- Another day, another dollar.
You guys love the other day in a life video I made so I made another one for my other facility. I work 2 jobs, 2 different hospitals. Different specialities and a slight difference in job duties. Will talk about it in other videos.
Also, I'm working on a project to help guide students what to put on their mayo stand during clinicals! I hope you guys like it! Still in the process.

I'm going to be transitioning from stay at home mom to career (kids are heading to school) and your channel has really helped solidify my choice in (hopefully) becoming a CST and I'm hoping to get into L&D! @@Ashley-og9ti usually personal/schedule reasons, the ST programs can be a little more realistic to do if you are trying to balance other duties and responsibilities but it's still a good career

Hi!!! Just discovered your channel and so far I love it. I was accepted into a ST program last year but declined and now I know I want to reapply. Curious are you in CA? Do they have SFA programs or do you have to be a PA to be a FA?
Usually in CA and NJ from passed experience they have RNFA which isn't a bad transition if you do your CST -- RN -- then first assist
What about bathroom especially during long surgeries?

I get mine from uniform advantage! I love them. I also recently bought 2 pairs from figs for the first time cause I was bullied into it lol my whole team wears them my gosh they all look so good.

do you by chance have any videos on what its like dealing with dr's or more in depth on how days go? I've heard some people don't like the job because dr's tend to be extremely rude to staff
This is more like a mental exercise. Yes it does happen. I still get nervous but I don't take it personally. I used to cry about it cause I'd go home questioning why I'm here but knowing who I'm doing it for gave me a different perspective.

Do you know how to do a surgical hand washing and surgical wash...
Is it true that the surgeon should never have to ask for an instrument? That's what a surgical tech told me when I was inquiring about the day-to-day of the job. It seems unrealistic with the amount of surgeries, instruments and the routines of different surgeons, but maybe you get used to it after years of repetition? Would this be the expectation of a new grad?
Yes it's possible. Sometimes we know more about the surgery than them. We know the instruments more than them. I do vascular surgeries and it's quiet. No talking. ☺️ it's one of my favorites surgeries. If you know it, you know it.

Basic set up in school then completely different set up in clincials

@@SURGICALTECHGEEK I have worked as CNA for 8 years and I’m at this point I’m just over nursing .. it’s to damn stressful.. I work as cna having 32 patients total care showers, rude family members, rude nurse , and I got hit and pushed by a patient before (memory care) plus CNA pay is not good … then as lpn I don’t want to work on the cart and pass medication and I don’t want to deal with family members.. always short staff.. nurses have 52 patients in long term care it’s to much Im over nursing.. I want to get out I don’t even work as CNA anymore due to the physical abuse smh 🤦🏾♀️
@@ceeceebrownn cst do Get some abuse too lol but at least we get only 1 patient at a time. You don't deal with fam members just doctors and your peers. I think from the way you describe your job, cst is better. I hope it changes your life my friend. There's other ways.

Hey I’m starting surgical tech school in July any tips I’m nervous but more so anxious
Currently going to school for MLT but am thinking of continuing for surgical tech, although we work with blood and am not bothered by it, I'm not sure how I would do with major traumas, any advice?
You don't have to work in a trauma hospital but your hospital might have clinicals that caters to that. I don't like trauma. The unstable adrenaline rush get me sooooo tired. It's definitely not for the weak lol I just want like to be in regular OR.

Yes you have preference cards but it doesn't tell you exactly what to put on the mayo stand.

I would love to go to school for this but its 31k! & im still paying off my 10k loan for medical assistant as well as my 4k car note. :( they trick u into taking out a loan by telling you you will make it back when u work but when u first start out with no experience you aren’t making much...
I dont think its a trick but I do agree the loan is overwhelmingly expensive! But you know, I made the choice and I gotta make it. So you should think about the goal instead. YOU MUST MAKE IT. EVERYONE has loans. People die with loans. Its part of life.

When you go into this field do you pick your field where your at currently (like I said I really want Labor and Delivery or ER) sorry if this was annoying in anyway. so I have a question. I see online CST positions but do LPNs qualify for the position as well? I only ask because it says "CST/LPN positions", are available. I have my LPN but I am curious about a CST position but I also want to pursue my RN as well, I am currently working as a MT because the hospital I work for doesn't hire LPNs but they do hire CSTs. I haven't applied because I plan on going back to school with their tuition reimbursement program that they offer, but if I get a CST job as an LPN do I have to sign on as a CST for two years? Do I need to further my education more to pursue a CST position? I have my license but it's only going to take me a year to get my RN, and I can't afford to leave because nursing school cost too much to pay out of pocket.
Idk if that means CST OR LPN OR CST AND LPN. If it's "or" then you can do the LPN and do tuition reimbursement. Then apply CST once you get the cert. Let's start with that.

Hey! I know it's two totally different jobs but do you think a or assistant is a good job? I am currently in housekeeping at a hospital and I'm trying to better myself(employment) I don't know anyone that's a or assistant
Operating room assistant? Never heard of that position and plus they usually hire nurses who already are there to move up to mgmt positions. It's really hard to get in to the ORs. We have 2 surgical secretaries but the other was a pharmacy tech and the other been there for 30+ years and it's looking like she's not going nowhere.
Is it hard to understand/hear the surgeons with their masks on? Like if their voices become muffled?
Yes it can be especially with ortho hoods. It's the worst. That's why you have to pay attention to the anatomy to see where they're at and kinda figure out what they need.
How many hours in a day you work or do you pick your own hours

I think just basic stuff, comprehension, basic math, science, English.
Do you ever plan on traveling?
I did try but it's not for me. I did my logistics and financial plan and I'm breaking even. Here where I am, I have lots of side hustles and I love my flexibility and hours. I also like my hospital and environment.

Yes. This facility let's us but my other one doesn't. I have to wear paper scrubs on top.
