on the saddle height adjustment but it plays very nice now.

Sounds great. After I ordered the Squire Paranormal from Pro Audio Star for 199 bucks I ordered the Squire Classic vibe 70s P Bass for 219. Amazing deals thanks to your video giving me the heads up!

i did a review on it as well: your findings in your description mostly mirror mine. I didnt think the tuners were that bad nor great either. I was pleasantly surprised on how much it felt like a vintage instrument

Got one, sunburst tortie. Good enough to support a pickup upgrade, installed the Fender PV '63, it's now on the bleeding edge of amazing. Thinking about a Jazz to take the place of my lockdown Chinese Partscaster project.
Also got a CME exclusive Late 50s CV, the pickup is nearly bang on a '58, completely different character from 60's one

Ah, a man of culture! (I see that “tone plastic” is still on the pickups. 😅)

a fine instrument. I bought one a month ago with birthday money. I prefer to roll back the tone control so there isn't as much string scratch and emphasize the 'bass' tones. to each, his own...

Has an “Entwistle”-ish growl to it

Nice. This bass sounds great. Now, if my playing only sounded as good as the bass does! Enjoy.

Put some flats or tapewounds on it and thats how a P Bass should really sound!
