    It’s so funny to me how Michael just has a complete knack for sales and is actually pretty socially savvy in sales situations, but loses all social intelligence in every other situation lol

      I think it's part of same personality. Because he is able to make unorthodox conversations, he is making a memorable impact on others and he is able to emotionally connect with them. He is easy going while expressing things that he is thinking. Not everyone can do that. So because of that he has an edge over others in sales.

      Ricky Gervais told them that they had to make Michael's character somewhat competent at his job so they don't get rid of him. I think it made the show better because of it.

      I feel that Michael's sales style thrives in a local "boys club" small town type of setting and that's why he's successful in Scranton but wasn't REALLY being considered for the branch merger or the corporate job as it was later revealed.

      @@Armor3d0nethat is one hundred percent trying to relate to and comfort someone. Also Jim physically fight Dwight to stop him from losing his job. It’s weird now people often want to hate on Jim like he’s mean to Dwight when Dwight had nearly blown people’s heads off and Jim has many times supported him. And Jim over and over gave him advice supported him they stayed at his farm and gave him a good review like so much they helped him.

      @@Armor3d0nebut that is definitely like the definition of comforting someone, saying you’ve felt the same to make them feel less alone and being there as they feel bad and trying to encourage them by saying you’ve been there and got through it. What is your idea of comforting if none of that sounds comforting to you?

      I don't know much about acting, but in my mind, if an actor is really into their role, they end up knowing their respective character better than the writers themselves. Once they do, they can interact with others in the most natural way and the other actors involved will not be too surprised and should be able to respond naturally and in-character too.
      The fact the actors of this series all seem to be so into their roles definitely proves both of your points 🙂

    I love Dwight’s fitness orb popping!!😂😂
    For those who don’t know the story behind that. According to the the office ladies podcast. Dwight’s ball was supposed to slowly deflate as it realistically would, and in most takes of the scene it did. But in the used take, because of the very specific way John Krasinski hit the ball with the scissors, it instantly burst and Rainn Wilson hit the floor unexpectedly, and pretty hard too.

    • @simonro9168
      @simonro9168 5 місяців тому +243

      Apparently, there's a seam on those things, and it only pops when you hit the seam (its weak point). They literally said "The chance you'd hit the seam would be like a million to one." And John did.

      @riverraisin1 2 місяці тому +16

      I don't think it has anything to do with permission. They just aren't going to promote a product without getting paid. The confusing part to me was that they could have shot that scene not in front of a vending machine.

    • @cruisinguy6024
      @cruisinguy6024 2 місяці тому +13

      It’s not about permission because it’s simply not needed. Tv shows and movies will use fake brand names or hide the brand unless the company pays for the advertising. Any time you see a recognizable brand on the screen you can safely assume it’s a sponsored placement. Common examples are brand name laptop computers, phones, breakfast cereals, motor vehicles, restaurants, and so on.

    a somewhat subtle michael characterization is how he’s kind of obsessed with health and fitness. the least subtle one is when he told his staff they could roast how fit he is. he bought some workout equipment that oscar asked if it was necessary, and he used it while talking to jim and andy in dinner party and also later in threat level midnight. he seems to have a gym in his garage. he has an ab cruncher/pull up bar that he used in the eggs in my crocs ep. he eats salad for lunch in the deposition episode. and finally, he’s really good at ice hockey.
    whether this plays into his image obsessed nature, or that he’s athletic and sports is his calling, is very interesting to me. i’d really like to think that his job while living with holly is to coach ice hockey cus he’s good at it and he’s also naturally good with children
