- Part 2 of this very long narrated time-lapse.
Working from my own photo references from my local beach here in Papamoa, NZ.
Colours:
Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Pale, Cadmium Orange, Pyrrole Rubine, Pthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, Lead White
Very realistic 😊

I checked. cold water weighs more than warmer water. Warm water is more active.

Growing up surfing in California waves I really appreciate seascapes that are not just tropical turquoise water. This looks really realistic. I know you are from New Zealand but this could as easy be in southern california...thanks for. your video.
Hi Roman, I've been to California once and it definitely looked a lot like here. I suppose we're 37°S and I think say Santa Cruz is 37°N. That may or may not have anything to do with it lol

Your videos aren’t too long I find them to be very informative.
How exciting. Almost 1000. Congratulations! Loved part 2. As always, won’t ever fast forward as I might miss a gem of knowledge. Then as I watch, all I have is music for part of it. The water does look cold ❄️. Probably the realistic colours you used. You might not have painted the wind, but I can feel that cutting cold breeze while looking at the painting. I do have a question though, how many paintings do you have on the go at once?

I generally have 2 or 3 paintings that I'll be working on at any one time, it's nice to finish off and get back to an all fresh start sometimes.

Thank you for the second part Wayne! Great result. Could you please tell me the brushes name. I'm looking for not expensive brushes with sharp edge which lasts. If I may suggest it would be great to see your materials together with the colours under "show more" button.

Cold water seems to look softer or gradual than hot water. I don't live by an ocean but our lakes seem to be glassy and smooth the colder it gets. Maybe it has to do with the wind.

Hello, Liquin is not essential but paint direct from a tube is usually too thick for a lot of application. This is where a medium like Liquin comes in. There are a variety of mediums you can research, liquin is my personal choice. Just remember to use medium sparingly as it is the weak link in your paint layers and good luck.

Hi Judith, no I don't oil out, unless I get a dull patch but that honestly doesn't happen often. If I do wipe off anything I think the liquin on the rag helps prevent dull patches - but it's very little liquin going on.

Question: Wouldn’t the lightest light be nearest to you rather than far away bc aren’t faraway things bluer? Thanks!
Hello, um it's been a while since I made the video. You are right, the lightest lights should be the highlights on the whitewash in the foreground - hopefully I explained this but I think in this painting there were also lights on the distant breaking waves.
It's similar in a mountain scene, in theory the lightest lights would be in areas in the foreground. But often snowcapped peaks in the light appear to be the brightest element in the scene.
And sometimes, personally I avoid dramatic contrast in the immediate foreground as I find it distracting to viewing the overall scene - wow sorry, long answer that doesn't really answer the question! 😬

That's always a good question. I'm constantly checking towards the finish that my brushstrokes are improving the painting, not just putting paint on for the sake of it.
But it is personal, never completely happy - that's what makes it a lifelong endeavor 😁 I'm painting and recording a similar scene but using a lot of different brushes and probably a different result 🎨
@@waynevickersart2141 I know that a painting is never finished. I have to drop my brushes at some point. However, sometimes I come back to it.
