    Colin: hey, can I use your pressure washer?
    Neighbor: yeah, sure.
    3 hours later...
    Neighbor: hey, I've noticed you haven't been using my pressure washer.
    Colin: oh yeah, I've been taking it apart and making metal pillows with it.

    I've read that it works much better if you fold the edges over first at the seams instead of welding the pieces when they are completely flat. This creates a flatter surface at the weld seam and a nicer overall part.

      I think making something like a die with 2 blocks of steel. One will have a negative of what you what to form, and the other side with an open space to have the water pressure to build. Get a sheet of steel, put it in between the 2 blocks of steel and then clamp it all down.

    • @Speyde
      @Speyde 10 років тому

      colinfurze I thought that most people have electrode welder and that is a challange
      I prefer mig, I found it very easy...

    • @butre.
      @butre. 10 років тому

      it's not easy to do airtight welds with anything that isn't a tig, but a good tip I figured out is that you can put down your nasty booger welds with your mig, flux core, or stick welder, and then run some JB Weld over the joint to make it nice and airtight. It's a great alternative to spending $1200 on a tig welder or an hour making a little piece of intake tubing airtight

    • @TheWireEDM
      @TheWireEDM 10 років тому +2

      春日歩 Or just learn to weld properly. MIG/MAG is by far the hardest thing to learn to do properly, so people futz around with stick and gas as they provide much easier way of doing a good weld, though it still needs practice.

    • @butre.
      @butre. 10 років тому +1

      I use the stick mode almost exclusively on my machine because it's not sensitive to paint, surface rust, or galvanization you often find on reclaimed metals, or the mill scale you find on new metal

Either way those shapes could be very useful for gasoline or as you people say petrol tanks in strange or custom applications. At least that was my first thought and I am actually going to make one cause I have a really good use for such a odd shaped tank. Keep up the good work.

    I dont mean to be that party pooper and rain on your parade which is oh so amazing to watch. could you wear safety goggles when doign something like that tho? i was so worried xD. And they can/do save peoples eyes when stuff does explode.

      i had googles on when grinding etc but no need while forming as it only sprays water out

      While on the topic of safety glasses, make sure you are using current "non expired" glasses that are rated for whatever you are doing. If you're using 15 year old glasses, chanced are that the plastic is worn out beyond the point of being helpful. They'll just shatter if anything with moderate force contacts them.

    The 2-stroke exhaust you described is the expansion chamber commonly found on 2-stroke motorcycles e.g. KTM's and KX's

    Crazy idea here... Have you thought about digging a tunnel with an access hatch in this shed? I think that would be really cool if you tried that

      (late reply, meh) this guy doesn't do safety. 70mph on a scooter? no helmet. arc welding? t shirt, no gloves. testing a home made jet engine? indoors should be fine.

    At 2:36 I LOVE what he is doing.... How many times have we all done that?! Unable to look away while knowing something really bad or dangerous or scary can happen at any moment. When we know we are doing something potentially harmful or even fatal. I've made that face and body posture countless times ! HAHAHAHAAAA !!!

    Safety chat about the dangers of compressible air and relative safety of incompressible water took me by surprise. Until he said 'or so we hope' 😊
    Later followed by the shoulder cringe of safety.
    Also, make two cones and weld them back to back to make a straight through expansion chamber for your 2 stroke, max power!!!!

    Hey C, try the same with copper sheet! Except this time, take the vessel to a good pressure, a little bit at a time, and anneal between processes. I bet you would see some crazy results. Soft like butter to begin, hard to finnish, soft like butter ECT ECT! Go on, you know you want to.... I would.
