Reminds me of something a Yosemite ranger once said about the difficulty of designing bear proof boxes "there is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists"

Soaking my feet in a mountain stream is what I'm always looking forward to when I travel to the Carpathians - a mountain range in Ukraine. Chris, your videos give me the so needed sense of hope that once the war in my country is over, I will be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ukraine again. Really enjoy your videos and your stories. Stay safe.

I like the question, "Can I ride the bison?" Yea, just ask the animal and most times they will say, "Get on, I'll take you for a ride!"
A sidebar. Check your battery on your car. It sounds like it's about to die soon. Just an observation. Thanks Chris!

Great video Chris. Nice mix of hiking, cooking and good advice on respecting wild animals' space. Unreal how some folks just walk right up to these dangerous animals. "When do they put them back in their cages?" Breathtaking naivety which could cost them their lives. KH!

hey Chris!! after watching the news clip of the incedent, "touron" was a sad description ( but true ) of the mindset of some people visiting our National Parks, seems like common sense is going the way of the dinosaur, very good video though.

Another good video! Thanks Chris. I wanted to relay a couple of things to you, after seeing your lantern prop, I went looking on Amazon for one and found one that I ordered and love. It is a NEBO 15 LED lantern / 9" battery operated traditional metal lantern design for indoor/outdoor use / rustic red. It has a well worn finish and a very realistic flickering flame, check it out. Also, when I was a kid, I read a bigfoot story that was very chilling that was supposedly told to Teddy Roosevelt about a early 1900's trapper and his partner, the man's name was Bauman. Id love to hear that tale again from you on a video.

I especially love the mountains, streams, reminding me of Day hikes to Lake Louise and following Fish crick to the inlet.
I am upset with myself for getting ( acidentally) too close to bison in Canada.I had a cast on my left leg, spun around and I was a foot away from Mrs Bison.
Woops. Scattered, 🐌 slowly outta there!

One time we were hiking into fish Slough Creek in YNP and we were heading to the second spot of Slough and we ran smack dab into a Moose cow and her calf. They were in a swampy area feeding only about 60 ft away as we came outta the trees and around a corner. We froze and then backed up slowly and went the long way. haha, it was more frightening than our grizzly encounter we had in YNP(50ft). The grizz took off, luckily as we had our whistles. we only saw his backside.

OMG Chris! I just now realized we were both working with the parks there in 1983-84. I worked for the US Magistrate for Teton National Park, and the park rangers were often in court dealing with what were usually low level crimes. If I recall right, there were two different grizzly attacks during that time, one in a campground and another a person solo camping. The rangers wouldn't talk about the solo camper mauling in front of me. Probably just as well.

Went to Yellowstone in the 70s and saw an idiot chasing a bison with a heavy old school video camera in his hands. He chased it across a road and down through some trees and into a meadow.. suddenly the bison spun around and charged him and the guy dropped his camcorder and made it to the trees where he had to hold up for who knows how long until it was safe to retrieve his gear. I remember my outdoor mom warning me as a child "Remember, Mother Nature doesn't give a hoot about you".
