I just put mine onto my stand which has a magnetic usb c cable attached to it. Works pretty well and is roughly $10 to $22 depending on if you go with a magnetic cable that can transmit data. Price wise @$87 this dock doesn’t make financial sense and will not pay for itself in batteries like he said in the video unless you’re willing to use your quest for over 7 years.
Hell, this thing does look ok, but, considering that I like to have a VR Power battery bank attached to my DAS, this is an absolute no go for me. $87 just to be able to sit my Quest down and wirelessly charge? Not at all worth it. I got 1.5v constant recharge Batts for around $30 including the charger, and considering my VR Power bank is $60 retail, this dock just makes zero sense to buy.
Or you can get a pair of eneloop batteries and never look back again 😉. Seems like that would be an issue for anyone that uses controller grips because it seems to be a tight fit when docked, and also you would probably have to cut out the hole on the grips to accommodate the battery pins.
I've been using Eneloops batteries for years. They last a hell of a long time and hold their charge like no one else. nice for living, for a office solution there are much cheaper ways, with magnetic cables , i did mod my devices , works via alexa, those 1,5 v recarable are avalible about 4 dollars per piece.just some thoughts about this or occulus link.
This device will not pay for itself unless you use it for 6.8 or more years with average use. Let me explain. The controller batteries last a decent amount of time @about 1.5 months for me using the quest about 4 to 5 times per week with each session lasting about 2 hours. So about 60 hours over a 1.5 month period. @a price of $0.68 per AA (Duracell) battery or $1.36 per swap you’ll be spending $10.88 per year on batteries. If you kept the quest for 3 years the cost would be $32.64. Also if you want a magnetic charger for your quest those can be had for $8-$13 or so. So this anker device cost $87. To reach the cost of this anker product you’d have to be using your quest 2 for 6.8 years. [87-$13 (magnetic charger]= $74/$10.88 (amt. of money spent on batteries per year) = 6.8 years. No this product will not pay for itself in batteries unless you have the quest for more than 6.8 years which I doubt most people will. But by then you’ll probably need to replace the lithium batteries and so the time to break even increases. This isn’t a good by especially when you consider the fact that you can’t use grips. Even if the battery life was half of what I’m getting it’d still take about 3.5 years to break even and by then there’ll probably be a quest 3 or quest 4. If you’re dedicated to the quest 2 and can see yourself using this for 7+ years then buy it, but otherwise financially this doesn’t make sense and is inconvenient for the majority of players who use grips. If you have a frankenquest or an elite battery strap be prepared to prop up the back end of the strap or else the device will fall out of the dock
Is there a separate magnetic adapter to buy if I want to keep quest 2 charged with elite strap battery pack and not have to keep removing the metal button that facilitates magnetic dock charging?

The biggest issue I see with this right now is that they don't sell those batteries separately. So when they stop taking a charge what does the customer do? Maybe by that time they will be selling them separately, but they do not at the moment.
You do realize that other people sell rechargeable batteries right? And honestly if you used all the cycles on a rechargeable battery for those it’s probably five years in the future when this headset will be obsolete anyway
£70, still worth it for the amount of money you would spend on on batteries?
