THANK YOU!!!! I've been running my Roomba daily for at least 2 years and it started giving me a communication error daily along with not being able to properly get a seal to empty the bin. I never would have thought to look at this. I've been dealing with errors DAILY and was at my wits end!!! It WORKED!!! Thank you so much for making this video!!!
Thanks! I have brand new i9 and 8 out 10 times it would not be able to empty. I still liked it even if I had to empty it myself. But you’re brilliant!!
Also heard that there is a sensor in the front bumper area that also causes this issue, and that you need to clean it. The post I saw said to take off the front bumper to clean but used a can of compressed air and that did the job.
You need to clean your covers that hold the sensors behind them both on the I Robot itself and also the sensor on the dustbin. This will fix your problem without using blue tape. I was having similar issues and mine was not talking straight or correctly. I cleaned these plastic areas really well with a rubbing compound to get all the scratches and debris off them and then it started working perfectly. Also try completely resetting your robot. This will help as well.
A workaround for a $600+ vacuum. I won’t even begin to go into the issues my S9 has. My only saving grace is I didn’t pay full price for it and I bought it used. I’m gonna fix mine by putting it on marketplace or in a garage sale. I have a high-end shark vacuum also, and that thing is miles above the capabilities of my S9 Roomba, especially navigation.
Trying to fix mine. Done everything I can think off. But right when the main two wheels hit the start of the docking station, it sorta gets stuck for half a sec and gives up, reversing immediately and reverses like 3 meters, spins a bit and does error 14. Makes no sense
EASIEST FIX FOR EMPTY BIN PROMT NOT WORKING!!! We suffered the empty bin mode not working. It would disappear from the app dashboard when you pressed it and not reappear until later.we spoke to customer service and I did everything suggested for the j6. Rebooting, blowing out the dust behind the bumper, removing the vac tube under the tower, making sure there were no blockages, blah blah blah blah . . . Nothing worked until i did a factory reset from the app and saved the map option. The empty bin worked perfectly. It will also force update the software. They never suggested it. Dumb asses.

OMG thank you! I was ready to throw this thing in the trash...so frustrating but your trick worked and it was so simple!!

It worked on my i7 roomba. Perfect!!!
Good to hear. Nobody else has really chimed in. I was starting to think I was the only one in the world with this issue.

I have a lower end Shark that I'm pretty impressed with. The lidar and the self emptying work great. IRobot is resting on their first to market rep.
I agree!
Thanks for the info . i agree a software update should fix it....

Roomba is a scam. Is just trash. I bought one it cost nearly $800 and is just a bag full of errors.
What model and errors? I thought the same as you until I realized my problems were maintenance related. They are rock solid
