He’s incredibly successful in worldly and personal matters. He has had to shoulder an enormous unintended responsibility to pick up the shattered pieces of millions of people who’ve been psychologically and socially-abandoned by their parents, particularly fathers. They have been failed by schools as well. It’s shocking how unprepared for life in the world with many, many different people, so many adult college students are. This is on plain display by the childish me-centred talk they scream. He’s welcome to have a lengthy break to refresh himself.

    Good luck finding very many socially intelligent people out there... Social intelligence is important, but being cautious with the amount of reciprocal interactions you'll allow with others, however benign, is also important. It may have to be zero.

    • @rafemaxwell4143
      @rafemaxwell4143 4 роки тому +6

      @Miles Hamblen Not negative, just experienced. Often the other party is too self obsessed to even notice attempts at reciprocal interaction, or they don't care because they don't need anything from you. Worst case is, whether they realize it or not, they try and leverage the interaction against you somehow to gain an upper hand. Like I said, just be cautious.

    • @swordarmstudios6052
      @swordarmstudios6052 4 роки тому +2

      My experience is exactly the opposite. I mean I'm an awkward dweeb of a human at times, but I find it fairly easy to enter into slightly reciprocal relationships. If your around people like you describe there are two possibilities -
      1 ) you are in a pathological situation that isn't normal.
      2 ) You yourself are actually the problem. Either your not recognizing other peoples signals, or something is wrong with the signals your sending that people don't understand.
      Both are horrible. But it's less horrible than the alternative - that all relationships are exploitative. I do not believe that is true, because if that was true the world would be an empty, dead hellscape.

    • @rafemaxwell4143
      @rafemaxwell4143 4 роки тому +4

      @@swordarmstudios6052 It's not difficult to enter reciprocal interactions, I never said it was, I said to be cautious of who you interact with and what you expect the result to be. If the extent of your reciprocal interactions are surface level rote behavior then you probably don't have any issues. As you age and gain meaningful responsibilities, you begin to engage in significant forms of reciprocal interactions that require scrutiny. I'm sure JP would agree with me on this.

      Everyone does this - Altruism at it's core is a selfish thing - but how could it be any other way? How could the designing force of evolution do anything other than create something in us that has utility for that thing.
      That doesn't mean Altruism is bad, or that peoples motivations are always suspect. It just means that relationships are better modeled as trading games between relative equals instead of unconditional love.
      This gets into some interesting philosophy, but it doesn't mean humans are all sociopaths.

Long story short he gave me only 20$ and ignored to have our usual talks and messages. Never once did I demand him to pay me and he didn't keep his part of the deal. No discussion so we could work together to get even. He owed me a favor and he broke his promise. Even before this, I had lost some trust in him for other similar reasons. He only wants and gives nothing in return. After that incident, after he ghosted me I ghosted him and today I still don't think he ever helped me be a better person. Fake friend for goofs and gaffs but not a real friendship like it used to be wayyyy back. It's been a while that I had a meaningful conversation with someone and that sucks. You loaned him money even after you had serious doubts about his trustworthiness. He's helping you identify a very serious issue you have about trusting people who don't deserve it, and maybe not being discriminating enough about who you do business with. Also you don't sound like you stick up for yourself very much. I think you're quite lucky that this happened, there are people who wiil screw you over WAY worse than this for FAR more money than this in life, whether it's about a house, a car, someone who wants to support herself with an MRS degree who doesn't really love you, going into business together, etc. there are countless ways you can be taken advantage of in life. He managed to bring this potentially very serious issue to your attention for a puny $140. I say man up, assume responsibility for your part in this - learn the lessons and work on yourself so you don't repeat them, and consider yourself lucky you got off so cheap.

But I've met people that don't have much to say at all outside of their usual complaining, which becomes exhausting after a while. And then; hey neighbor can I borrow your lawn mower? Hey neighbor can you give me a ride? Hey neighbor can you watch my kids for me? Hey neighbor can you go to the grocery store and buy some things for me? Hey neighbor, I'm going on vacation, can you feed my dog, water my lawn, and fetch my mail for me? Hey neighbor can I borrow $100 from you? Hey neighbor I know it's 3:00 a.m. in the morning and I'm falling down drunk, but my wife kicked me out and I need to crash on your couch. Hey neighbor sorry I puked all over your couch, broke your furniture, and tried to rape your wife but... Whaa? You have a problem with me! After I've been such a great neighbor! That's it! The war is on! I'm going to make your life a living hell! And after I've been such a great neighbor!
      Listen up you naive simpleton. "Good walls make good neighbors." And if you still believe Ben Franklin was right, all I have to say is; "you're that neighbor" I've just described. And those kind of neighbors can go take a dirt nap.

Not only does it include most of his lectures, but also interviews with various intellectuals, professors and artists, done by Perterson himself.

    Master: Who can say?
    Acolyte: Shouldn't he be locked in his room?
    Master: ..And prevented from his journey?
    Master: If he could pass through the trackless land, he will find peace. His answer. His cure.
    Master: As far was we are able, we must travel with him. Help him along his way.
    Acolyte: But how, when there are no roads and no signposts?
    Master: There are steps. His and ours. We take them together. This is our duty to all who are marked as he is.
    Acolyte: I should hope to never meet another like him.
    Master: Very often, a wanderer in the trackless land finds that which he sought, and more.

    Looks like something Jesus did:
    Luke 5:1
    And as the crowd pressed upon Him to hear the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.
    Luke 5:2
    And He saw two boats lying by the lake, and the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing the nets.
    Luke 5:3
    And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and from the boat taught the crowds.
    Luke 5:4
    And when He ceased speaking, He said to Simon, Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.
    Luke 5:5
    And Simon answered and said, Master, through the whole night we toiled and caught nothing; but based on Your word I will let down the nets.
    Luke 5:6
    And when they did this, they enclosed a great number of fish, and their nets began to tear apart.
    Luke 5:7
    And they signaled to their companions in the other boat to come and assist them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
    Luke 5:8
    And when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.
    Luke 5:9
    For amazement had taken possession of him and all who were with him, because of the catch of the fish which they took;
    Luke 5:10
    And likewise also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Do not be afraid. From now on you will be catching men alive.
    Luke 5:11
    And when they had brought the boats to the land, they left all and followed Him.
