    Also Studio One sends each channel to it's own core. So if you have 12 plugins on one track you computer is gonna glitch because it doesn't matter how powerful your computer is. If you put 2 busses after that track in serial and spread the 12 plugins, 4 plugins over 3 channels, even though is is the same processing power needed your computer will handle it just fine because it spreads it over 3 cores 😁👍🏾

      Bruh you’re a genius. I’m pinning this comment 🙌 thank you

    • @chrishillery

      If you have three buses with 12 plugins, and those buses are feeding each other in a serial configuration, then you still have 12 plugins set up serially. Studio One can't operate those three buses independently on different CPU cores because it can't read the future - it can't do any processing in plugin #12 until it gets output from plugin #11, and so on back to the first plugin. So you're just as likely to max out your CPU usage as having all 12 plugins on one track.
      If you can re-organize your plugins so they can work in *parallel*, that can make a big difference. A lot of audio processing work is inherently serial, though. That's why the normal recommendation for audio work is to get the CPU with the highest single-core speed, even if it has fewer cores than another model.

    • @NoQualmsTheArtist
      @NoQualmsTheArtist Рік тому +3

      @@chrishillery doesn't work that way with Studio One. Each track and bus gets sent to one core, the load isn't spread across multiple cores. 12 plugins on 1 track, and 12 tracks with 1 plugin, even if they are the same plugin they use up a completely different amount of CPU. You can easily test this for yourself.

    One other thing to mention is that if you're using a lot of VST instruments with a bunch of effects, you can right click and "transform to audio track" and when you do it gives you the option of rendering the plugin effects as well, so that way you're left with just a rendered audio clip, and 0 CPU usage for the VST instrument or for the plugins. And, best of all, you can revert that back to a VST track if you need to change the notes or you want to modify the plugins.

    You're using Block Size and Dropout protection wrong. Dropout should always be high. Because when you select the Z symbol on instrument or audio it will go to the block size setting where you have a lower latency.

    Thanks again, watched again. I have noticed that I tend to have more problems if I am using a drum plugin with a lot of drums, or if I am looping over a section, while let's say rehearsing a guitar part or vocal part. So, it seems that looping bogs down the cp. For the most part, your video solved most of my problems, so thanks.

    Thanks for the tips! I have used some of your suggestions and I keep an eye on the cpu useage, as well as active plugins while recording, etc........to keep the cpu useage down, plus I also do a lot of transforming to rendered Audio, once I am fairly happy with the track, especially since it's non destructive, if you have it selected correctly. I still get some crackle and pop on occasion, but I can usually adjust some settings and work it out, if not, I just disable anything I don't really need while I am recording.

    Tips about Process Precision.
    32 bit sound more dry and boring but its more controllable. its good if there are many tracks and sound stacking up in the song .
    64bit will up the scale, sound feels more full but also more saturate and everything is all over the place and is hard to control
    those are pros and cons

      I don't know if this helps any, but give this a shot. My setup from PC>USB interface>Studio One 6 glitched and shut down a few times. It seems that if the interface isn't powered up fully when S1 reboots, then S1 defaults to the PC audio interface for some reason. Then no audio will pass because S1 "disconnected" the PreSonus Studio 68c USB interface. This is remedied by going into the S1 I/O and choosing the USB interface and setting input and output.

    I truly love Studio One. But multi core is not the best. I have a 16 core 32 threads I9 processor. And how to get it crackling? Route your tracks to one bus. And I use coconut matrix, that means I can have a lot of extra audio channels. Even when I master, I sometimes use pipeline to load a plugin on another track, so I can still have the automation in the same project. Why does this happen? Because instead of using all 32 threads Studio One starts throwing all the workload on one thread. There is a technical limiting reason for this, but I found Ableton much better in using multi core. And again love Studio One, but this should be unnecessary. Can understand technical limitations, but it can be much better. Same goes for big synthesizers, Ableton is better, makes better use of multi core. I would like to point at coconut matrix (for windows users) simple because of routing capabilities and internal of loading...

And now during the whole week when I try to learn S1 I can't tame my computer. In this video as I see the stronger Dropout protection you choose, the lower cpu load you get. But in my situation I see absolutely another. If I have the virtual instrument in my project and choose High Dropout protection the CPU load instantly jumps to 100% with overload indication. If I don't have any virtual instruments, just audio, chinging Dropout protection just useless, i.e. it doesn't change anything. Not lower and not higher CPU load between different modes. What's really upsets that this is the project with only 16 audio tracks and 8 buses. And it's already glitches (( In Logic Pro I can do MUCH more. So I'm confuced what could I do wrong.
