I started my van build with monkey see, monkey do, from your build videos. Tomorrow will be the first trip away in my 99% complete van. Thank you for sharing your build process, it was a huge help to this first-timer. Please god, no more Bunnings runs for a while!
You found an amazing guide with this channel. A very ambitious type of build for a first effort so if you followed their template well done! I think the electrical system here is the best I've seen and they were so generous with the detailed plans and step-by-step.
I used the sub-floor design, small parts of the framing and leaned heavily on the insulation technique and materials, then diverged completely because I wanted a lighter build and more of a wood cabin feel - so lots of varnished wood. But when I started it was basically a carbin copy of the floor and insulation. I also wanted a larger battery capacity so went with four 100Ah Renogy lithium batteries but the same DC to DC charger and basic fuse box design. It turned out to be a really well insulated and comfortable space, so full credit to the salty van!
11:36 The dent in the door may be an aesthetic rustic choice - but you can repair it by laying a damp towel over the dent and running a clothes iron over it. Good storage designs.
This is the most beautiful and intelligent van conversion I've ever seen! So many details are made with love and knowledge! Congratulations to you young and cute guys!
Smart & beautiful build! Love the toothbrush cabinet because it’s dedicated & keeps them separate plus it’s so cute! Love the cross breeze kitchen windows. Love all the storage cabinets. They are solid, clean looking, & large enough to maximize space.
Well... You just got a subscriber and probably a potential future customer! My dream's to live out of a van like this just with some slight tweaks. It's just beautiful guys honestly. The little I learnt about design through my last course at college really taught me how to appreciate the thought and work that you guys put into it! I'm currently at school doing an electrician's qualification after which I'd probably do a carpentry/wood working course and start dabbling in the dark arts of design again :) You guys are a true inspiration, thanks for creating all this, and may the Ford be with you ;)
As someone has watched probably a thousand hours of van/tiny home builds this is easily #1, simplicty, attention to detail, practicality! Demonstration of features not just talking about it!
Absolutely brilliant. So many useful and convenient features. Particularly the kitchen, fixed bed & ample storage. For me, an interior shower and private toilet space is a must, but those are personal preferences. I could see this layout working well for many vanlifers. Well done my friends, you have definitely aced it! Much love from NYC xx
Our pleasure! Yes an internal shower would be a must for us too if the van was not in Australia. The great thing about this country as it is very easy to find privacy for a shower. This may not be the case in say North America or Europe. We have discussed building a van in Europe and we would opt for an internal shower for this reason.
Thank you for the tour it's very nice. I had to work with one of those fans driving all over the country and I had to have space for my clothing and things since I cooked in the van through although it was for cargo so I could not make it look nice, but the storage on the top that you showed where you have boxes and stuff I found these long Rectangular plastic tubs in the automotive department of Home Depot. They were great. They fit perfect all four and I would slide them in and out very easy, and I could see even though I'm 5'2"what was in them and I had labeled them I had a sign each plastic tub one was for shoes. One was for my pants and T-shirts. Another one was for my coats and other clothing on the way is it socks so everything was a Maitland put away and I folded it and put it square of clothing, so that it fit wrinkle it was perfect, so maybe those boxes actually have a sliding return it's easier to manage whole space cubby on the top of the driver and passenger seat
Brilliant steady commentary without rabbling on about one specific thing. Great pace from both of you. Not once did I have to fast forward you. When you have to keep fast forwarding , you end up losing interest and moving onto someone else. Well done you two. Beautiful build and so neat. One of the best I’ve seen. Wishing you all the best. Love from Scotland xx
The best conversion with the best tech I've ever seen. From electrical to hardware, you guys really know what you're doing. And so cozy and inviting. Thanks for sharing.
This my friends is the best, the best, did I say best, incase I didn’t I’ll say it again, the best van build ever, true tradesman design and quality finish. THE BEST! Seriously the best guys!
I’ve been on your journey for quite some time and you deserve it. I’m a fitter n turner and I assure you, you covered every aspect of a build I would do. Well done champ. Regards, Mario
I haven't built my van yet, but after watching your video I've decided to go with pop-out windows because the rain factor never crossed my mind. Thanks!
This video came on randomly after I went down the rabbit hole of youtube vids lol BUUUTT....As I watched the intro, I was immediately invested lol Great vid🤙🏻 May all your journeys be blessed with nothing but love and joy🤙🏻
Cover up the bulkhead ceiling with some marine vinyl or marine plastic thin sheet. It will look nicer and be cleaner for your items. No bits of insulation falling on your stuff. Keep plastic plants from IKEA. Don't torture real plants with lack of sun and cramped pots. They are living things. Good job on using real tile. Looks and feels authentic. The trick with tile is this: use a light backing like Schluter Kerdiboard. When you add the thinset mortar, mix it with Polymer not water. Ditto for the grout - use a polymer not water. This rubberizes both thinset mortar cement and grout and prevents cracking from vibrations. It also waterproofs it, no sealant needed. Use small mosaics over larger tiles. Your subway tiles are a bit too big for van use, smaller is preferable both for weight and less cracking. MAPEI an Italian brand is very good. Love that pull out table from the back! Very handy. Roof deck is awesome Beautiful interior space! Enjoy your van!
I mean common they are indoor plants... Much like any indoor plant you would find in any home. They thrive in the van and are very happy plants We really don’t like the plastic plants as well.
I have been watching your videos for about a year. Went back and watched some older ones too. Your van turned out amazing. We just started our transit build in late April. It is our early retirement plan. Going full time to see North American. I look forward to your future adventure videos.
Australia? Oven? Have you not heard of the "B.B.Q."? No internal smells. More internal space. You could replace this with a washing machine perhaps? 😳 Mayb a A/C unit/dishwasher combo? Just a thought 🧐
Wow! Beautiful and smart van build! Love it from start to finish! Speaking of finish: This tiny projector is just as awesome! Thanks for sharing all this! 💕
Curly was an early home of surfing. Beautiful layout, very functional. Your have really learnt from your earlier builds and living the life. Great colours. Salty pools is a South American phrase for ocean swimming pools.
Great tour guys. I have the same van but 2010. I originally had a mid roof which I converted myself I love my van but at 5’8” I could not stand up so bit the bullet and bought the high roof model. My layout is similar I just have cupboards both sides. I have 2 dogs I travel with so I don’t have a garage as I have built in crates under the bed. Your videos have been fantastic and I will be referring to them as I progress with the build. Wishing you all the best with your adventures around Australia. Such a cute couple! 😁🐾🐾
I think the single most important feature of a van is the ability to stand up. It will save your back. We would love to travel with a dog or cat one day and make a little home for it under the garage where we have the door that opens under the sliding table. Thanks for the lovely comment!
Watching the video and seeing all the work done was eye popping. The fit and finish looks way way way better than any of the manufactured ones. This is one awesome 😎 build.
I Absolutley loved your van tour , my name is Timmy i live in UK , i think the was you described your van was in such Great and precise detail , the effort and also the design with so much flair . im a Huge van and subscriber now . Thankyou so much . Timmy .
You are so right about ventilation! I think unless you have lived in a van it is really easy to underestimate how important it is to an enjoyable experience. Do you think the trade-off for a more premium and beautiful van has been worth the additional weight overall? Do you use the roof deck often, or is it just nice to be able to climb up for photos sometimes? I see it on a few builds but I don't think I would use it enough.
I would say we use the deck it a medium amount. More so when we are in one place for a while and able to just relax a bit. Regarding the weight, there is probably some things i would be able to do differently to reduce the weight slightly but i wouldn't change the design and style as we absolutely love it and it feels like home to us.
Great job and explanation of electronics and our Aussie weather stuff. It would be easy to adjust to have room for a fold up electric bike in the back boot area. I still like Eamon and Bec's bed/seating design where it folds down, my dog would fit where the have a guest bed.😉
Guys literally you are amazing I actually got a lot of inspiration from your videos. I also have a transit and almost “finishing” the main parts for the European summer Great job
Lots of inspiration here for me, looking at getting an ISUZU npr box truck to convert into a full stealth camper & portable office ... nice to see a fellow Aussie doing an awesome job. Thanks for the tour. ❤
Thank you very much! If we were to use it as a shower deck i would have needed to add nonslip tape or grit to the sealer to stope us from slipping off.
You have a super van, I just love it. Being a single female traveling around Australia I would like a big aluminum roo bar and the table at the rear long enough to be able to use as a sun lounge. A TV and a pull out barbecue would top it off for me.
Sounds great! A bbq would be nice. I was considering carrying a Weber Q in the back so it was near the gas bottle but i haven't got around to it yet. Bull bar would also be nice but I was hesitant to add even more weight to an already heavy van
Wow. This is a wonderful off-grid system you've put together. Using solar for alternator is genius. ❤️ The big bed x 💯 and kitchen and attention to details. An amazing build. Only wish for me would be ability to shower inside on cold days. Such a lovely couple. You make me proud. Thank you for sharing this sweet van with the luxurious cedar. 👌

Yes unfortunately with building homes is such a confined space that you can't have everything and you need to make compromises. An indoor shower takes up so much space and we really like the open plan living.
Have been a subscriber for a while now and have watched your build series at least 3 times! Currently building out a 2008 transit and have taken lots of your ideas as inspiration. Fantastic job and look forward to more videos 👍👍
I would prefer an indoor shower and toilet because I would not want to take a shower outdoors in the winter (I am assuming the van is designed to travel all year round). I also prefer to have a cabin for the toilet. I like to have a bigger seating area so the bed should be a convertible - you could leave the bed out if you have no guests coming - but a sofa and table for 4-6 people would suit me better. I would also put the cooker on the side of the door. I like everything else about the van.
We did it for the heat as well as the privacy. You also open up a new wall that you an use to hang stuff. Also as we were never going to install swivel seats it made sense
This is one of the best most efficient builds I’ve seen

Yes unfortunately with building homes is such a confined space that you can't have everything and you need to make compromises. An indoor shower takes up so much space and we really like the open plan living.
Excellent van built, great job 👌🚐🏞️
Thank you! 👍
Beautiful van.. Congratulations.
Thanks so much ☺️
Have been a subscriber for a while now and have watched your build series at least 3 times!
Currently building out a 2008 transit and have taken lots of your ideas as inspiration.
Fantastic job and look forward to more videos 👍👍
That is awesome! thank you so much
I would prefer an indoor shower and toilet because I would not want to take a shower outdoors in the winter (I am assuming the van is designed to travel all year round).
Amazing build! Qq why most Australian vans separate the cockpit and the living area? Why not using a curtain that is heavily insulated?
We did it for the heat as well as the privacy. You also open up a new wall that you an use to hang stuff. Also as we were never going to install swivel seats it made sense
Superb tour and detail
Thank so much
