    Another great video Wayne. While lengthy, I appreciate the attention that you give to the mixing process (and thought process behind it). Such an important part of painting!!

      Thanks, yes sorry about the length but thanks for the feedback. I think getting the colour is good, but hitting the right tone is essential - if you shoot for the right colour, invariably you'll probably get the correct tone.

      @@waynevickersart2141 don't be sorry about the length.... the time you take to explain the process is exactly the thing I appreciate. Color mixing is an essential part of painting and not very often well explained. Just mentioning the different colors you use for a painting, as is so common on UA-cam, does not suffice IMHO..... keep posting "lengthy" videos 😀

    Really like your paintings and teaching. You have cleared up some things that were a bit fuzzy to me. I really like your explanation of color mixing. That is very hard for a newbie like me.

    Hey Wayne. Is the raw ochre you use to stain the canvas just straight up yellow ochre mixed with thinners?

    • @waynevickersart2141
      @waynevickersart2141  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Steven, no definitely mixed. with thinners or liquin. It should be the thinnest fastest drying layer in the entire painting really, from an archival perspective

      @@waynevickersart2141 Thanks' Wayne, I usually stain my canvas first, I just wondered if you mixed your own ochre, or is it out of the tube? I tried it today mixing yellow ochre and a bit of burnt umber, with both thinners and liquin (I saw Andrew Tischler do that) it worked great, thank you:)

      It's often a bit of both Steven, I'm not real hard and fast on the colour - often it is some tube ochre mixed with the remainder of everything I have on my palette at the time, all mixed together with maybe a touch of orange to warm it up if the mix of everything is too grey. I'm open to a happy accident 😁

    Hi Wayne. Just found your channel and very impressed with your artwork. You have really captured the landscape down here in Central Otago. Great !!
    Are you using canvas or panels for your paintings?
