I drive a bus for seniors…this wonderful man I knew heard this song, started crying singing this out loud…I drove around the block a few times and let him have his moment with this song. He’s passed away but this song forever taught me how music can touch your soul ❤

Two weeks ago today, my husband of 50 years, passed away. Oh how he loved me so very very much. He showed me and told me what I meant to him. This song says it all. The pain hurts so bad. I love him and miss him more than I could express.

I lost my husband five years ago. I couldn't listen to music for several years because we both loved music and it was a big part of our lives together. Every note was pain for me. Just recently began to enjoy music again. I still miss him terribly.

Dear Beverly, I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. "Nights In White Satin" , I think, is one of the most poignant love songs ever written and recorded. It's always been one of my favorites since the first time I heard it as a wee lad in '73. Only Gordon Lightfoot's "If You could read My Mind" can compare.

I dated a guy back in the day and this was our song. Whenever it came on we stopped whatever we were doing and danced to it. I remember on time we were driving down the road and it came on. We stopped the car, turned up the volume, got out of the car and danced to the song. Good time!!!

I don't remember anything from the 50s except small, little-kid stuff, like lifting up a board behind our house, and seeing a snake, dropping it and running to tell others who came, and not finding a snake, called me a liar. Tiny little snippets of memories. My real, clearer memories only begin in the 60s.
My music memories begin in the late 60s. But I can say that I remember seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan the first time they appeared.

It never ceases to amaze me how something as simple as the soft strumming of a guitar or the hypnotic flow of a soothing voice can awaken all your senses. I just close my eyes and suddenly I’m transported back to a different time and place where life was much simpler. In 1967, as crazy as this will sound, my parents were kids then (don't be shocked that I must tell you that I'm 17 years old, I have a brother who is also seventeen, but I'm older by 4 months, because his birthday is in April [this month] on the 11th [his birthday was six days ago]. As for me, my birthday is in December, yes, December 29th of 2002 was when I was born. The oldest of us was born on 1-16-95 [my half brother]. The youngest, my sister, born on 9-25-07.) (Oh, my brother's b'day, 4-11-03).

Ok im gonna leave my opinion on this song,
No i didnt have anyone play this song for me as a kid or a loved one that this was our song or it wasnt my fathers favorite song that he would play over and over.
I first heard this song in a movie, can’t remember which one since they have used it in many movies. So the first time i heard it i was mesmerized and it fit the moment in the movie so well that i cried because its such a beautiful song. One of the most beautiful love songs of all time in history actually. It is perfectly yet simply written. Nothing fancy just simple words put together so graciously that it gives you goosebumbs every time you listen to it. Its a great masterpiece to say the least. Lets all enjoy great music like this because it will never be replaced. September 28, 2022

This song is the backdrop for an interesting little tableau. I grew up listening to the Moody Blues, since my parents were hippies.
Anyway, I was about to graduate Basic Training, 16 weeks of pure hell. A couple of days before graduation, one of the range instructors had this song playing on the radio. I reminded me that not only was there still another world outside of Basic, but that I would be back in it very soon. It was my own sort of "light at the end of the tunnel."

I was 15 in 1967 when this was a huge AM radio hit. Along with their first number 1 single Go Now all my teenie bopper girlfriends swooned over this heart throb song when we had crushes for boys where we thought our broken love sick hearts would never heal. And now at 68 my heart still aches at the thought of losing my new found love of my life we just met in December. By a fluke we sang this karoke song together Nights of White Satin and both swore it always said Knights in the title. Timeless music that rings to your soul.

Odd story I have for you. Army, 71, Ft. Bliss Texas, somehow survived VN. The NCO club was the place on base to meet females on Friday and Saturday. Now, The message of the Moody's probably didn't resonate with the military brass. The last song, every night at 9:50 was Nights in White Satin. Never could figure that out. I'm glad to hear you say that this song was his favorite, but sorry that he passed.
I remember the day June 30th of 2017. It was the day that I got the news that one of my schoolmates, J.J. Harper had died in a cabin fire, with his dad. I was really devastated at the loss, and I did cry. Harper's mom and stepdad were the ones who grieved so much, and I felt sorry for the both of them, especially at his celebration of life, which was held in the auxiliary gym at our school, West Junior High, where I cried even more. This kid was very awesome, he always knew what to do for someone. J.J. had once told me that he had faith in me, and I believed him. Although I barely even talked to him, but seen him at school everyday, I kinda felt like J.J. was another friend to me. I also remember him playing "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy on his violin back in the 7th grade, and every time I heard the song come on my radio, I would smile a little saying, "this was J.J.'s favorite song".

2022 this song still sounds so good as it was when it came to the world. Every little bit in this song is simply perfect. The words of the lyric is so profound, so loving. It’s impossible to forget!

They got better with age. In my opinion this time in life they had matured and knew what love was about, more than when they had just created this love song.

I guess people would say I was a hippie. Elbow length curly sun bleached hair with sandals and bell bottoms. Grew up south of the city (SF) in the 70s. I like to say... The 60s really happened in the 70s. And if you remember it, you weren't really there!!! But anyway this song always brings tears to my eyes. I think of all the loves lost and wish I had just one of them today.

I'm crying tears for all those people who have loved and lost. I haven't read every comment here. But I've read enough to know that the woman next to me that I've dedicated 10 years of my life to; is well worth an additional 40. To all of you wonderful people who have loved and lost, or are still in love, but aren't able to see the one you love.... Rest assured their love still resonates with harmony in your heart.

What a beauty of a song. Loved it then! Love it now! Like a fine wine-it keeps getting better. Every time I listen to it, I get misty-eyed-wonder why! Brings back great memories.
