    I like pilates because it focuses on the mind-body connection, not on the results themselves. I used to workout to be fitter, but now I do it to feel better. And I'm not flexible, like, at all. And my posture is so bad... Like, I hope pilates helps me.

    this is your sign to do pilates!
    as a pilates girl, YES, it is ABSOLUTELY worth the hype. I do ballet, cycle e train home but pilates is what gave me consciousness of my body, my issues, my limits, how to do everything right. I am over one year and a half doing pilates and what it did to my body is unbelievable.
    I am pure muscles now and before I was thin as a stick with skin and bones. it is simply fantastic.

    • @yankads
      @yankads Рік тому +114

      @@AngelchocoPie yes, of course. First of all, I started pilates because I had a lot of back pain, specially on my upper back and on my left trapezius. Pilates cured this pain 100% while I was doing it (I was doing it twice a week), so for months the pain went away completely (unfortunately, months after I stopped doing pilates it came back because I have some bone/joint/muscle issues that i'm currently investigating because I had an injury doing gymnastics in the past, but anyways, I digress...). Second of all, pilates really teached me a lot about myself and how to use my body correctly, so now i'm waaaay more conscious about how to do movements properly and it changed my life at the gym (I love weight lifting but I found out that i was doing lots of exercises the wrong way because no one ever corrected me). It also gave lots of flexibility and mobility. Well, this is becoming a huge text and I don't want you to get bored but trust me, it's worth the try.
      If you wanna know anything else I'm here :)

    • @yankads
      @yankads Рік тому +47

      by the way, the back pain came back but not the same intensity it was before pilates, because the exercises I learnt at pilates really helped me correct some things I was doing wrong and helped me develop some muscle strenght that i didn't have before

    Pilates is tough i can tell you that, i was practising brazillian jiu jitsu for years and then picked up pilates to get more flexibility and core strength, and holy crap i underestimated pilates ALOT, i was the worst in my class and struggled so much. sadly because of injury i had to stop pilates , but it really strengthens your body and also helps to relief back pain, would recommend it to everyone.

I'm serious, pilates is fucking amazing!

    Pilates teaches you something important: the rules of use of your body, but it is not useful to lose weight or to have a flat stomach, that is why you lift weights. From my experience, in the world of Pilates many people hide with fear, there is fatphobia and they applaud extreme thinness. So Be careful if you get involved with that community, not all are like that but there is a trend

      @@sinayams I guess it always depends on body type and people don't take it into consideration. I have long limbs and my genetics are maybe more suitable for dance, pilates, endurance etc. Lifting weights will remain a tool for me but I'll experiment with doing it just once or twice a week ~

    • @annierminx
      @annierminx Рік тому +1

      @@nanaisloved2736 it definitely depends!!, I have a certain medical condition (don't know the translation in english but it's similar to scoliosis) and for the sake of not making it worse, I'm prohibited of lifting more than 3kg on a regular basis or 10kg if the occasion needs it, combine all that with being lanky, and it makes lifting in general a big no for me. So as a replacement, I'm interested with the current hype of pilates, and it seems like a perfect way to become less physically weak when you can't or don't want to lift!!✌🏻

    Now I don't know if I wanna get a gym or pilates membership, I already have access to my school gym though but with new years resolutions it's gonna be so packed in January lol. People who are super into pilates can y'all please tell me all the amazing reasons why I should go to a studio? And yes, I wanna see a 30-day video!

      well pilates kinda smooths out your body using all kinds of stretching to relax the muscle (it’s like ballet + yoga in a way0 whereas gym is leaning towards toning your muscle and building strength. It’s all about how you want your body to be, if you’re like me 1m55 high, I’d choose pilates tbh.

    I’ve always wanted to try Pilates even before the whole ‘pink Pilates princess’ trend…. It looks fun and I know it’ll be painful at first but I like a good challenge
