I think this is pretty damn good. If you think of Frank's body of work on the whole, it shouldn't be that much of a surprise. It's a little poppy in places but has some similarities to his Pure Love stuff.

Based on the Interviews I've seen from Frank, he really wanted a band he could try different things with in terms of sound, as much for his own sanity as keeping things fresh. So I reckon we'll always get blossom stuff with every album, it'll just be mixed in with whatever Frank & the Snakes feels like making at the time. The title track for Modern Ruin was 110% Blossom, but with a lot more emotive shit. Even songs I hated at first listen I've come back to time and time again.
I don't *dislike* this, but I feel like this is caught in the middle ground between being far, far better than all the rest of the drivel currently on the radio, but nowhere near as good as their older material... It'll grow on me, I guess.
