I just lost my young son. We were in the process of converting a van together when he died suddenly. This is the first van build I have been able to watch since losing him. I really needed to hear your philosophy in this painful time. Thank you.

It is a good van build and my respects to the young lady but there are many good van builds been done each unique in various ways but I feel you are short sighted on saying this is the best. But it is not a competition and I respect each and every one I see for the unique vision that each has for their desired outcome and visual appeal of interior style, space and functionality; and maybe more important than all those is access for possible repairs should a fault occur in the future. This young lady has not come up short on any of those point.
i have so much respect for people like her that just go out and do things. i'm a builder myself so i understand the time and effort it takes to make stuff from scratch. it was all her vision, her work, and it came out nice. she understands how it all works, costs, and how to maintain it. great work

yeah i think working at sea and getting a feel for cabins of boats probably inspired her use of space. I love how things are slightly partitioned to give each part of the van cab a unique space

I've always thought a lot of these van lifers would really benefit from taking experience from boat lifers and the way they manage storage compartments and their use of space amongst other things and it's super interesting how she did that with her build 👍👍

I am overwhelmed. This is the most stylish and comfortable van I have ever seen. Indeed the very BEST. With solar panels, magnetic glasses, the shower is great, just like in a house. The colors and style are top and also that it doesn't seem chaotic and improvised at all by shelves and the boxes on it. You are a true multi-talent. My respect, lady 🎩👏🏻.

Ok so just to add a little credibility to what follows... I’m a multi skilled tradesman, and as arrogant as it might sound, I’m pretty fucking good. The work interests me. I’m in absolute awe, the build is not just well executed but fucking flawlessly planned. It’s the work of a true craftsman, attention to detail, knowledge enough to have great decisions. Genuinely Now, this is the first ever big compliment I’ve ever paid on here... I’m blown away. You my lovely are awesome. Trying to imagine cheaper shower build, but...nope. she's got it figured! I could cut costs/improve safety (for use in US without the atached ladder, and 2 windows. The bigger one would need a slide away fake "Outhouse Repair" sign covering it (so nobody would want to rob it, lol). Lot of pretty hardware on this - mine would have to be 2nd hand or make "mismatched" a fashion statement. Gorgeous work. Wish I could afford to buy it!
Angelle Guyette sadly true, but in Europe it’s also very common for these vans to get broken into. We are installing a security system and extra locks in our van.

Just bought a 2000 Ford Ram 2500 extended van with 90K miles on a DMV verified rebuilt engine. The engine is an absolute monster and I can’t wait to customize this baby into my dream camper van. This video was very inspiring and I’m sure I won’t need beer the luxury but still I’m very excited to make this my own.

I nearly cried when I heard your accent. I miss this accent. I don't notice it at all when I speak but to hear it from someone else is heartbreaking for me because I live in Germany never hear English let alone that accent. Also, your van-build is brilliant not to say the least, but that's utterly understandable being South African. That's just how we are. ń Boer maak ń plan. We are excellent all rounders, that goes without saying. Thumbs up for you. I'll be the next one to do my van build but I'm much older than you. Let's see if I've also still got the b@lls to do this as a lone Saffie in Germany.
I'm (eventually building [fairly expensive]) framing a 30cm tall case across my entire van roof. Inside the case are vents for two maxair fans (or just smaller 6" homemade ones) and possibly, a DC powered air conditioner they make for vans/Busses/RV's now. Between the vents to the outside, are water/airtight cases for surfboard/Kayak, waterfoil storage. On top of the case is a 700 -800 plus watt solar array on a light tiltable deck. With plastic, sealed solar panels aluminium reinforced. Tiltable toward the sun's angle. But it cranks over by hand all the way to 185° forming an awning over the side doors. You can support it at 180° with poles forming another deck under (now on top) the panels. The panels can be cleaned from the ground. With another sealed array of plastic panels forming a deck over the van. But built into or adjacent to the lids of the surf gear storage between ducts. Increasing the wattage to a potential 1.5 - 2 kilowatts. Enough to recharge an electric vehicle parked at the beach for a few days, if you ever decide to install an electric, or hybrid engine.
LOVE the safety features. So many vans seem unsafe! Everything in this van is so well thought and clearly took a long time to pick and make. Inspiring!

This kind of drive is second to none! While there are those that waste their time needing to be in others personal business.....there are those that are driven from within to *actively live their personal lives (via their *own business) without remorse. Building a van during the winter.....outside..... can only be propelled by a certain type of vision and drive.

I am so in love with this van build! It literally has every thing you need. Can I ask how much the total build cost you? And how much did the van cost? I want to start a van build but getting it to this level of standard looks pricey. Congrats on such an amazing achievement
This is also my question. They rarely say. Not to mention the fact that you need somewhere to build one. I'm living in a unit with no parking at the moment and I don't know anyone who would let me use their property to keep it on while I fit it out. Not to mention networking for help if you need it. Lots of other considerations outside of the 'money' aspect.
I estimate £20,000 would get you this van assuming you started with a good quality second hand van. As you've said though. a guide to the build cost would be very useful for others.
I wouldn't have had the patience for such boring details,,,,but hats off to you for enduring such tedious details and not minding such boring details,,,but all in all,,,whatever makes you happy,,,keep on trucking !!!

Fawwad Shafi I should think it wouldn’t be to challenging for the next person to make the change if they feel it’s necessary, just need some ply a jigsaw a router and some new flooring, I am building a camper in a citron Berlingo right now but I am planing to build a big van when I finish my post graduate course so I think I will steal this underfloor Idea when the time comes 😀

This kind of drive is second to none! While there are those that waste their time needing to be in others personal business.....there are those that are driven from within to *actively live their personal lives (via their *own business) without remorse. Building a van during the winter.....outside..... can only be propelled by a certain type of vision and drive.
Hands down one of the , if not best van builds I've ever seen. She's a legend!

I am so in love with this van build! It literally has every thing you need. Can I ask how much the total build cost you? And how much did the van cost? I want to start a van build but getting it to this level of standard looks pricey. Congrats on such an amazing achievement
This is also my question. They rarely say. Not to mention the fact that you need somewhere to build one. I'm living in a unit with no parking at the moment and I don't know anyone who would let me use their property to keep it on while I fit it out. Not to mention networking for help if you need it. Lots of other considerations outside of the 'money' aspect.
@@Blah-Blah-Blah143, well with the cost of the van you could probably estimate the total cost around 80 to 100 thousand.
I estimate £20,000 would get you this van assuming you started with a good quality second hand van. As you've said though. a guide to the build cost would be very useful for others.

Fawwad Shafi I should think it wouldn’t be to challenging for the next person to make the change if they feel it’s necessary, just need some ply a jigsaw a router and some new flooring, I am building a camper in a citron Berlingo right now but I am planing to build a big van when I finish my post graduate course so I think I will steal this underfloor Idea when the time comes 😀
