When you were talking about the two hunters sitting in their truck, my refrigerator made a noise and I jumped - my mind was in that truck with those two scared hunters! Great job as always Chris!!
You probably already know but, I have to say it. When you put the new Coleman Mantels on, you are supposed to light them with a match and let them burn completely before you turn the gas on. Once cooled...hit the gas and light the match! My dad charged me with this task every time we set up camp. I'm about your age and I still use the old Coleman and stove too. Great story tonight...love every one. Thank you. God bless.
@Base Camp Chris. Hey Chris..no disrespect but, the mantles turning to ash after burning them first is exactly what is supposed to happen. As soon as you turn the gas on and relight the lantern they harden into a nice, rounded shell and last for a long time. But, if you touch them after the burn and before gas...then yes, they will crumble like ash as you said. I hope this helps. Please try and you will see. Love your videos and never miss one. God bless.
For the record, I’m now addicted to this channel. AND, we’re going camping next week in Toiyabe National, so of course I’ll be freaked out thinking of this story… 😰
@@basecampchris I camped with friends. There tent was super full of mildew. It started to pour and it leaked like crazy. I had allergies and got pretty sick. Real misery!
Went for a walk recently in the woods close to my home . After awhile I started to hear weird eerie almost like crying noise I got so creeped out then I looked up and realized it was the trees making that noise . Thank God it was day time because if it was night time I would have thought I was hearing demons 😆 Nature can be so creepy and spooky . Idk how people can camp alone at night, I would be seeing and hearing things just from my imagination alone . Good for you that you can do that 👍
Me too. I love camping, but I would not do it by myself. I would freak out and be a nervous wreck. I do, however, love watching others camp and tell scary stories 👍🏕
Don't know how you do it, Chris? Tell spooky stories in the thick of it all. Lol I ended up watching this on my break while waiting to unlock my first gate at a remote park on Vancouver Island, in North Saanich. It's pitch black out here. I leave the patrol cR running with headlamps lighting up the parking lot. I work as a graveyard shift mobile security guard driver.
It's about mind over matter and realizing there is nothing there in the dark that isn't there in the light, even if it is Wendigo. I find getting familiar with forest sounds during the daylight hours help people realize this. It also helps to state your intentions before entering any forest telling any resident entities that you are aware of their presence and mean them no harm, so you will accept no harm in return. Try leaving a small offering as part of the process. Always go armed and with tracking because they seem not to mess with armed folks carrying spot devices or others like them. And if after all this you get a strong gut instinct that you aren't wanted there or you're not supposed to be there, listen to your gut and leave, find another forest and repeat or save it for another day. Good luck.

1973, definitely can relate, when you mentioned Sears, made think of the catalogs, especially the Christmas ones, Montgomery Ward, Spiegel's, catalog, big thick wish books, I grew up at the foot of the Kings Canyon National park, about 32 miles from Fresno, Giant redwoods, Hume lake, rivers, back in the 70s , good times. Just subscribed, enjoying the stories. Oh yeah, 70s rule, loved that decade.
Boy, does that Coleman lantern take me back. The suds, the meal, the story, the location - I love it all. Does the peanut butter stout taste of peanut butter at all? Happy hiking, Chris!
You’re dinner looks tempting . In fact it made me hungry, so i had to put you on pause so I could get myself something to eat. Not as good as your feast but enough to quiet the tummy squeaks! I enjoyed your story this evening. Thank you for your sharing. 🧐✨
I've hunted central and north Idaho a number of times, including the Payette National Forest, Yellowpine, Elk City, the St. Joe River drainage, Middle Fork of the Salmon River, and the Frank Church wilderness (so designated by Congress in 1980). It IS rugged country to be sure. Strange sights and sounds abound in those regions. Great story this edition. Stay safe out there.
I took the kids camping in Colorado out in an area past Deckers, and we went to sleep. Really early in the am I hear this wired crunching sound right outside or tent- I mean like 1 to 2 feet- so I peak outside- and there is a cow standing in the middle camp fire ring munching away on the charcole left from our fire the night before!! I was like you’ve got to be kidding me. Cow was totally happy. Let out a really LOUD mooo,. Cows didn’t really care about us one way or the other. It was pretty funny😂
What a Beautiful setting !! With the peaceful creek , the pines trees 🌲 and a gorgeous mountains with snow on top , I’m ready to go camping .. cows for a company.. what else you need ?? Thanks Chris for your stories and taking us along !!! 🥾 🏔 🌲 ⛺️ 🏕
You are pretty dang brave knowing these stories and going camping by yourself. I used to hike a ton by myself and after watching all these Bigfoot and dogman podcasts I am to scared to go by myself now.
Another great story thank you! I look forward to a new video from you. Why on earth would you unload your rifle and put it away, then hide in a truck thinking it offers you some form of protection??? Then you piss it off by shining a bright light in it's direction??? You're out there and you're not going anywhere. Start the truck, blast the radio and keep your rifle with you. Do everything you can to project your dominance over what scares you.
Hey Chris . My wife and I have started to do some hiking. Can’t believe how we love it. The quietness’s, the beauty of it, the wild life we are seeing. We are trying to do 1 a week or 2. Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you for the inspiration to do it!
On a hunting trip on private land here in Tennessee (I won’t disclose the area)!we were about 10 miles from anywhere, I kept hearing a BABY cry! It sounded like a human infant! It would stop for a while and then start again but in a different location. I came to a point where the game trail had been blocked with uprooted trees and boulders when I got the butt puckering CREEPS! Then I could hear the baby start crying n the other side of the blockade but closer than I had heard it to that point! I could not get out of there fast enough. If the mother of the baby blocked my path with logs, trees and boulders I couldn’t even roll over, was on the other side? I wanted NOTHING to do with her! I hoped she got her babies colic under control and wished her well while getting my ass out of there! I don’t think my sphincter relaxed until I was sitting in my truck with the doors locked! I’ve NEVER told anyone this until now. I figure folks will think that my cheese slipped off my cracker.
Wow! Beautiful spot Chris, I just think it's amazing that I can sot of share your camping experiences with you even though I'm thousands of miles away in the UK. Technology is truly awesome!

Big fan of Base Camp Chris. Gotta be my favorite video. It's because I love the 1970s camping gear too! A very fun time to be a kid and camp. Oh ! Starting a retro camping line would be fun
Not lying when I say that Chris has got to be the bravest guy I never met...Lol...He's alone, at night, in the woods, in the mountains where all of the Sasquatch encounters take place and telling these scary stories about real people that have had real experiences. whether it be hearing a Big Foot or actually seeing one...I would be scared to death...I absolutely could NEVER do this...Not even if I was in my own backyard with a couple of trees and bushes...My imagination would be running wild with every leaf that rustled....😮
My next door neighbor had the Ted Williams tent also, we would set it up on my parents property in the beginning of summer and use it as a fort all summer long. Good times the 70's were.
Happy independence day Chris and followers! I put this video off until tonight because I think this channel is special! Thank you for another fantastic story It's really beautiful there! I grew up in the 70's and we went camping alot here in Texas. Matter of fact, Huntsville State Park was our go to place and there have been lots of Bigfoot stories out of there. I wish we had run into one. Hmm maybe not. Lol
I grew up with the old Hurricane lanterns as well as in later years we had the Primus pump up kanterns. Only problem with them was the mantles mostly didn't last as they broke so yes always a ready supply of spares. Stunning campsite Chris with the river backdrop and a nifty canyon area. Looking forward to Part 2 mate. Bushyboy Oz.
Ha ha Nothing better than Peanut Bwerery. 🤭 always entertaining and a bit scary. I listen to these just before bed on Sunday nights and cheers you with a glass of water! I think Im going to start having an Adnams beer instead. They have oddnames too like Ghost Ship.👻 🇬🇧
Great to see you back out camping again. I’ve missed the camping and the delicious meals you cook. As always, that was a kewl story you told. Am already looking forward to part 2 of your adventure!
Chris, this reminds me of shark cage diving where they throw buckets of chum in the ocean to draw the sharks in close to the cage so people can be up close to the sharks.....you cooking Salmon in the very spot where there have been several BIGFOOT SIGHTINGS!😬😖 you are very brave Chris!
HAAA! I have a Coleman lantern & stove! Leftover from my old camping days, but great when the power goes off in the winter! I was the one who just had to touch the canvas tent during a rain! My now ex said, "what did you do??" Luckily the sleep bags dried out the next day. We did dirt bikes in the White mtns of eastern AZ!💖
I was 6 in 1973 but camping was part of my childhood. I remember a few trips up in the Stanislaus Area....lived in California til 83. Anyway, I am enjoying your channel.
Love the story telling ! Here's an idea for you ... when you're enjoying your beer & the taste is great... try adding a little into your pork or beef & veggies / potatoes when you cook them . Not only does It add flavor but it helps to cook the food tender a little faster than just with oil . ;)
So I just started watching your channel and I’m hooked. I’m from Texas, actually a really small town Blanket pop 342 and live in the country. I have to say I so enjoy your videos. I usually only see Texas country and hear Texas stories. This camp is kind of of what I see beside the mountain peak. I have lots of hunting and back woods stories but none like these. I guess Bigfoot doesn’t like the Texas climate or landscape. Lol. Anyways enjoy these so much! Keep on! And stay safe.
Did not know that thanks.
I did just that...didn't film it....turns them to ash.
Hello 👋 Chris, thank you for sharing another thrilling episode from Base Camp 🏕 Chris Mystery Theater. Your stories are getting more exciting. Your stories Remind me of weekend camping 🏕 with my Dad in Northern California during the 70s. On Saturday evening. I would tune to a radio station KSL in Salt Lake City and listen to E.G. Marshall's
Mystery Theater. Those were fun times. Take good care of yourself and keep those great stories coming along. 🤗
Man I just happened to come across your channel and I’m hooked!! I love how you set the ambiance for your spooky stories..and you are such a great storyteller..I feel like I’m right there..love it!and love that you have a beer!

😂😂 I go on my bike and my treadmill when I'm watching your videos and this one here I was walking away on the treadmill and you couldn't pronounce Brewery and I had to put my treadmill to a. Because I was laughing so hard. Maybe watching your videos while I'm on a treadmill is a dangerous move LMFAO😂
Thanks Chris for another great story. Keep them coming. Cheers!!
Thanks, will do!
Do what makes you happy , outdoor stuff, and tell scary stories. love it Chris.
Thanks Roxann! C🌲
GREAT. CAMPING.
Thank you Mark!! Keep Hiking!
Boy, does that Coleman lantern take me back. The suds, the meal, the story, the location - I love it all. Does the peanut butter stout taste of peanut butter at all? Happy hiking, Chris!
I love when Chris says, “That’s next. “ hahah that’s how you know it’s gonna be a good one.
Great Story Chris. You do a Great Job of Painting a Picture of the Story when you tell one. Can’t wait for the next one.👍👍
Thanks 👍
your personality is so awesome!!!! love your channel!!!!....regards from Panamá.
FYI Chevy pickups back then we're C10, C20 and C30. Half, 3/4 and 1 ton. Good story telling.
All the cool stuff from the 70s and the super spooky story! That was amazing. Thank you!
Love listening to your stories and watching your adventures!
Love from Scotland 🏴
I took the kids camping in Colorado out in an area past Deckers, and we went to sleep. Really early in the am I hear this wired crunching sound right outside or tent- I mean like 1 to 2 feet- so I peak outside- and there is a cow standing in the middle camp fire ring munching away on the charcole left from our fire the night before!! I was like you’ve got to be kidding me. Cow was totally happy. Let out a really LOUD mooo,. Cows didn’t really care about us one way or the other. It was pretty funny😂
Yes! Story and camp cook, love it👍
Another great tale. Campsite looks awesome. Looking forward to part 2.
Thanks 👍
Great story. I have to tell , I laughed so hard when you were throwing things in the tent. I needed that, haven't laughed in days.
Awesome part 1 Chris, really enjoyed this one, thanks for taking us along. Sam
Payette National Forest ~ our old stomping grounds 2003-05 while my husband was stationed 3 hours south at Mtn. Home AFB, Idaho. Beautiful country!
What a Beautiful setting !! With the peaceful creek , the pines trees 🌲 and a gorgeous mountains with snow on top , I’m ready to go camping .. cows for a company.. what else you need ?? Thanks Chris for your stories and taking us along !!! 🥾 🏔 🌲 ⛺️ 🏕
Love, LOVE it. You have no idea how your videos help me. Thank you Chris.
Hahahahahah...you're too funny. That is hard to say isn't it ? I'm so glad I found your channel and began .listening to these stories people write.
We are trying to do 1 a week or
2.
Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you for the inspiration to do it!
That is awesome!
Wow. You had some kind of encounter there… scary yet awesome.
You referenced your ass 4 times in telling your story. I believe good decorum limits it to 3. Peace out😊
@@jackfischer5153how about you experience your own encounter first and then judge others.
Fisher cats sound like a baby crying.
Wow! Beautiful spot Chris, I just think it's amazing that I can sot of share your camping experiences with you even though I'm thousands of miles away in the UK. Technology is truly awesome!
I LOVE the SEARS, Ted tent! It’s absolutely brilliant! Thank you for sharing this amazing story.
🇨🇦yeah! Just when I need an excuse to sit down and have a break🇨🇦🌞
One of my favorite meals is salmon with asparagus. Not to mention a good beer to go with it.
Me too
Great story-especially with that total darkness behind you!😵💫😬
Thanks for listening
Im.a 70s kid, too, Chris I totally agree, the 70s was the best time to grow up. Music, clothes, the whole 9.
Wow I don't know how you can talked about scary stuff in the middle of the forest at night. I already get goosebumps in the house already..
Beautiful little campground. Loved the stream. I look forward to uour Sunday evening story. Kind of glad there were 🐄 there. Does that mean no bears? Hope you were camping with your girlfriend!
Great scary story Chris...I enjoyed this very much .... and nice place to camp and cook and eat and enjoy the nature around us ...thanks for sharing this story and your video.....loved it Chris ..have a great 4 th Chris 🍉🍦🎆🎉🎊🔥🇺🇲💖
I injoy every video this channel has. I get happy when a new video comes out .
Happy to hear that!
@@basecampchris your awesome. You inspire me to go camping more. I watched the videos with my family and we love them. thank you so much .
Is it me or was there a WHISTLE at 11:12?😳 Chris, love your channel. Thank you!👍🏼👋🏼🏕
And the eye shine to his right?😮
What a beautiful location this will make a real nice camp site, and you are a very accomplished camper
Man, you certainly know how to stretch a story out! Great video.
Love the way you throw that tent up. I reckon you've done that before! Liked and yes I subscribed tonight, although my computer naturally looks for you on it's own, now! lol. Great story and the beer looked real nice. Love to you and yours from Englands south coast. No Bigfoots here. That's where you come in! Thanks for the entertainment, brave Buddy.
I'm pretty sure you have to put some salt in with the gun powder of your bullets for cryptids.
You forgot to say blessing at dinner.
Poor cow is wearing the damn dinner bell.😮
Yeah…..not cool! Poor poor innocent animal. 😢
Big fan of Base Camp Chris. Gotta be my favorite video. It's because I love the 1970s camping gear too! A very fun time to be a kid and camp. Oh ! Starting a retro camping line would be fun
Thank you Chris, for giving me a giggle at the start after a very trying day!
👀🌲🦉👍
In one of your earlier stories you said a lone camper saw a black figure jumping from boulder to boulder extremely fast down a slope. Creepy.
My next door neighbor had the Ted Williams tent also, we would set it up on my parents property in the beginning of summer and use it as a fort all summer long. Good times the 70's were.
Happy independence day Chris and followers! I put this video off until tonight because I think this channel is special! Thank you for another fantastic story
It's really beautiful there!
I grew up in the 70's and we went camping alot here in Texas. Matter of fact, Huntsville State Park was our go to place and there have been lots of Bigfoot stories out of there. I wish we had run into one. Hmm maybe not. Lol
Your tent also had Sir Edmund Hillary endorsed as well. Thats interesting.
It did...It was a Green Sears/ Sir Edmund Hillary / Ted Williams Canvas tent!
Those mantles break if you bump the lamp. I still have one of those lamps and a pack of spare mantles.
That Hamburger joke really got me giggling. Good one Mr. Predator!
Hey Chris, really enjoy your videos. I’d love to see a fly fishing video from you sometime!
I can see why you like that tent I saw your video with the high winds. A great tent.
Thanks Chris, have a great 4th brother.
We had that same tent when I was a kid brought back memories seeing it
HAAA! I have a Coleman lantern & stove! Leftover from my old camping days, but great when the power goes off in the winter!
I was the one who just had to touch the canvas tent during a rain! My now ex said, "what did you do??"
Luckily the sleep bags dried out the next day.
We did dirt bikes in the White mtns of eastern AZ!💖
Thanks for incorporating a overnighter with a cool story. Keep hiking Chris 😊
How did I miss this video! I really like your videos that include a hike, camping trip and dinner all in one! KH Chris!
I love your content!
