Tim, thank you so much for making this video. Your companion video for the duffel bag worked so well in conjunction with your pattern and written instructions, and I know this will be the same. I can’t wait to get home to download your pattern and get started. Thank you for all your hard work!
Tim, I’ve downloaded the pattern and am looking over your instructions. You’ve outdone yourself! The level of detail is just fantastic! You so obviously care about what you do and want everyone who makes this backpack to enjoy themselves, get a great bag and learn. Thank you again. If anyone is reading this comment and wondering if you should get this pattern, do. You’ll be a better MYOGer by the end of the project.
@@danishskiwarehouse appreciate the kind words and initial review. The pattern instructions are definitely a labor of love. With the help of a stellar pattern review team, I'm confident everyone who devotes the time will be able to make this backpack!
Thank you for your detailed instructions!! I also appreciate all the helpful markings on the patterns and the layout of the instructions! Made it so easy to follow and not feel too daunted by the task! I just finished making mine (though my colour choices are a strong contrast lol)
I was looking for a bag that is big enough to overnight but small enough to commute with. I was excited to see your teaser for this. Now that I’ve built it and packed it, I think it’s going to be perfect for this use. This is a good pattern and a fun build. And it makes a great looking bag! I’m going to make more for family. Thank you for another great pattern!
Thanks for your review and time spent making the pattern during the pattern review period. Very happy the pack will fit into your gear selection filling a bag gap!
Finally ! I've been waiting this detailed video from you man ! I'll get the pattern soon .. This will be a great project... I love this design !Thank You ! Excellent video
It's just a game changer you show off the details of the bag before watching the whole video. It's wild to me how many MYOG and sewing videos barely show you the finished product in the video at all! Some even stop the video on the last stitch basically.
I'm excited to release the pattern out to you! If the YT Gods served you this video, welcome! I'd have an introduction video to the backpack design, packing example, and recommended fabrics. ua-cam.com/video/05VEFdsOWFo/v-deo.html This pack is made with Cordura 500 for the outer fabric and a 200d nylon oxford pack cloth for the lining. What fabrics will you use to make your own Porter Pony?!
Hi Tim, thanks for this amazing video! I love the packs you're making. Im just getting started into sewing, do you have any advice what sewing machine should i start with to make these packs and other accessories? Thank you! 🙏
Thank you for the detailed backpack its exactly what I am looking for. if I wanted to make a crossbody, could I adjust the strap to go one corner to the other opposite corner, would that work?
I imagine so and since the straps are removable you can give yourself options. You may want to consider designing a pretty wide strap to distribute weight on one shoulder. It’s a pretty big backpack and may get heavy.
@@LearnMYOG thanks for the reply and advice. Do you think your pattern would be ok to reduce in size about 10%. My son is a pilot and is wanting something similar ( backpack/ sling bag) to carry his laptop and his earphones. ? Apologies for all the questions.
@@joysullivan9031 because of the curves I don’t recommend shrinking by scale. To make less volume, you may covered modding the perimeter panels to make the pack less deep.
Just curious, what is the name, make and model of the binding attachment (at 44:10) and where did you get it. I have been looking for something like this. // Your videos are awesome. Thank you!

Amazing. This is the kind of sewing I need in my life. I have sewn a few dozen bags but this is a step up in design and detail!
Its a nice break from hiking and ultralight gear :)

This is a great video and I just purchased the pattern. If I put foam on all sides and top, how much would I need to lengthen the fabric? Thank you!

17:30 I'm gonna go with a calzone
I wish I could see the sewing technique.
What fabric did you use? Specifically, the shiny red fabric. Also what weights?
It’s Nylon Oxford also referred to as 200d pack cloth.
@@LearnMYOG thank you so much for the quick response. I really appreciate it.

It’s a right angle raw edge (single fold) binder combo set specific to the Juki 1181n. I think I bought at Cutex Sewing or random source off EBay.
@@LearnMYOG Thanks! Cutex had one. Works great!
