In this episode of The Ranveer Show, we have a very special guest; Anand Ranganathan who is a scientist and the author of some amazing books like The Land of the Wilted Rose 2012, For Love and Honour 2015, and The Rat Eater 2019 (co-authored). His forthcoming book is on India's forgotten scientists 2023 (co-authored). Yes, you guessed it right.
Anand sir is known for his outspoken and fearless nature. He is someone who does not fear away from expressing his opinions which is why he is someone that I have looked upon for inspiration. In this episode, he gave his opinion on many talks like Modern-Day India, Science, Leapfrogging, Social Darwinian, JNU, the Cabinet Ministers, and much more.

@@SHUBHAMSINGH-mh1lp If anyone wants to go 25 kms for work or study it will take more than 2 hrs or more inside the city. And travelling on the highway will take 5 hrs for 150 km. And after all this we still hear about freebies. Same issue with the railways they are so dirty and crowded and tickets are always on the waiting list and trains are mostly late.

Problem with MMS was that he had foreign degrees and he saw Indian economy through foreign lens. Print more money to address problem temporarily like on 2008 which west did. During Covid Modi government did not have such fancy economist. They made Loans available and you can see the difference. UK USA Germany and all western countries gave away money to people and they are all in recession.

So what can BJP do if these other parties want to give more freebies to win elections. At least BJP is doing much better after coming into power. BJP is forced to give freebies too due to likes Of AAP, Congress etc. It's the people who would need to realize and not vote for freebies like people of Gujrat.
Fair enough. The problem here is the mindset of people have been changed with these freebies, they think that the govt owes them that. We need a much deeper change in people's thinking for this freebie mindset to change, and that is only possible through lifting people out of poverty. Economics and value creation is the fix for so many problems that India has.

BSNL is necessary to function for connecting the rural areas, Jio and Airtel haven’t penetrated our rural households that much till now which is eventually going to happen soon, but till that point of time, it’s necessary.
In which location jio, Airtel or voda isn't there where BSNL is present?
BSNL has less coverage in rural areas than jio, Airtel or voda. You can't burn lakhs of crores for the sake of few rural areas. It would be better to incentivise other players to increase there coverage in such areas and shut the damn BSNL down.
BSNL can sell their asset to private players in such exceptional cases if any.
its easy to get that done. Just mandate them to operate in non profitable rural areas and fund them for those specific locations. It would be way cheaper than running BSNL.
Is BSNL mandated to do that? Let's have separate organization or subsidies for private operators to operate in remote areas.

Freebies should not be used as an umbrella term. What and how much quantity of commodity is given free must be taken into context. Giving a certain amount of water for free and distributing television sets for free are two different things.

we need a permanent goverment efficient in every state for atleast 20 years we cant waste are crucial decades with governments playing vote bank politics.

Hats off to Dr. Anand but consider this, will private banks have their branches in remote places where there are just 40-50 Families living? It's surely a bad Idea for private banks, so this means people living in remote places won't have any hospitals or banks, I think the solution lies in between.
Places like 40-50 families should not exist.
Even when govt opens hospitals they are largely non functional or govt schools don't have teachers.

Certain psu like bsnl, airport authority (AAI), SBI etc are required to be kept with govt so that connectivity, distribution and extending govt schemes etc. can be maintained. Private will only go for profit.

A nation without national carrier, Companies like LIC, BHATAT PETROLEUM, SAIL still paying government thousand crore rupees as dividend every year. After GO Air become bankrupt, other private airlines charged around 60000₹ fare Manipur, EPFO gives around 2500₹ per month pension once you reached the age of sixty. How people are going to survive?
money being put to good use will raise incomes and people would be able to invest in better pension schemes. Problems like go air crash can be easily fixed by capping prices in emergency situations you don't need to run your own airlines for that. Dividend that we are talking about comes from companies like BPCL is because oil is state controlled in india there is no private competition. LIC was important when there were no private insurers in the country.

BSNL could be a strategic investment
In case of a huge disaster can any Govt. trust private telecom companies to join mitigation efforts.
Should Govt have its own Power, Transport and Communication companies.
But before privatization, laws should be put in place to keep the private companies in check. Or else u can see what is happening in health market in USA.
And for that my friend, u need people in govt who understand economy and don't just depend on taxes collected from fuel surcharge to run the country.
Going by the conversation, I guess most people don't know the concept of a welfare state 😅
For that y0u need to be economically prosperous first

The title of the video should be the impact of old pension scheme.
BSNL took years to give back rs.3000 deposit of telephone landline equipment that, too, with so many visit to their government office, which is real Sarkari. So, my experience with BSNL is really bad. They gave that 3000 rs after so long time that too in the form of demand draft not cash. 😂😂
BSNL has no strategic opportunity. It is burden on taxpayers. Govt should have rather given those 80 thousand crore to jio n airtel for those "strategic important" work.
It's not just corruption. It is taxpayer's money being wasted rather than put into their welfare.

Not 20k 25k....its only 2k....I have a live example.....Person got retired in 2022 and was enrolled in NPS for 10 12 years.... It got 40% of his own contribution only as lumpsum on retirement.....

Old pension scheme is not required, just let the pension fund managers be accountable and make sure atleast 50% last drawn salary is paid .avg age of death is 70 years. Let the employees atleast get 10 years half salary. Instead of recruiting young people they are paying more to retired persons to serve again. Why on earth they should work beyond 62 . You can pay them both salary and pension but cant make sure ops. Wtf
BSNL is coming out of loss. They are not doing away because, BSNL infrastructure is still best. If right persons are appointed we can turn it around. There should be atleast one company owned by the govt.

@@lokeshwaranvr still, their gdp output is huge, and if the USA can manage their debt crisis for a few more years, then the Chinese can also manage that crisis because they have a huge amount of exports. And Chinese will surpass US gdp in the next 7-10 years.
Modi is all for privatisation. In some areas it takes time. Doordarshan provides services in rural areas. Poor people can't get access to D2H. Privatisation in big PSUs like ONGC is already started. Areas connected to defence and sensitive matters can't be privatised. The Modi government is going in the right direction. In govt depts there is corruption, but in private there are illegal activities, tax evasion, scams and escape from the country.

@@sidharthsuman3352 In time of need or emergency, a private entity can decline to give their services. Whereas a public entity(In this case BSNL) is bound to give their services to the government. Public entities will work for the welfare of citizens not for profit. BSNL is giving service to a remote place where only 10 houses exist, whereas Jio/Airtel is not because there is not profit for them in their.

You can always ask private telecom network to provide service during emergency and they wont have the power to decline, unless they don't want to operate in india in future.
