Sick in bed binge watching your videos. I was supposed to make your clam chowder today but that'll have to wait until tomorrow. It has become one of our favorite fall recipes since I made it I think 7 years ago? You have inspired me so much over the years keeping a household despite having ADHD and giving my self forgiveness. Progress over perfection has helped me center myself many times. We live two completely different lifestyles but you have encouraged me and been an online mother figure for me during many dark times. Thank you for being such an encouraging creator!
Thank you so much!! I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well. Rest today and enjoy the break. ❤️
@@shesinherapron thank you! Will do. 😊
Shallots are a milder sweet onion, but can easily be substituted with any other onion in recipes. I will often use regular onions instead in cooked dishes due to the cost.
I like to use shallots in recipes that have raw onions, such as quinoa salads, Greek salads, corn or cucumber salsas. They are usually found near the garlic at the grocery store, but are generally more expensive than regular onions.
My friend once told me that shallots make your food taste like restaurant food! Also great minced up in homemade salad dressing.
I make inside out stuffed peppers. No one in my family eats the pepper, so I dice it up and add all ingredients to the meat. Works great.
Okay but that apron collection is amazing!!!!
👍 I add tomato soup with a can of water mix pour it over my peppers.
So do we!
In India 🇮🇳we fill the capsicum with a mixture of smashed spiced potatoes or with crumbled cottage cheese with spices n pan shallow fry or bake it
In America shallots are a mild, small onion usually with two halves together. Often people say they have a hint of garlic, but I don't taste it. Green onions are different, they are also called scallions.
I love that this works for 2
You look amazing. I’m not sure what you are doing but your skin and hair are glowing.
Wow! Thank you
Kimmie in Australia we have shallots which are a mild green onion. They have a tiny white onion bulb with long green shoots which you use. They are very close to spring onions if you have those. The spring onion has a much bigger bulb.
True. The shallots Kimmie used are typically referred to as “French shallots” here. Or at least, in my part of Sydney they are :)
Cooled bacon is easily chopped with kitchen shears.
Hello Kimmy! All of these meals look so good 👍🏻😊. We love stuffed peppers. I do mine a little different. I add salt & pepper, breadcrumbs, parsley, an egg, freshly grated Locatelli pecorino, sautéed onion, and cooked rice all to the uncooked beef. Mix everything together then stuff the peppers and top each one with tomato sauce, then add the remaining sauce to the bottom of the pan. They turn out very juicy and yummy every time ☺️. Hope you’re having a nice day!!!! 😉👍🏻🫑
Yum! Thank you so much for sharing!
Love the music!!❤
Love watching you vids kimmy you make me laugh 😂 especially when you said you’d like to punch Derek in the throat for saying “ it’s all in your head “ I turn your vids on my big telly and just listen to you while doing house work and cooking 🧑🍳 you have a very up beat voice and a lovely family
Absolutely love Corinna. You too of course. 😇😁💖💖💖
I cooked the quiche and my hubby loved them thankyou Kim love from Australia
I seriously enjoy your videos! Real life and such good recipes to help be ahead of schedule! Especially as a farm family who stays out late, these are wonderful ideas for make ahead!
I definitely write in my cookbooks. Even my recipe cards.
Thanks Kimmy! Will try that breakfast casserole for sure!
Love the recipes. I think I would use breakfast sausage (I have some that I canned) instead of the turkey in the breakfast casserole for added flavor. That salmon looks amazing!
Check were the recipe book your using is from, Im originally from Australia and now live in the US we call green onions shallots or spring onions .. when the bulb develops it is known as a scallion, you can buy with the greens still attached or dried with greens removed ..
Apron on !
Thank you for uploading this video!! 😍
I am adding all of these recipes to my list. I have everything to make them all minus the tortellini and the half and half. Sounds so yummy. I made the breakfast quiche this morning. It is currently in my oven. Can’t wait to try it
Was it good?😊
@@youmakemehappy7 it was
I would love that tortellini bake and the great thing about that recipe is it can be adjusted to size for any size family. I think i will try that out my next store run and make it for dinner. It looks so good!
Do you think she used an 8 oz or 16 oz bag of mozzarella cheese?
What a great variety of delicious looking meals!! I never thought about freezing stuffed peppers. What an awesome collab! Thank you for doing this with me ❣
We love stuffed peppers. I also add homemade onion soup mix to our meat. I also add a tiny bit of tomato soup to my meat to give it a little bit of moisture. We stuff our peppers and throw them in the crock pot. We then add the rest of the tomato soup to the crock pot over the peppers. We add some spaghetti sauce and I add saurkraut to the crock pot. We cook them on low. Comes out amazing any of the gunk left over in the crock pot we save to make soups.
That sounds so good!!!!
Ooh, I want to try that salmon and the breakfast casserole! YUM!!!😋
Love your sign!
Yum! Great recipes, tfs
I always write in my cookbooks with one two or three ticks and any additions, alterations or substitutions. But, like you Kimmy, I always make it according to the recipe the first time. I think of recipes to be ideas rather than being set in stone (although with cake baking etc you generally need to follow the recipe). Thanks for more ideas of what toput on the table for dinner each night.
I do the same thing. Follow the recipe first and then switch it up.
Awesome video, thanks for the great ideas. We love stuffed peppers at our house. I've had more time to cook and take care of our home this last month, my blood pressure has been low during my pregnancy so my doctor has me off work. No more work for me until December 2022!! I am taking it easy at home but it's nice to give our house some more attention 😊
I LOVE Stuffed Peppers 🫑. I almost always use green peppers and fill the with ham, mozzarella cheese and rice. Then I pour tomato juice over them, sprinkle with cheese and bake 🤤. My mouth is watering just thinking about them!
The little quiches look good! I want to try that. Well really I am happy to try all of these recipes 😝🙃
Always yummy recipes over here! Thanks Kimmy! You are still my favourite.
Ahh thanks Jeanette!
Can't wait to try the tortellini bake
I wish there was a love button!
Ahh thank you!
What fun recipes. I often write in my cookbooks as well especially if I change something or omit something. I also like to write in my recipes if they were good or just OK
I love those recipes
Great video Kimmy! Tfs these meal ideas 💕
Good morning! 💙💙💙 You are such an awesome homemaker!
Another awesome video. Thank you for sharing these recipes, I can't wait to try them. Have a wonderful day
Thank you!
Scallions are green onions.
Shallots are small onions, sweeter and more delicately flavored.
Vidalia or sweet onions are sweeter than regular yellow onions- no tears when chopping!!
Can’t wait to try tortellini bake and turkey breakfast casserole! Yum!
Love these recipes. Will try all but the salmon. A green onion is a scallion sometimes mislabeled as a shallot.
I have always wrote my notes in my cookbooks. 🤣 one day my daughter and DIL will be glad I did! I even draw a HUGE X through any recipe that is a total fail upon the first try as ( like you said) I always follow the recipe to the letter the first time…but after that it is fair game for my family’s preferences. However, if it is a total fail the first time, it never gets a second chance! 🤣🤣🤣
Kimmy I can not wait for next month when you do your thanksgiving so excited and showing us how to prep ahead of time for the holidays I can’t wait
The meals sound and look really yummy, some great meal ideas Kimmy, have you ever tried bread and butter pudding? you soak the bread, but into a dish add, butter in cubes to it, add sultanas and bake for 40.45 mins in a hot oven. it is amazing. can be eaten hot or cold. xxx
Yum yum yum yum yum…Sending hugs prayers and kindness. ❤️👍🏼🙏🏼
Kimmy, now I am hungry! 😋
I definitely tried the salmon recipe today. Years ago a Turkish friend of mine gave me the tip, to pour cold kefir over my hot stuffed bell peppers. Sounds weird but give it a try it is great! Love your channel 😊
I am Turkish but I hav not heard kefir on stuffed peppers in my life😃. We always put some yoghurt on it when we plate it. It is always delicious. I love stuffed peppers.
Omg that maple salmon looks so good, I've never tried salmon in slow cooker 👌🏻
The salmon recipe looks amazing!!! Loved all the recipes tho. Thanks for your hard work and sharing your gift!
Thanks Kimmy. Have a blessed day Kimmy and Fam💗
How are you feeling Deb?
@@shesinherapron Really good! Thank you for asking 😊
That red bell pepper looked so professional, like he's been hanging out with Martha Stewart😂😎😆
A shallot is very mild. It’s still very much from the onion family but the main difference is the mildness. Love your videos. Big fan here from Virginia 😊
Hi Kimmy, this was a very enjoyable video. I’m certainly thinking about a breakfast casserole for Christmas. And the stuffed green peppers…my husband loves them. I’d not thought to add the bread crumb topping. Oh…it was fun seeing you wearing the apron I sent you. It suits you.
Look good i love stuff pepper.i Like how you made your.
Thank you
You look amazing!
Shallots are like a combination between onion and garlic. Stronger flavor than an onion
you look awesome!!! good for you!!
I agree. That last one needs more items like bell peppers, broccoli and cauliflower.
I used to make a breakfast casserole and cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. I used sausage but I think turkey would be good too.
Yum
Very nice👍👏😊
I wonder if the last one would be good with turkey sausage? Mmmm, I would add onions and bell peppers. Who am I kidding, I’d add something spicy too😂
In french we say shallot for the French shallot and the green shallot, maybe it's the same in English? You are using a French shallot, the green shallot looks like a thin leek. French shallot looks like a red onion but it doesn't taste the same 😊
I'm going to try the bacon cream cheese tarts.🙂
Hello, love your channel!!! 💖
Thank you!
Chives is the mildest of the onion family, green onions can be very harsh depending on the size thinner ones are sweeter the bigger it gets the sharper the onion flavor, shallots are a very mild onion, but Vidalia onions are the sweetest of the regular onions, yellow and red onions have the sharpest flavor if them all. Chives are more of an herb then a true onion. That's what I know about the onions. All I know about onions I learned from the food network.
If the picture looked like a green onion and it was called a shallot, it is because in other countries like Australia, green onions are often called shallots, or spring onions. Similar to eggplant being called an aubergine and a zucchini being called a courgette, and a bell pepper being called a capsicum. I hope that helps. But shallots in America are a milder sweeter onion flavor.
You are looking gorgeous in the video Kimmie 👍
Thank you!☺️
Shallots have a garlic and onion flavor and can be subbed for either.
We have shallots- pronounced shar-LOTS here in Australia. They are like spring onions 😀
I typically make my breakfast casseroles with Italian sausage to add that extra seasoning that it needs to give it great flavor. With all the bread, it really needs a lot of seasoning!
It may be the fennel in the Italian sausage that you enjoy so much. I'm a big fan myself.
Yum! It's early morning and you've got me wanting a casserole for breakfast.
Would you do a review of your new cookware, please?
Thanks, for the great freezer meal ideas.
I sure can and for now.. we love them
Kimmy, those peppers look so good, I’ve never made them with a breadcrumb topping before, I definitely need to try those. How long and at what temp did you bake them? Thank you!
I’ve never made them without a tomato base so this was interesting. Will have to try.
I was wondering that too about time & temp to bake
Very nice
“Oh no, not more bacon!” Said no one ever! 😂🤣😂
Good Morning ☀️
I am no onions expert but I know that in Quebec (where we speak French) green onions and shallot are called the same by pretty much everyone that is not a food expert.
I love Stuffed Bell Peppers, but your recipe us a good bit different the one I use,I use my late father's recipe! He was a wonderful cook and his Stuffed Bell Pepper's were one of my favorite thing's he made! His recipe dies not use eggs or bread crumbs! He used tomato sauce and mixed it in with the meat and rice mixture and then he put some tomato paste on the top of the stuffed peppers and then set the peppers in tomato sauce!!!Yummy!Boy,do I miss his cooking!
I forgot he also put chopped onions in the meat, rice, and tomato sauce mixed!
Yum!!!❤️
Same way as I do. Stuffed peppers with tomatoes is delicious.
You look awesome Kimmy, absolutely gorgeous and glowing! Please talk to us about what you ate doing to lose weight x
In NZ, white or yellow onions are the ones with the brown skin...., red onions are the ones with the purple skins, not so strong and mostly used in salads, ie not cooked...., green onions we call spring onions, and Aussies call shallots. . you can use both the white and green parts, the green is less strong than the white, shallots are the reddy brown ones, like the one you used, not as strong as white onions, and a little sweeter....I think you have Chipotle onions too with white skins? Maybe they have another name too? Sadly we can't get those here...hope this helps 😀
I use a crock pot tortillini recipe. It’s a soup and the kids are finicky. They’ll eat it but not with enthusiasm. Lol. I might need to try this alternate. I like tortellini 🙌🏻.
Shallots are milder than onions and scallions are green onions.
Green onions are often called scallions - I always mix up 'scallion' and 'shallot'.. I think they're both milder than a regular onion, though, so I bet either would work!
When I want individual servings, I use cheap sandwich bags. Then I put that in a freezer bags
Hi Kimmy. Trying to find your crockpot beef tips recipe. Arika from Dorsett Doorstep mentioned it. Sounds so good!
So the first thing I noticed, and I could be late to the party 🥴 looks like you’ve lost some weight. The meals look good
When I make stuffed peppers I use the small rice like pasta for the rice. My family likes it better.
Shallots are a mixture of Garlic and Onion you can just add some onion with some garlic on a pinch haha 😂
The Pampered Chef garlic press is what I use when I don't feel like fussing with a knife. You're right; it's the best garlic press. You never mentioned the oven temperature or how long to bake the Tortellini Bake. Is it 350 degrees for 20 minutes?
Onion plus garlic equals shallot
❤️❤️❤️
Kimmie, I'm interested in knowing what you think of your pan with the hex grid on the bottom. I need new skillets and have been wondering about those.
We’re really enjoying them!
Shallots are the same as red onion just picked at a different time, so shallots are basically 'unripened' red onions. Pretty sure it's the same for green onions and white onions x
WOW Never knew you could freeze peppers 🫑 without blanching Hmm 🤔
Shallots are a milder onion and are not the same as green onions. You can substitute a shallot for white or red onion.
Shallots are an onion but they are supposed to have a mild onion flavor.
The taste of shallots is different and more sweet I would say.
