Vancouver has been disrespected the entire playoffs. Everyone assumed that the Oilers would just breeze past the Canucks. But the Canucks were consistent enough throughout the season to win the division yet many fans and hockey pundits assumed they are the underdogs.

That slash was nothing compared to the retaliation, it wasn't that hard and was right into pads on the thigh, and the slash didn't come out of nowhere.
Zadarov's hard cross-check from behind was totally unnecessary, and he made the cross-check from Soucy far far worse than it otherwise would have been. Zadarov should be getting the majority of the blame and the majority of the punishment for that, not Soucy.

You’re actually messed in the head if you see someone getting cross checked in the neck and it makes you happy. Connor McDavid gets beat up all year long and gets no calls on him, the refs have even said that they would have too many power plays if they called all the penalties on McDavid. Those wimpy Vancouver players need to grow up. They won the game fair and square, they had no reason to cross check McDavid, but they did anyway, no wonder he retaliated with a slash. They had no reason to do that and they should be punished. Most people from BC act like toddlers anyway, so not really surprised by how they were acting.
McDavid's response to the situation was pure class. He talked about how that's just the playoffs and he loves it -- but didn't directly comment on the incident itself.
I cannot believe soucy has a hearing about this... Where's Kane's hearing about his slewfoot on Hughes?

I think accidents happen, and whether you’re falling, or the stick bounces off the glove, a cross check to the face is a cross check to the face. There needs to be a standard, every rule can’t be subjective.
Someone has to be held responsible for it, but I think Zadarov should get the majority of the blame for that, and the majority of the punishment, not Soucy. His crosscheck was harder, and was from behind, whereas Soucy was probably only intending to cross-check Connor in the chest, which has a lot of padding.

It was quite hard too. Zadarov is one of the largest players in the entire league, so it's not surprising, but he can't use that as an excuse for hitting people extremely hard.

Mc David put a lot of arc in that slash, lots of power. The responding cross check to the front of McDavid was straight out, not nearly the power. If you don't want to get hit, don't play dirty. That is a good thing to know for life in general. People will not always respond in the same way, it may be less and sometimes, its a lot more. Mcdavid is lucky to not get hurt from this play.
