    The first page in the instruction manual for my Chimaera is a message from Peter Wheeler (the then chairman) basically warning about the car having a high torque to weight ratio, and that it can "can lead to the approaching of obstacles at higher speeds than imagined." I love everything about the ethos of this company in this era. "Have fun, use your judgment and try not to bin it." An antidote to modern cars with their nannying electronics and endless warning beeps and chimes. Also one of the few cars that makes you smile just starting it up.

I used to see loads of TVR's at a TVR breakers in the North East, I couldn't why they also seemed to have been rear ended - then I discovered the consequences of hoofing it out of a junction on a damp road and nearly ending up looking where I'd just come from! I've been an importer for a few years now. Recently though, I imported my first TVR; a 1997 Chimaera 400. First known 97 TVR in the States. The other day, I took it to a European car meet. Probably 40-50 cars there and from just about every Euro manufacturer. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot, every conversation went silent, I parked between an Aventador and a McLaren 570s and every single person there crowded around the TVR. And it was the most basic TVR that was sold during the Wheeler era. Can't even imagine their reaction when I can import a Tuscan or one of these.

I don't mind the Viper's side exhausts because they are at least angled backwards. I _really_ want to get one of these, but when I do I think I'll have some neat pattern of holes drilled into the "back/sides" of those exhaust pipes, and have the angled cut at the end of the pipes going the other direction to make it sort of flush with the rounded rear end of the car. The transparent rear spoiler is my absolute favorite though, next to the fender vents.

      Joel Peñaló Exactly. This car is for drivers who know how to drive and handle a car. You give this car to a young guy who is used to drive modern cars, he will kill himself. Young drivers who drive modern cars have no skill to drive one of these. In fact I believe that modern cars just make drivers more useless. In order to make cars more safer for the driver, rules and regulations are pushing the manufacturers to make cars safer with abs, traction control, hill assist, etc but it will make the driver loose the knowledge on how to manage or manoeuvre a car in difficult situations.

    Imagine how much better the Sagaris would be if its construction was more solid, used more light-weight materials, and offered more down-force. In some ways, I'd be interested in owning one of these but removing all the paneling and unnecessary interior features, basically making it a more powerful Ariel Atom.

    • @Toastmaster_5000
      @Toastmaster_5000 7 років тому

      jokrj You sure put a lot of effort into something so petty. The Sagaris is already very comparable to the Atom, hence me pointing out the comparison. Yes, obviously they're mechanically different, but at a glance they're very similar. They're decently modern sports cars with a lot of power and are mechanically very simple. The major difference is the Atom is smaller, weaker, and is basically just a skeleton. Remove the panels from the Sagaris and you basically get a bigger more powerful Atom. It's really not that hard to understand, and even if you get into the semantic differences, they're not significant enough to bitch about.

    • @Toastmaster_5000
      @Toastmaster_5000 7 років тому +1

      John Michael Twist Not really. Plenty of cars are about as light-weight as they can get without being structurally unsound or stupidly expensive. Plenty of cars out there are built very well where they don't have any creaks, rust, or bends/dents after 10 years of use. The vast majority of cars don't need much downforce at all.
      The Sagaris' major pitfalls are heavy panels, poor construction, and poor aerodynamics.
