    Motul roars into the future with TVR as official lubricant partner
    Innovation, passion, technical development and performance at the highest levels: these values have been championed by Motul for decades and are now encapsulated in a new partnership as official lubricant partner to TVR!
    An integral part of British sports car heritage, independent manufacturer TVR has produced models over the years with names such as Griffith, Chimaera and Cerbera, adding to its mythical status in British automobile manufacturing history.
    This year TVR is celebrating its 70th anniversary and to mark that milestone it is launching a brand-new, 5L Cosworth-enhanced V8-engined sports car. Motul’s products have been used successfully in the development process, significantly adding to the performance and quality of the engineering.
    Recognised the world over for its models’ distinctively sounding ‘roar’, the new TVR will be the first new model for the marque in over nine years. Another ground-breaker is that the car will be launched at the world-renowned Goodwood Revival event on 8th September - the first time a manufacturer has done so.
    The new, as yet unnamed, lightweight model, will use innovative design and manufacturing techniques and features a carbon fiber construction courtesy of the Gordon Murray Design company. Gordon Murray, of course, is famous for his technically innovative, pioneering engineering of Formula One cars of the past and the first McLaren high performance road car.
    The V8, front-engined car will have manual transmission and rear wheel drive, and will be powered by Motul’s fully synthetic 5W20 engine oil which has been fully tested and approved by TVR. It will feature the marque’s superior styling and be hand-crafted rather than mass-produced.
    Motul’s complete range will be recommended to customers including gearbox oil, differential oil, brake fluid, coolants and windscreen washer. High quality, individual, cherished vehicles need high quality, proven products; Motul and TVR are the perfect fit.
    Arnaud Laire, Motul Managing director, commented: “Needless to say, TVR and Motul have a lot of points in common which is why the partnership was natural and obvious from the very first beginning. After a few months of technical development, now we can’t wait to unveil to TVR fans around the world the brand-new model!”
    Les Edgar, Chairman of TVR Manufacturing Ltd added: “I am delighted to be able to announce our close collaboration and partnership with Motul, a recognised leader in high performance lubricants. In all areas of our new TVR, we were adamant about partnering only with the very best, to deliver an outstanding performance car to our customers.

    I own a 1992 precat Griffith and I really do think it's one of the greatest car designs in history, I thought they were going to struggle to match it but by God they've knocked it out of the park with this - it's bloody epic!! I love the rear lights, the nods to previous TVR's like the cutaways in front of the doors, the lack of door handles, the union jacks on the kickplates and the Griffith logo on the flanks. I used to say that if I won the lottery it would be a choice for me between Aston or Mclaren but now this has blown me away - I utterly utterly adore it. We're witnessing the resurrection of TVR and it's going to fly - McLaren levels of performance for half the price and styling that gives it very serious road presence indeed. A monumental achievement...

      That would be awesome, but the cost of federalizing a car for US emissions and safety standards is truly staggering and likely totally out of reach for a small company like TVR. Unfortunately, unless the car was engineered from the beginning with that in mind, it's highly unlikely we wIll get these here. Too bad.

      They have alot, it's just that the price of most of them is way up there. Jag, Land/Range Rover, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls, McLaren... I don't know what else I'm missing but you get the picture.

      We Brits have a habit of producing cars with the longest production runs in the world.
      Original Mini.
      Original Range Rover.
      Original ( & only ) Esprit.
      Without TATA in charge at Jaguar/Land Rover they would not be in the great position they currently are.
      Same with BMW at Rolls Royce & VW at Bentley.

      I wish they went back to their alien/futuristic looking designs. This looks like a Toyota scion or Mazda coupe----not so distinctive like the cars of old.

      You don't need to be biased. We know that it's amazing. And this baby is exactly what is gonna be able to mix it up with the big boys from Porsche, Audi, and Beemer. Low weight, high power, stunning to look at, terrifying to drive. Exactly what TVRs have always been about since their genesis in the late-Forties. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Let there be horsepower!

      DMJS DMJS And that's why the TVR isn't like those cars. That demand has already been met. TVRs cater to a different customer who's looking for a rawer, more basic motoring experience. This weighs a good 400 lb less than a Cayman and nearly 1000 lb less than an M4. And, since this has a Cosworth tuned Chevy LS1, and is pushing 480 HP in a 2600 lb car, it should be ridiculously quick.
      If the chassis and suspension are properly sorted, this thing will be a little monster. And it could be that the Griffith has arrived just in time to appeal to purists who don't want to drive any one of the new cars that rely on computers and active suspensions to compensate for bloat.
      This is the antithesis of the 3950 lb, twin turbo, all wheel drive GTR, and hopefully there are still enough purists in the market to make it viable. And if TVR produced a completely engineered car this time, then they could have a hit on their hands. Sure, it looks more mainstream than the TVRs of old, but they are probably trying to give wider appeal in order to attract enough sales to actually make the company profitable. They've already proven that they couldn't attract enough buyers with sketchy quality control, quirky, illogical designs, and sometimes bizarre aesthetics and controls.
      At least this time they started with a good foundation by building the car around the reliable and bulletproof LS-1 engine.
      I wish TVR luck, and if the Griffith's engineering and execution are as good as its looks, this car will be something I'd like to have parked next to my Exige.

      The engine is basically a tuned Ford Coyote, so there shouldn't be much bother there. As for the many specialist parts... knowing TVR, let's just hope they have a lot of spares.

      I'm not being a smart ass, or Chev fanboy, but the LS series of Chev engines simply do everything better, especially for the foundation of this car, i.e. low weight, which transfers to better CoG and overall car dynamics.
      The LS is simply smaller, lighter, larger capacity and simply easier and cheaper to get big power from. Maybe TVR felt it was to simple? Maybe they wanted lots of fancy specs on their brochures?
      I don't understand why Ford went to the DOHC V8, they should have, could have stuck to the pushrod V8 as well., still serving just fine for Chev and Dodge.

      @@markmark5269 Im not a mustang person but you have to unerstand. The amount of power that comes out of ford's 5 liters is absolutely amazing. The way it breaths is incredible. People getting 520 WHEEL horsepower from this engine with bolt ons is so outrageous. One reason they chose it for a lightweight roadster is the way it revs. You cannot do this as easily or reliably with a pushrod. 8000 rpm is possible.

    It's amazing. I have always totally loved Tvr. The cars are the perfect blend of rawness and beauty.
    Even the ups and downs of the company make the car more appealing to me as it's not like any other car company.

    I may have to import this to the USA, I love tvr. It all started when I first saw the sagaris and I fell in love but I could not afford it until they went out of business. Now they introduced the griffith and now ima buy one.

    Love the look i heard 4 new cars in a couple of years this is the entry one good start some of the future models should be bonkers. The rear is very tvr. I'm sure it won't have any engineering or build quality issues hope to see them in the US someday

    I'm an American with what I consider to be good taste in sports cars. There is something about TVR's that I find absolutely bewitching, The styling is radically different from any other company on the planet. My emotion toward TVR's is just like the Clarkson/Hammond/May trio's reverence for Alfas (which I also love). This is the British equivalent of that "passion" and "soul" they inevitably use when reviewing an Alfa. There is just something special about TVR''s. I guarantee you would turn more heads over here with a Sagaris than most any Ferrari (and let's not pretend 99.9 percent of high end sports car buyers buy sports cars for any other reason than turning heads). I'm sooooo stoked to see the new Griffith, even though I'll never be able to buy one or drive one in America.

    I look at the new TVR as a modern day AC/Shelby Cobra--Ford V8 in lightweight chassis. You CANNOT lose with this combination. I hope they make their way to the US...

    Oh my!! I am speechless about this resurrection!! For starters, I love the design!! I am pretty sure the car is designed to look good in the real world!! The engine sounds amazing, it made my heart beat faster!! Also, the iStream technology is something that must be further exploited! About 2 months ago, I read an article about Gordon's city car and now boom, there's a sports car based on this chassis!! This technology must be brought to the lower levels of the food chain!!

    P.S.: You only forgot to show us how the doors open! Are there any buttons on the mirrors, like past TVRs??

    I like that they went for na instead of forced induction or the stupid unreliable batteries. Just imagine that 400 hp per tonne under ur foot instantly.

    I'm a TVR Fan !! People I know who owned them loved them tho they fell to pieces regularly !!
    I loved the Unique styling of the later cars . This new one looks like it's designed by 4 men in a garden shed !! A lot of money will sadly be lost !! The lovely Lion Heart car has gone skint . Maybe it's not too late .

    I love the idea of a new TVR.....rear end looks bloody fantastic.....but the rest of the car looks a little lack-lustre....i dunno

      I like it, the design is very clean and graceful, not something which can be said for many new cars.

      Jimmy Myers 'fuka' really? mate its an opinion. A car that's been in the design phase for two years and that's all they came up with? Like i said, rear end is crazy but you've got a car going for 90k going in to a market full of high performance sports cars which all look crazier than the next. I guess the Griffith has always been one of the reserved looking TVRs. But I'm still reeling from the design of the Sagaris and the later Tuscans! So no my friend, keep your insults to yourself. Aston yes! Jag....meh lol there's much that can be said for Jags and their designs. Nice day to you Sir
