Not sure why you think Sainz couldn't do a year at Mercedes and then skip over to Audi for the new regs. Yes, I realize Sainz wants a multi-year deal and Mercedes isn't likely to give it. But that's within Sainz's control. And hilariously, the Mercedes may very well be a better car than the Ferrari for 2025 which would give Sainz great satisfaction.
I thought this was the case at first, but then I thought it would make more sense to give Kimi a full year in 2025 to adjust and then have him be ready for 2026. Its also not good for Audi to have a driver that they know cant commit to them fully. The reason is also that Williams are not in the same position like in 2019 financially and Mercedes cant just put in Kimi at Williams like they are a junior team for Mercedes. Williams are on the bounce back as its own team and its looking at 2 experienced drivers in the car, therefore if Kimi was to get a seat in 2025, it would be in Mercedes and therefore Sainz cant join. Sainz should just join Audi next year and take the year as it comes. Thats fully in his control. Drop the big expectation and just get to work building that team up.
Mercedes looks like they will be better than Ferrari and everyone else in 2025. Ferrari would do better to focus on the new regs, RBR and McLaren too. Leave Merc to focus on next year.
I don't agree, maybe?
And yet... What a discovery. Interesting video. Subscribed
