Even if you'd been sewing for years, that would be a fine bit of work. As a novice it's nothing short of astonishing! Very well done mate, I hope the pack serves you well 👏🏻👍🏻
@@itsmescottp were you at all tempted to seam seal joints when it was inside out? Messy and additional weight I know, plus you use pack liner. Not sure I recall you as fan of pack covers though. I just pack line and not fan of covers. I have used them but not keen on the faff of them. ATB - Chris
@theloneexplorer interesting... I love my sealed cuben pack due to saving use of pack liner . Its a revolation for me just shame MLD only make one effective size now. The prophet and exodus same now just longer for exodus and that is annoying
What a fantastic project, obviously a lot of thought and planning went into the design and making of it. Really like the features you've built into it and look forward to seeing how it works on the hills!
Something I've wanted to do for years but have always shied away from giving it a go. You've done a fantastic job there to say you've only been at it 2 weeks.
Mate, regardless of experience that’s a superb job. Great video detailing the features and process too. Some lovely features on it. Look forward to seeing how it does you in the mountains. Great work mate 👌🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Some cracking features to this. The magnets and the pole holder / retainer are really good ideas. Like you say, made for what you want. I like those bungy hooks on the front as well. Top work. 👍🏻 Can I ask what machine you’re using. Webbing etc is quite thick and your bar tacking as well. Cheers.
Awesome results Scott, well done! How did you go about planning the dimensions? Would you be happy to share the measurements/pattern so I can give it a go myself? :)
I just measured my torso, chest, back etc…and sketched it out so this is very specific to my dimensions. Not too hard to draw once you’ve measured yourself.

Must be so satisfying making that. Looks like you’ve more or less mastered a new craft. Pack looks pukka Scott. Well done you 🏆👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks mate. Yeah, loved it! 👍🏻

No mate. I may have done taped seams if I’d used DCF, but a pack liner is far better IMO.

@@TonyHobbs DCF will only remain watertight until it starts deteriorating, which a DCF pack will over time.

A lot easier than you expect IMO. Just take it slowly. 👍🏻

I had no idea this kind of thing was possible! Amazing work
Cheers 👍🏻
Also where did you learn all the stitches, any good channels or books?
Looking at other packs & UA-cam. 👍🏻

How did you design it mate? Cracking!
Just sketching ideas out. 👍🏻
Skills 👏👏👏. Where do you get the stretchy Venom mesh from mate?
I got everything from ripstopbytheroll mate. 👍🏻
Thats an awesome job fair play, where can i get one.
Thanks pal. Unfortunately not for sale.
Amazing job, how much does it weigh?
Thanks. 350g
Oh looks like you do have front pocket lol what is venom mesh ?
Venom mesh is really tough stretch mesh.
@@itsmescottp what prompted the DIY gear ?
Just thought it’d be nice to use kit I’ve made myself.
Also, I don’t have to compromise, I can have what I want.
Are you working from another design or template, or (as well as your specific measurements) is it designed from scratch?
All from scratch. Sketch out idea, work out measurements, create paper templates and transfer to fabric.
About how much did the materials cost?
Probably around $80
Never used a sewing machine before ffs that is epic! Just because you want to go even lighter lol
No mesh pocket on front for shelter?
There is a mesh pocket. Massive.
Hey, what size is the pack in liters?
This one is 36L internal, 5L front pocket, 2x2.5L side pockets, bottom pocket and 2 shoulder pockets.
So probably 48L total capacity.
350g
@@itsmescottp great, thanks!! It looks awesome.
