How Bad is Lance Stroll Really?

- Lance Stroll has been racing in Formula 1 for over 8 years now. In this video I break down his disastrous career and we take a look at exactly how bad he really is compared to his teammates. Enjoy the video!
#f1 #formula1 #lancestroll
This aged well.
You mean because of Shanghai crash ?
Lmao.
Truly one of the dum fuk of all time.
Too blind to even use his mirrors.
And will keep aging better.
@@AIuyn YOU THINK?
He’s taking a seat a from a better driver while his dad is also fighting to keep the number of available seats in F1 low by denying Andretti a spot in the grid.
The stroller family is everything wrong with F1
2 less drivers to take places off his son. Guy's smart.
Who cares…………….his Dads contribution is major, took a nothing team which is on the way up, in the las5 two years only three drivers have won a race, does anybody care about Seargeant, Ocon , Gasly, Guanyu, Bottas or any Haas driver over the last 6 years others, he’s a pay driver, live with it, it makes no difference. The sport is better with Lawrence than without.
@@canebuilder3520I would say this is a hot take, but this is a stupid take.
@@xavigc5642 he makes a point, it's a stupid point, but a point nonetheless. It might be true to say that the team would've been long dead without Lawrence his money though. But i don't see how that is a bad thing exactly, other and new teams would have come in to replace it.
The timing of this video is fucking gold.
Haha, so true
why ? what happened ?
@@SuperPierre972 Stroll crashing into the back of Ricciardo under safety car, in the entry of a hairpin. He looked at the apex, and didn't slow down so he hit Daniel and blamed Daniel and anything and everything other than himself
Ah yes true. This f*cker. Almost forgot. Lol
@@Cronin_obviously rich people never admit fault.
Not an F1 Driver, just a Driver in F1.
F3 driver in F1 to be more precise (thanks to daddy's sweet sweet money)
Simple and elegantly described. Well said sir
Dont try to misguide people here.
He is more like qualified for F1 academy driver.
even f3 do better
The irony of this season is my favourite team has both my favourite driver and the driver i despise the most 😅
I'm gonna need some tips on how to deal with this situation in the next season 😅
I share your feelings about the Austin Martin drivers let's go Alfonso !!!! Cant stand stroll.
@@matejholarek7245 Damn … shots fired 😂. My wild guess is that you are talking about the our beloved Lord Perceval and the other guy 😂
Bout to happen to me next year with Ferrari 😅
I'm so with you.
I'm a new fan to f1, and he's annoying me already
Same!
As someone who was also new fan a few years ago:
At first I thought: "What is this meme? This guy is alright I think?"
He ain't alright.
Hahaah
Good.
It’ll get worse. I’m an Andretti fan
I think it's unfair comparing Stroll to Ricciardo. Ricciardo has had his moments winning races and poles. Stroll's never achieved anything close to that.
Well, Stroll did get a couple of podiums, and a pole position in Turkey a few years ago. But yes, Ricciardo is still much better than him obviously.
I think it is fair to compare them in the exact way that was shown in the video, taking what is at face value rather than what has happened in the past. Yes Riccardo is a true F1 driver and champion but it sure doesn't look like it these days.
Dan Ric earned his moments on merit and hard work. His time in F1 might be done soon, but he was an asset to the sport unlike Lance the moocher.
You should also consider qualifying times, the win/loss ratio in quali vs team mate, average net difference in lap times vs team mate, and start position differences vs team mate. I think those will *really* highlight how shit Stroll is.
I'd need to look at those stats myself to be certain, but I'm pretty sure he's regularly in the region of 0.5s down on his team mate in qualifying/practice times, as well as in racing lap times
You may also include the number of unforced errors and the number of incidents under investigation. Please don’t look at the results of these investigations, as I get the impression that somehow he gets away with more than others (there is a running gag that his father is there with a check).
@@RoysIdeaI mean you are looking at a driver who managed to crash into another car during a cooldown lap.
So is Perez, but no one says shit because he’s in a Red Bull
@@justinburley8659 Mate, at least Perez actually contributes to Red Bull's team Championships.
The existence of Stroll in a team simply equals to a ballast that guarantees a team finishing the season in a position lower than what they're expected to
@@3ormorecharactersmaybe5 Does he? Remember, Max’s point alone would have won Red Bull the championship last year
Currently, Alonso has 31 points, and Stroll has 9 points. That's all you need to know. Daddy must remove Junior from the car and put him in the bay where "his technical knowledge" is utilized. Then, they need to find a better driver who can eventually take over from Alonso when he eventually retires. If they wait, it'll be too late to train up someone better.
Thanks for the excellent analysis. I fully agree with you!
The only way Stroll leaves F1 is if daddy packs up, sells the team and takes his sponsorship money with him.
Also Astion Martins car is really bad compared to the last start of the season...
@@ilnoctover 1 lap it's decent, alonso has had a few decent qualies now and stroll is waaay behind.
"Utilize his technical knowledge"? Implying he even has it, this is work, and work is for plebs, don'tchaknow! Baby Lance is only ever good at sucking his silver spo... Oops, I meant he's WAY above typical pleb work!
simple answer: very
complex answer: this video
If only his team was cognizant of how bad he is.
They all know, but they can't fire the boss' baby.
Nice sponsor pun.
I'm imagining they all laugh about it. If you don't laugh, you cry
Everyone on the team, including his father, know he's not good enough to be an F1 driver. That's why his father bought the team, to give his son a seat in F1 that he didn't deserve.
I wonder how the technical staff try to explain Lance's bad performances to the boss without mentioning Lance's bad performances.
Hell no! You are 100% correct, my friend! F1 is the pinnacle for car races, and Stroll does NOT drive like he belongs there
You know how some people ask for a regular person to compete in the Olympics just so they can understand how big the gap of talent and performance is to the professional athletes? The benefit to having Stroll in F1, is that he provides that benchmark of mediocrity for everyone else to understand the caliber of people racing around him.
Stroll is even worse than a regular person. Let’s not forget Stroll has the money to practice on circuits around the world while driving the highest performance cars. Stroll has bought his motorsports career. A regular person doesn’t have access to that experience and practice that’s bought.
The big difference is unlike Stroll most people would race with a basic understanding of sportmanship, a quality that cannot be acquired with money and which he has shown time and time again he does not posess.
I laughed when I realized u posted this video before the China GP, Lance was lucky to not DNF there too. Poor Danny Ric
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I just realized that now
The credibility of Aston itself is at stake with the window cleaner's continuing escapades. Edited because AI doesn't like licker
How is Alonso in the headlines and some rich guy sponsoring his son's extravagant lifestyle not appealing to the exact target market for Aston Martin?
"Window licker", there i said it for you
Window licker???
@@shauncampbell6441if you view F1 as nothing more than an ad campaign then I suggest you stop watching, lol. Yes the image fits, no it shouldn’t in a competitive sporting environment.
Love how all this videos i've seen were made before the shanghai race
Only time Stroll is on same level with Alonzo Is if maybe Fernando drives blind folded and drunk.
Even in 2017, Stroll got 15/40 of his points from chaos race of Baku, where Massa would've finished ahead of him without technical issues.
For decades F1 insiders and fans have declared it to be the greatest racing series in the world with only the greatest drivers. It turns out, nah, only about half of the drivers really belong at that level. The rest are there because of money or development deals.
There aren’t a lot of drivers outside of f1 that’d fit into the series, you have Palou, Rovanpera, and Fuoco, and then maybe some others like O’Ward or Herta. Only one of those I thinkd stand out in f1 is palou the rest of them after a couple of years’d struggle to be better than a backmarker and would be driving for such teams. Albons in a backmarker team right now and he’s a good driver, there is no driver in any other motorsports that’d be able to compete with f1s top 9 in standings besides maybe Piastri.
the difference between lance and danny is that daniel doesn’t rear end others under a safety car.
😂😂😂
“It was the constantino effect!”
Kinda crazy that the gap between verstappen and perez is a lot smaller than the gap between perez and stroll
And they’re all in the same series
Finally someone says it!
I think drivers are too scared to say it because they may one day want to drive for Aston Martin but I don't know why commentators don't say it (too scared of his powerful daddy?)
He's just not good enough to be in F1. One thing he is good at though, is starting, he can gain some positions.
Foreign commentators aren't afraid to mock Stroll. Only the English speaking clowns kiss his butt.
stroll is trash tier
Crash tier
Lmao yes
If you want to make your car foolproof, there is nobody more qualified to give technical feedback than Lance Stroll.
Other drivers have recently said that the amount and importance of technical feedback the teams get from the drivers is usually FAR overexaggerated...
So yes, I guess we know why he's still here
In a nut shell, 1:5 race dnf ratio, just absurd.
what annoys me are the blind lance stroll "fans" who defend him by saying he was a formula 3 champ back in 2016 and had some podiums in 2020. wow. you know how long ago this was? were in 2024 now and his results are mostly really bad. a 6th place here and there doesnt make you a good driver when your teammate is there constantly, has podiums and demolishes you in the standings at the end of the year.
Especially when he was in his second F3 season racing against mostly not that notable drivers and/or who were in their first F3 seasons (George Russell for example) sitting in the by far best team‘s car
I mean you still have to win it so he deserves credit I guess but that should explain how he was able to
So are you saying that he deserves absolutely no one in his corner?
In Canada his career gets no attention. The Cdn driver to follow is Zach Robichon in WEC.
i try to forget he's a fellow canadian. Disgrace to what F1 should have - the best circuit racers in the world. Amount of crashes should put him in oval dirt racing or something.
Lance in comparison to the average person is a good driver compared to an f1 driver absolutely not.
Lance is 10x better than me. Too bad that he's 5x worse than Alonso.
Meaningless statement, of course the worst f1 driver is going to be better than the best of us non-F1 drivers. He's had any number of advantages that we'll never have. Look at the reaction to the crash after the race by Verstappen and co, they can't believe it, and have to stifle their laughter.
@TravisHi_YT shut up daddy stroll, and i will be together forever. Stop making fun of my hubby.
Anyone that says Lance Stroll is worthy of being a F1 driver is crazy. That being said, he's still a very good driver. I'd guess top 50 available drivers in the world. I'd love to see him go to another series to see how he can do elsewhere.
You simply dont get it, he just saves his energy all season for the one/two races where he randomly channels senna's ghost, and then returns to doing nothing
You're harsh? I say you're not harsh enough! 😂 Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it. That entitled spoilt brat don't deserve to be there and yes we know his dad owns the team. Sadly that's how F1 operates, all about money... Nuff said.....
'His dad owns a dealership, bro!' sums up the situation pretty well for the ATHF1 crew.
he's awful just look at what he did to danny ric in china he's a danger to other drivers
Behind the scenes, Lance calls the team owner 'dad'. That's enough to keep his seat in F1.
Never mix family and business. Ever. Even if you think you’re the most logical person on earth and the math makes sense, still don’t do it. It never works out. His dad made an emotional choice to pick him and now he’s making an emotional choice to keep him. Firing his son will be a double edged sword. Always pick the right person for the job based on skill, not blood.
Sounds like nepotism gone wild.
Alonso built a 20s gap for Stroll in Monaco today, by holding up the back, to give Lance ahead a free pitstop. Only for Stroll to hit the wall after the pitstop, have a puncture and needing to pit again!
Very, boom saved u 8 minutes
Spot on. Stroll SNR is supposed to be an outstanding businessman, but how on earth he thought his son would be a World Champion is beyond me.
Imagine if the second Aston was driven by a competent driver! Stroll is daddy's son, his father encouraged him to pursue his dream, blind to the fact that he doesn't have the talent or drive to achieve greatness, let alone mid range results.
It’s what any father in Lawrence’s position would do. Lawrence is a terrifying businessman and people do what he wants. Most people in his position just throw money at the problem until they run out of money. He not only bought a massive entity(a formula one team), he also bought a luxury car company, one of the arguably greatest drivers ever to perform as a stop-gap/mentor for his son… TWICE(vettel/Alonso, Alonso being the GOAT candidate), then courted Honda back into the fold. He’s created the platform to provide his son an opportunity and has done what’s needed for lance’s ability. I personally don’t think lance will ever be champion, no matter what his father provides BUT… in the process, he’s providing incredibly well paying jobs for thousands, drama in F1(which runs on drama), new life into Aston Martin as a car manufacturer who, let’s face it was on their back foot, and the thing that every devoted dad wants for his son- the best opportunity to surpass himself possible. I don’t know of many people who can even drive an F1 car to its limits, let alone faster than Fernando F-ing Alonso(probably not his middle name) on occasion. I hated it at first too, as a fan of F1 for 30+ years. Then I looked at it objectively. When I did that, it was fascinating. This is the stuff movies are made of.
This is a pretty fair and rational analysis. I know people I simrace with who would likely be faster than Stroll, he just gets a doting (hopefully?) father to enable his attempts at proving he can drive fast. It would be very interesting if a team did similar to what Nissan did and fielded a candidate selected from professional eSports on a rotating basis, if only the superlicence terms could be fulfilled more easily.
from the Face, to the Name, to the Skills, to the Voice. is gold
Lance Stroll is a Made Man, no matter what he has done or will do he will never be wacked.
Stroll: Verb, to walk in a slow relaxed way, especially for pleasure. 😉👍
He is the pinnacle of F1 elitism😭
Give Riccardo the Aston Martin sest 🎉
Sorry, Riccardo is another one who had his chance, and he is blowing it big time. Time for both Danny and Lance to pack it in!
Lance Stroll and his dad represent the same blatant disregard for others shared by all those making Formula 1 possible. I love them because they highlight the ridiculousness of the whole sport
If anything Stroll is important to the F1 in the way that he provides much needed comedic relief during the race
Stroll also lost the qualifying duel vs Sirotkin in 2018. He never once won a team duel cleanly (both qualifying, races and points) and lost all other team duels in terms of points at least. He is absolutely the most unsuccessul driver relative to the chances he has had. Most others with his performance were fired/not extended after 2 years at most (look at Mick Schumacher for example). Also Vettel was already burnt out at his AM time. He had one of the worst seasons any multiple times champion ever had in 2020 and came to AM as a broken man that cared more about environmental effects of F1 instead of being a hungry racer...
I think you are being kind, your correct any other team he would be gone for sure.
F1 broadcast commentators in Brazil started to use the word "strolled" when someone crashes or do anything idiot in the race. Lmao
Hahaha
A lot has to do with the team. Ricardo was able to do well with a good car. He made some poor choices and at the height of his career was instead midland. Now he's on the end of his career and racing on a lower tier team.
If Stroll is the price we must pay to see Alonso gifted a competitive car, then I say, Thank You Lance!
oof, I never thought about it like this, thanks! Definitely makes me feel a bit better about a shitty situation.
“Sort of like another driver currently” 💀
The real test would be if Aston Martin let Lance go, would any other team want him?
Lance Stroll is an average driver, not the best and not the worse. But if someone is a billionaire, loves their son, why wouldn't they buy him an F1 team?
To be fair, Aston Martin employing Alonso, isn't making Lance's ability shine, if Lawrence Stroll really loved his son he would make sure that the second driver was no better than Lance.
i would like to see the comparison between other similar scoring team's secondary drivers through the years hes competed in. For a backfield driver i feel like hes had a few world champ drivers so maybe theres some interesting data there. Despite that, its honestly just been a shame for aston the last few years, they could be doing a lot more on the track.
When Lawrence acquired Force India and renamed it Racing Point, should've have renamed it Force Dad.
Stroll and Sargeant need to go and make room for some drivers that can perform.
"You don't hop into a monocoque to be a driver, you do it because you're driven"
Lance Stroll isn't driven, he's just wealthy enough to afford F1 as a hobby. His seat could go to so many other drivers who are driving themselves towards greatness and improving their craft.
Love how we critique stroll but still got guys like Sargent and mag and hulk……….
Well said, sir 👏🏼 Accurate, and backed up with facts & stats, which not a lot of people bother to do nowadays…. His Dad should just give him something else more meaningful to do in the organisation, so that Lance can stop embarrassing himself in the car whilst putting other drivers lives at risk…
It's obvious, dad owns team, son drives for dad. Son is hopeless. Dad won't think of giving Sianz sons seat. Dad won't think of Bearman or other. Just keep the hopeless son in the seat.
300 square inch jam licking per hour.
SCIENCE !!
It's not being harsh if all you do is check numbers and compare
i feel like a lack of comparison from other drivers both better and worse makes it a bit hard to see how bad he might be
I feel like the failure / crash statistic is unfair you need to separate engine failures, gear box problems etc. From crashes which are driver error. You should also add penalty points accrued vs team mates and the grid as a whole.
One factor that is underemphasized is Alonso’s age. All recent drivers including Schumacher have experienced significant drops in performance in their 40s. Alonso is doubtless experiencing the same, but this is disguised by the ineptitude of Stroll. Stroll is being soundly beaten by a team mate who is well past retirement age.
Honestly he really isn’t tho, he’s been doing well all things considered.
I have to admit, going from the back of the grid to 10th in Bahrain this year was really impressive from stroll, but he then followed that up by fucking it into the wall in the first couple laps literally the next weekend
Aston Martins should give Felipe Drugovich a run for the rest of the season. Stroll doesn't even want to be there anymore.
Yeah now that you put it so simply and visually. I was kinda thinking the same thing just after watching the last Chinese Grand prix. I completely agree that he wouldve been sacked if it wasnt for his dad owning the f1 team and I also thought about how someone like Fernando alonso feels about driving agianst someone like him. Like isnt he frustrated about it? 😂 Id be pissed of my teammate was stroll if I was world championship material
F1 2012 music there 😁👀
Everybody knows that but truth is that he Will be in that Car AS long AS he wants to.😅
His contract states that as long as his Dad is the head of the Team, he get's to have a guaranteed seat in the car. The moment his father steps out or sells his shares, that guarantee is forfeited and there is just no defendable reason to keep him on the grid, with so many great racers eager to join the top ranks of the sport.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Stroll has no place on the grid without his dad
Your 100% spot on, there are many many other better drivers are not givin a chance because is dad is the boss
"Daaaaad! Daaadddy! Please don't fire me! I really really want to be a Formula One driiiiiiiiiveeer!!"
Between Spain and Mugello in 2020 he seemed to FINALLY found his groove, he had a brilliant strategy in Monza and was running in 3rd to get a podium that would be 100% on merit, but them either his tyre blew or his suspension gave way, after that he came back to shit old Stroll.
At first I saw a nice infromative video.... than 7:36 dropped :)) ... perfect conclusion. cheers
Also, you can list the parts that really showed his... "skill".
The moment where he almost killed Fernando by just steering in to him while Fernando was alongside.
Or just this weekend how he rode in to Ricciardo under safety car...
Could be a good video.
He has moments where he truly looks like he's in his element and pulls off some of the most ridiculous passes only to make a boneheaded decision like six turns later and fucking crash. I won't say that he outright doesn't deserve a seat, but I will say that he has not deserved the seat that he's retained as long as he has. It sounds like he would be a better test driver
Stroll for sure belong to F1. We have a variety of people, why hate Stroll? Leave him alone, he is doing his story, let him do what the hell he wants
Lance can improve, apparently he isn't rigid with his braking zone, which is his problem. He just needs to work on his braking zone and his short term memory. Because if someone is driving an F1 car and doesn't instinctively brake at a certain place, he has a memory issue first. This could also be an issue with the lack of practise in F1.
It’s pretty brutal to be honest. But the assessment seems accurate.
The way I see it is If he stays in F1, then Riccardo deserves to stay in as well!
Perfect assessment, and yeah good timing lol
Btw i am a Lando stan since '20, never seen DTS, and im still so happy.
That was said just to say it's a shame to see this other side of the F1 spectrum. Lando worked so hard since the beginning of his career, honest and good performances, and he finally got a win. Same with Zhou in Shanghai. It was fucking precious to see the kid cry out of pride.
And then we got this Dum Fuk here.
Ithink you werent harsh at all man its all facts yet he's still in f1 and the only skills he has are his lack of awareness and pissing off other drivers
My conspiracy theory is that it was so clear how outmatched Stroll was when the car was good that they dragged chadlonso back down to the rear of the grid in 2024 to beat him with experience
Spot on. But the saddest thing here? I feel like stroll could care less if he was a F1 driver or not, really. He's doing it because he can, and even because his dad is forcing him to in a way i think. Meanwhile any lower tier driver would give anything to get that seat. You can tell Lance would rather be anywhere else. If he was really committed to do the best he could, there is no reason why he wouldn't be fairly close to Fernando on any given qualy and race day. That's my thought.
His face is just like "punch me. Punch me hard".
Your assessment is hard but absolutely fair, Stroll is a great driver... if you compare him to a layperson... but not F1 material.
Mike Krack is doing his team a disservice with comments like that... being a "Yes" man to Lawrence is not going to win Aston Martin world championships.
Any of Alonso's comments on Lance have to be understood within the context of Alonso's own self-interest. I think history has shown that Alonso operates better with a lesser teammate, rather than one that is on par with him.
Martin Whitmarsh is not stupid... and surely will be biding his time... making sure Lance is seen as being completely supported by the team, whilst he works out how to engineer Lance's exit, but not lose his Dad's money and investment.
ps... because if this video, I have subscribed... 👍
The background music is from F1 2012 game. Nice.
Stroll being in F1 is a spit in the face to motorsports
He has a place in F1, he should be the guy who holds the fire extinguisher during the pit stops
😢 unfortunately Lance really doesn't deserve to be in FI there are decent drivers who unfortunately do not have a drive or decent car as Aston Martin car which Alsono show what the car can do Maybe Lance could assist Aston Martin in other areas but not as talented driver unfortunately
I wouldn't mind if they took his F1 license after last weekend. It's one thing to make a mistake like that. It's something else the accuse only others and get angry when you're in the wrong. Especially in this setting and after seeing the videos.
Stroll is not a bad driver, but compression to any other young f1 potential talents out here... Someone in the board of Aston need ask him to take stroll.
My dad coached our soccer team when I was little, and he benched me because I sucked
Lance is typically 10th in the standing, do you recommend all drivers below 10th be fired?
In the wet somehow he seems to perform quite well (although didn't check his finishes there), but that's about it.
Halfway through the 2024 season and he's 10th of the 24 drivers in the table. You might think he's a daddys boy but he's no chump behind the wheel.
