- Only did 4 laps in the McLaren Senna GTR and our Motec beacon was accidentally set at T14; we also pitted in at T5 so it ended up working out for a cool down situation. I’m pretty sure we could’ve reset it easily with the lap button but didn’t want to mess with it considering the hoops we jumped through in order to make this happen. The Senna GTR laps go like so 2:16, 2:14, 2:12, and then a 2:08.4xx. All with passing cars and of course she can go faster! I learned later the car didn’t have the proper setup on it and being the piece of art it is; I felt this was plenty of “pushing” for now lol
So, I downloaded the Motec Data and my GPS Speeds vrs display speeds were much higher. 176.7mph on the back straight, 131.5mph exit of the carousel, 150mph into T11 brake zone, 126mph into T3 (can go much quicker). 94.8mph avg speed during the 2:08.467 lap time.
The McLaren GTR is spectacular, braking was unreal, min speeds were very high and this car displays a “fast in-fast out” drive. A light brake input with a proper brake release allowed the rolling speeds to help the lap time. Being that this car looks so radical, it doesn’t feel like that when you’re driving it near or at the limit. It’s surprisingly composed and you can’t see any of the body work from the cockpit so you kind off forget what you’re driving. It does hit an aero wall around 150mph or so and it’s decel ability is unmatched. There’s always the trade off with drag and downforce, of course.
Park Place McLaren, US RACETRONICS and Esses Racing truly made this happen. Everyone worked together on ensuring this GTR had a proper outing and my student (owner) was incredibly fast out of the gates and thank you everyone. - Авто та транспорт

Ha, he’s my buddy but the AMR upgraded Vulcan is only a tad slower than the Senna GTR, lap time wise! 🖖

Don't know about McLaren's specifically, but you get a warning light at only 4lbs low on a Porsche. Doesn't take long from dropping tire pressures after a couple sessions to get the light. It's all about getting the proper pressure at the end of the session, not where you start. Sometimes you have to start with a low # to get to the ultimate pressure at the end.
One yr at Indy it was hot so I was bleeding off pressure throughout the day. We also had 2.5 hrs between sessions so the tires cooled off. On the grid for the last session my dash said my left rear was flat (7lbs low). I opened the door and looked - not flat but low from a day's worth of deflating. By the end of the session it was at the ideal pressure.
The track is smooth as butter (aside from entry to turn 3 it seems). got to find time to get back out there again soon. sorry I missed this weekend, brother.

What time do you think it would ultimately be capable of? I always wonder with these kind of hyper "track day" cars if they're capable of beating something like a GTE car that actually costs less.
Considering these cars are not restricted by any regulations I would say yes they are capable.
The big dawgs think it can do a 1:59-2:00 flat at COTA. This car didn’t have a setup on it, had a passenger, traffic...so I’m sure I had a clean 2:05-2:06 in there. It’s possible for sure but only with insurance lol
Mclaren claims that this is faster than a gt3 car. It is easier and more forgiving for sure, but on low speed tracks who knows?

Great driving. Looks planted...what an awesome sort of race cars. What was that event owners bringing their own cars or what? vulcan, bac mono, ford gt, amg gt3, bunch of porsche etc. Were you the fastest car out there?
roletnabih thanks man, car didn’t even have the proper setup on it yet and really rewards you if you under drive it. Smooth is fast in this car...it’s our Trackrat group. We are a Texas based group of track friends, we have a really neat list of vehicles in our bunch. I was the fastest :)

@@dustinmcgovney7684 it's the GTR, it's a race car. That said, it didn't have an optimized setup for the track, wasn't pushed to GT qualification level, and had a passenger and traffic on its fastest lap. It's faster than GT3 cars

Awesome video, Adam. I’m curious as to how the Senna GTR compares to the P1 GTR? Does the former feel nimbler to you?
I honestly haven’t piloted the P1 GTR, yet! But I have a ton of laps in the P1 and I have a good idea what it would be like. This one is much lighter but doesn’t have the same power curve, of course. I believe the Senna GTR has more drag as well... I would say the Senna is really on its toes compared!

I recommend go karting! Its alot cheaper and you get the same experience!

Do you use both feet when racing in an automatic?
For the most part, yes. Some do not for fuel saving reasons but that person has mastered left foot braking.
is this acceleration slower than the normal senna?
This has more drag but more power then the Senna. I still saw 176mph via gps. Which is about spot on with the Senna as my exit and min speed on the previous corner was better in the GTR
Would it be better that it have shorter gears?
It was actually going 176.8mph, Speedo is reading the wrong sensor. Car has ton of aero drag at high speed but gearing seems fine.

6th and 7th gears still remain. I wonder if there is a track where the 7th speed could be used to top revs.
Because of that i am wondering if the gear ratio could be shorter to improve acceleration a little bit.

Speed sensors. Motec GPS was 176.8 top speed, it’s not reading correctly on the dash.
I wonder how the Senna GTR will stack up against it's sibling the P1 GTR
KAD 37 the Senna GTR would net a quicker lap time, has more downforce and is lighter. The P1 would out accelerate it

Top end really suffers with all that downforce. 720s is faster down the straight. Needs1000hp.

@@AdamTobolowsky ahhhh gotcha. So about the same then maybe a couple mph quicker. I've seen 174 from the 720s. Curious how that Senna gtrs laptime is compared to the 720s gt3.
@@AdamTobolowsky I would actually like A Senna to have Koenigsegg level of power. As far as I can see, the car is super stable, the light weight means it's actually quite a bit faster than a Moto GP bike in the corners and doesn't move around like the P1 GTR does. Someone actually compared the Senna gtr to Marquez on his bike!
Given the times a professional driver can set, I think the Senna can lap the track just as fast as a Moto GP bike. Or Faster if there are lots of corners involved.
