And yet they don't hit on any technical aspects of use that I want to know about. Maybe I need to start doing camera reviews.... I don't mean to bash them or anything, but take the AF for instance. They chose scenes to test on with good light and quite large depth of field. Everyone had been touting this AF, but if we really want to know how good it is, then we need to push it to its limits so we can find out where those are. Another sample that I could easily replicate with manual focus isn't terribly informative to me. I still don't know how capable the a6000 is.
+Igor Kurtz The kit lens (SELP1650) isn't bad at all. In good light the image quality is fine and the autofocus is still really fast. The longer (SEL55210) is disappointing though i wouldn't bother with it at all.
Having gone back and watched this video now in mid-2016, I'm wondering if you had any premonitions that the A6000 was going to be such a successful selling camera? Somehow it seemed to hit a sweet spot on size, speed and quality that made it very popular.
In a sea of videos with the intention to promote and market brands your channel coming out best. You are always (almost) impartial and makes amazing videos at a speed which no other channel can follow up. definitely one of my favorite channels on youtube. Keep it up the awesome job guys :) Regards from Oslo/Norway.
I purchased the a6000 almost purely based on this post... unbiased, professional and worthy... being the amateur that I'am, this sony makes me feel like a pro... but, I'm just a hobbyist... thanks
I find my self watching ur videos just because ur so entertaining and animated when u speak keep up the amazing work your really good at what u do. Iv decided on the a6000 after watching ur videos on it
"Very" count for this video: 20 (this includes a "very very" count of 7) That being said (haha), I liked your review. I'll have to pass this on to my NEX-owning friends.
I'll be sticking with my NEX-6 and Zeiss 16-70, but it's good to know Sony is making some solid improvements. Great video. Covered any questions that I would have asked.
And once again, nice clean to the point analysis and review.. And that is why like it, one if not the best down to earth camera gear (and video) reviews in youtube. Thanks!
I bought an immaculate second hand NEX 7 here in Japan and it's the best camera I have ever used for a very very good price. It also feels higher quality in the hand compared with this new model and its plastic switches. I totally, totally recommend a good used NEX 7 for half the cost of this.
Nothing around it's price point. Canon m50 and the fujifilm xt100 are the other two that are similar to the a6000. They're newer cameras with a few enhanced features but not exactly worth the $200-$350 prices more compared to the a6000..
I have been printing large canvas wraps (77x36) from my 70D and 6D. I am selling all my canon stuff and moving to sony. For video I have TWO a7s bodies but I need a still camera. For stills I will mostly be shooting landscape so I'll be at f22 ISO100 and long exposures. How would the a6000 perform as compared to the 70D and 6D? Thanks
It would be great if you guys could maybe use the Kit lens's more often for people who maybe can't afford a thousand dollar lens :)... overall really love the a6000
I agree with you on many of your points except one in particular. I like that it has a mode dial. Its an absolute must on any camera in my opinion. Why would someone want to go through a menu system to change mode if they didn't have to. Therefore I'm glad they made one of the two control rings a mode dial.
would love to see a video on the canon m3 .... and compare it to the sony a6000. it would be really funny to do a sequel to the talking camera dinner party, but now with the canon m3, a6000 and other newer mirrorless cameras.
Good brief review that hits all the major points. As an NEX-7 user looking for a 2nd body I was concerned about the lower resolution of the electronic viewfinder, so I'm glad you addressed that. I totally agree with your assessment of handling on the NEX-7. Sadly the best handling and ergonomics I've found is not on any Sony NEX's but on the Olympus OM-D E-M1. Worlds apart. But the image quality difference comes down to the Sony's larger sensor. Chris, you may want to do that comparison: OM-D E-M1 versus the Sony a6000. Thanks for the great review.
Hey, thanks for your review. Perfect execution of how such reviews should be done... Back to camera. Even it is really "old" now I'm gonna buy the a6000 since there is no direct successor of that model yet and also because the price is good comparing to its value now. Thank you.
Hi! Thank you for this very informative video! I could really use your help I'm still debating what camera to get. I'm all confused with what is best for me. DSLR or mirrorless, which brand and so on. I've looked at the Canon 700D, the Pentax K50, the Samsung NX30 and now the Sony a6000. I'm getting quite overwhelmed and can't seem to figure out what is the best choice for me. What do you think? I need it for this mostly: - great at still life or product photography (studio photography) These have to have professional quality. - able to print pictures at large scale (up to A0) - great color - good video (studio recording) - expanding possibilities, lenses, flashes - under $ 1000,- Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!
This Field test is performed in Winter conditions, ice and probably temperatures below zero, minus Celsius. Does that mean that a6000 is made for Winter conditions and can be used outdoor in the Winter in Norway?
Sitting here in Gothenburg Sweden watching and though damn that looks like Canmore... Haha it was the first city I moved to from Ontario!! Love that place!! Thanks for the review buddy
Great review! Would you recommend this A6000 or the nikon D5300? I shoots general photo, family, events, traveling. Do you think the D5300 is too bulky for traveling?
Hi Chris. I am impressed by the specs and image quality of the Sony A6000 and am planning to buy one. I have found a couple of options for the kit lens. One with 16-50mm and another which also includes a 50-210mm telephoto lens. I am interested in taking pictures of friends, family, landscapes and also low light photography. Should I go for a prime 50mm f1.8 instead of the telephoto. Please suggest. Also please tell me if there is a difference among Sony A6000, A6000L and A6000Y
How does it compare w EM-1, XT-1 in terms AF speed and tracking accuracy, and shutter sound(many users care about this a lot, but most reviewers don't bother to mention)? Thx for the review. Well done.
replacements for "that being said": - "Having said that..." - "However..." - "Despite that..." - "Even with those (limitations, benefits, etc)..." - "With that in mind..." - "But..." - "Although" - Just move onto the next point :)
These videos you bring are great, you pull no punches and that's why I like it, it's a real review thank you for all your hard work you guys do, also yes his hands are little girly hands but that's ok cause mine are too it's easier for us to work these small cameras Chris and Jordan you guys are awesome, so if you had to choose between a6000, x-t1, which would you choose or should I just wait for the gh4 I do love 4k
I dunno man, after 20,000 shots out of my NEX 6 the a6000 address and improves things so much, really would consider upgrading from the 6 in my situation. Great video, very helpful, and I like the improvements to the video quality on the a6000 as well.
First off I'd like to say I'm a huge fan and love you UA-cam channel. I have learned a great deal and I've put it to good use. I just had a few questions and I was wondering if you could help answer them, Best of your capability and knowledge. 1. I am looking to purchase my first Mirrorless camera, I've narrowed it down to two options. The Samsung NX500 and the Sony a5100. I know they are both great cameras, I'm looking for something small and compact when the weight and size of my DSLR is too big, I want the camera that will shoot the best images video is secondary. I have chosen these models because of the LCD screens, and small profile. I like the controls and the gizmos on the NX500, but I also like the variety of extras and lenses that sony offers. Giving your honest opinion what would be the best all round camera? Specially in low light conditions and good dynamic range. If you can please give me your two cents I would really appreciate it. 2. Do you ever plan on reviewing the new Pentax K 70? I think Pentax is coming back and they got some really good equipment. thank you very much
Can you tell me what camera you used to to film this particular video? You have some of the best videos on UA-cam...not just content but the footage itself. It's comes out super clear and I'm in need of exactly that. Thanks!
Oh boy it is going to be a hard decision whether to upgrade my Nex7 to this ... I'm still on the fence if it is truely worth it. Im pretty happy with Nex7.
Thanks for the great reviews. For my price point I am down to 2 cameras (body, wide prime, fast 50mm, 70 - 200ish and possibly a kit small zoom at around US$ 1100). Now, a6000 or Pentax Ks2?
I'm in the same boat Nikon 5200/5300 or this little Sony bad boy , I think it might be a good idea to buy the a6000 and use it for a week so You can still return it if you change my mind, that's what I'm going to do ..buy each camera and use it if for a week and return them I will buy whichever camera I like more on Black Friday or Boxing Day ! That's how you make sure you get the right one (:
that's the same question I am literally asking myself and I have set my mind to buy Nikon D5500, no doubt Sony A6000 has best auto focus but Nikon is Nikon with variety of lenses and good camera processor in compare to sony A6000
+Usman & Salman's Food Joint Only reasons for DSLR are optical viewfinder and bigger lenses portfolio. BUT Sony has good lenses these days, they are not cheap, but they are good. So only reason can be probably optical view finder, which I personally don´t like at all. A6000 will have got better video, it is small, fast.. I think it´s better.
+Usman & Salman's Food Joint i had this question too,but choose A6000,why? of course for same IQ and little size you cant take a dslr everywhere, and if you want to,you have to carry a 10kg bag and giants lens with it so for daily use you will left it in home, trust me i had one,if you want buy a FF camera it doesnt matter the size and weight cause for pros it doesnt matter, but in apsc size, never gonna buy a dslr, neverrr, and trust me photography is all about good glass, and with sigma and zeiss prime lenses, you will get so much better IQ than D5500
Very nice video. I have one question if you have time. I am interested in getting a mirrorless camera and was curious how the a6000 compared to something like the Canon 6d in image quality and overall function for both still shots and general shooting?
Great review as usual, but I would have loved it going a smidge more in depth... Anyway, like you I deplore the loss of the TriNavi, but do have both the A6000 and 16-70 on order. Thanks for the review, I feel reassured about the AF speed !
do you shoot in P mode a lot when doing these videos cause... I'm just always confused over your exif data for all your photos. no shade, just curious. Love the videos BTW i always look for your review when checking out gear
Great review guys! I need to buy a lens for my A6000 with a focal length in a range of 16-50mm (like the kit lens) but with better quality and the support of a larger aperture. I need to shoot photos in low light Spanish tablao, where flamenco dancers are just 4 meters (~13 feets) away from me. What would you recommend I buy?
Question! If you were looking between a used NEX-6 and a new A6000 (in a couple months time) and the used was in great condition. As well would save 200 dollars or so. What would you suggest? I'm only asking because you said if you had a NEX-6 now you probably wouldn't "upgrade" to a A6000. Oh-yeah I'm a consumer user and not pro. Thanks for your videos! Very informative.
Do you think the fact that there is no on-body zoom is a negative? I do photography as a hobby. I don't think the lack of an on-body zoom would bother me too much, but I dont always have both hands free.
quest....many say the a6000 focusing is just as fast...so why would anyone get the more expensive bigger body a77ii along with its more costly lenses? a6000 or a77ii? btw. also, emount lenses won't work on this a77ii body right?
This guy is so natural in front of the camera.
What?He's annoying.
The best team on the internet for camera reviews ......
And yet they don't hit on any technical aspects of use that I want to know about. Maybe I need to start doing camera reviews.... I don't mean to bash them or anything, but take the AF for instance. Another sample that I could easily replicate with manual focus isn't terribly informative to me. I still don't know how capable the a6000 is.
I hate that everyone is testing this camera with the high end zeiss lenses. I would like to see a test with the lower range e mounts as well.
+Igor Kurtz The kit lens (SELP1650) isn't bad at all. In good light the image quality is fine and the autofocus is still really fast. The longer (SEL55210) is disappointing though i wouldn't bother with it at all.
skaven2100 which wide view lense should I get?
Really wish you had also used a kit lens in addition to the $900 Zeiss.
Noob
He sounds like a salesman... oh wait.
I love the professionalism of your videos. They are very, very well done.
You guys are making so much videos lately. Im very happy about it :) Keep it up!
Full credit to this guy, hes probably the best on youtube for providing us with a good in depth reviews of cameras. Many thanks.
Having gone back and watched this video now in mid-2016, I'm wondering if you had any premonitions that the A6000 was going to be such a successful selling camera? Somehow it seemed to hit a sweet spot on size, speed and quality that made it very popular.
Dont forget the price. I am actually purchasing the a6000 here in 2016 despite a6500 released to focus on glass than body.
TheAmal316 The A6000 is amazing, but it's pocket-thinner, if you know what I mean.
All these shots of him talking are so professional and not at all intrusive feeling. Nice work! :)
These are some of the best camera reviews I've seen. Good length, good information and well presented.
The best Sony A6000 review on the UA-cam, for me
Keep up the great job Camera Store TV
The way you swing that cam around in the beginning, I thought you'd smash it straight into the ice sign. Nice review, quite informative.
You guys are the best photography channel on youtube. definitely deserve way more subs!
Just ordered mine, can't wait to get it!
Finally... u have no idea how glad i m now...waited too long .... Thank u
Love your reviews, and Chris, your shots continue to inspire we everytime I'm out shooting! Great work!!
When Chris puts on the shades at the start.. **dies** LOL

Can't believe that this camera is still so good even several years after it was released.
1:00 I do that all the time when i take an epic picture followed by

I just picked one up for 315 and a 50 1.8 for 130 cant wait to start using this little beast.
Great job, man! I've waited a long time for your updates!
"Very" count for this video: 20 (this includes a "very very" count of 7)
That being said (haha), I liked your review. I'll have to pass this on to my NEX-owning friends.
That is ridiculously quick AF!!!
Chef Studio Japan, over your shoulder shot in between two buildings.
A favorite sushi spot in Canmore !
Good review Chris !!!
thanks for mentioning the bag!
Wow, this guy does such a great job.
hahaah that kid falling at the end
By far the most popular mirrorless ever.
An affordable upgrade of the great but expensive Sony NEX-7.
Great video! I am actually thinking of getting the a6000 for my videos. Super impressed by what i’ve seen from everyone so far
I'll be sticking with my NEX-6 and Zeiss 16-70, but it's good to know Sony is making some solid improvements.

handsome guy. and awesome video! just bought a Sony a6000 today :)
Is it still worth to buy a6000 or there's some great mirrorless camera around that price?

This bag is nice. Especially grey one. Its all natural leather? Sadly we cant see inside of it on photos or on video.
wow FS700 is quite a videocamera
That kid on the end though
I have been printing large canvas wraps (77x36) from my 70D and 6D. I am selling all my canon stuff and moving to sony. For video I have TWO a7s bodies but I need a still camera.

How would the a6000 perform as compared to the 70D and 6D?
Thanks
Wonderful test, it's a top of mirrorless camera.
Awesome Lady-like hands!
Fantastic review of an awesome camera. I'll be picking one of these up for my videos sometime next week.
It would be great if you guys could maybe use the Kit lens's more often for people who maybe can't afford a thousand dollar lens :)... overall really love the a6000
I agree with you on many of your points except one in particular. I like that it has a mode dial. Its an absolute must on any camera in my opinion. You couldve really tested the autofocus and 11 fps with the girl eating it at the 7:47 mark.....
Hahaha! I was going to comment on this too. But your comment is way better than what I would've said.
Good brief review that hits all the major points. As an NEX-7 user looking for a 2nd body I was concerned about the lower resolution of the electronic viewfinder, so I'm glad you addressed that. When do you guys at TCSTV start daily content? It's so good :)
Hey, thanks for your review. Perfect execution of how such reviews should be done... Back to camera. Even it is really "old" now I'm gonna buy the a6000 since there is no direct successor of that model yet and also because the price is good comparing to its value now. Thank you.
probably the best cam in its class.
Hi! Thank you for this very informative video! I could really use your help
I'm still debating what camera to get. I'm all confused with what is best for me. DSLR or mirrorless, which brand and so on. - expanding possibilities, lenses, flashes
- under $ 1000,-
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!

Thought ^^
Hi Chris , nice review. I was thinking of selling the sony nex 6 and buying the sony a6000 , but after your review , I have serious doubts .
Chris, on the continuing AF test, again everything is in focus throughout the frame. Not much of a test. Can you test it with a prime wide open?
Exactly, preferably a fairly long prime and/or a fairly close subject moving at a decent clip (light jog maybe, minimally).
Great review!
Would you recommend this A6000 or the nikon D5300? I shoots general photo, family, events, traveling. Do you think the D5300 is too bulky for traveling?
thanks for all your great reviews. keep going
Who still loves sony in 2019
This camera looks amazing!! Would you recommend for makeup photography??
Hi Chris. I am impressed by the specs and image quality of the Sony A6000 and am planning to buy one. I have found a couple of options for the kit lens. im not even into photo as a hobby yet but this review might actually have me buy one.
These videos you bring are great, you pull no punches and that's why I like it, it's a real review thank you for all your hard work you guys do, also yes his hands are little girly hands but that's ok cause mine are too it's easier for us to work these small cameras Chris and Jordan you guys are awesome, so if you had to choose between a6000, x-t1, which would you choose or should I just wait for the gh4 I do love 4k

watching this in 2021, Chris praising ergonomics, evf and sony menu just looks hilarous now ;D
Great review as always, thanks! Detailed and impartial. I'd buy one from you if I didn't live on the other side of the world....
Thank you for the review , thinking about purchasing one...
I saw your Canon M3 review and liked the way you see these things. Wich one do you think is better to begin? I mean, not for video, just for photos.
First off I'd like to say I'm a huge fan and love you UA-cam channel. I have learned a great deal and I've put it to good use. I just had a few questions and I was wondering if you could help answer them, Best of your capability and knowledge.

Great review! I just ordered my A6000 and can't wait to get my hands on it. BTW, that jacket is killer. Where did you get it?
Can you tell me what camera you used to to film this particular video? You have some of the best videos on UA-cam...not just content but the footage itself. It's comes out super clear and I'm in need of exactly that. Thanks!
+BAZYRKYRS BUNKER This was shot on the Sony FS700.
Thanks
Can you take pictures while recording a video?
Great vid as always (but no more Jordan vid part ?) and what about the lens (zeiss 16-70) ? Did you think it worth its high price compare to the kit ?
Oh boy it is going to be a hard decision whether to upgrade my Nex7 to this ... I'm still on the fence if it is truely worth it. Im pretty happy with Nex7.
Sound quality is very good, what are your using. I see collar mic, but more details please.
Hi, I found your review one of the best and informative. I have a quick question: apart from the kit lens which lens do you recommend for sony A6000?
I really wanted the NEX6 or D5300, think Ill wait for the A6000! :)
Keep it up guys.
hey, what would you recommend for a street photography camera in that price range? great videos.
nice review, btw, what is that camera bag you are using? looks neat. cheers
Excellent presentation!!!!
Thanks for the great reviews. For my price point I am down to 2 cameras (body, wide prime, fast 50mm, 70 - 200ish and possibly a kit small zoom at around US$ 1100). Now, a6000 or Pentax Ks2?
Great video, I'm looking to buy my first DSLR cam and am split between the A6000 and Nikon D5500. Any suggestions?
A 6000
I'm in the same boat Nikon 5200/5300 or this little Sony bad boy , I think it might be a good idea to buy the a6000 and use it for a week so You can still return it if you change my mind, that's what I'm going to do ..buy each camera and use it if for a week and return them I will buy whichever camera I like more on Black Friday or Boxing Day !
Notice, the A6000 Auto focus drop alot in nighttime/lowlight area. You need to do manual focus on this.
Great review. But i do agree on one thing: I'll be keeping my NEX-6 for now :)
Aaron Yang Sigma 19mm f2.8 would be your best choice
So, you wouldn't upgrade from a NEX 6. But what about choosing between the two for first time buyers?
I liked the review and the coat, i have canon 650 or t4i, and I'm looking for combat camera to replace the canon, so what do you recommend?
How accurate is the auto focus? Can it auto focus in low light? Does it back focus on bright backgrounds?
I don't think it's possible for these cameras to back focus.
It is possible. I've owned four NEX cameras and 3 of them backfocused frequently. I want to know if this new model would do the same.
***** Okay, but maybe we're talking about different things.
I'm asking the author of the video if he exhibited backfocusing. Or even slow or inaccurate focusing in low light.
***** No one in these posts deserves being called an idiot, not even you.
quest....many say the a6000 focusing is just as fast...so why would anyone get the more expensive bigger body a77ii along with its more costly lenses? a6000 or a77ii? btw. also, emount lenses won't work on this a77ii body right?
Would be nice to see how the autofocus worked during movie mode
