along with jack white, ryan's the most important artist of his generation!!!! i love his music!!!seen him in manchester this week & was blown away!!! he's awesome!!
I have never listen to Ryan Adams before except for when he did Wharf Rat with Phil Lesh(Grateful Dead Bass Player) and this song has sold me on him. Totally awesome.
First saw this years and years ago...so glad it's still here. Everything about this is great. Should take the place of Pink Floyd's song as a guitar-learner staple. This exact version.
Although they are officially unreleased, the albums "The Suicide Handbook" and "48 Hours" are the two you ought to look up. The former includes the two songs you mentioned, among many others in their vein emotionally (as you may have guessed from the album title), and is completely acoustic; and the latter, while not completely acoustic, evokes similar feelings and has "Walls," "Chin Up, Cheer Up," and "Like The Twilight," which are all essential listening.
Had to read back a few comments...Whoever wrote that an American Idol guy covering Ryan Adams' best song 'Come Pick Me Up' has a "SOOO" much better version should be banned from UA-cam comments.
They clearly dont understand real music. Anybody claiming an American Idolist is better than.......insert artist here, has missed the boat. Just saying...
Wish You Were Here" Cotton candy and a rotten mouth You know you're so fucked up You know I couldn't help but have it for you And everybody knows the way I walk And knows the way I talk And knows the way I feel about you It's all a bunch of shit And there's nothing to do around here It's totally fucked up I'm totally fucked up Wish you were here And streets that only turn to boulevards And houses with back yards and it's raining like hell on the cars And everybody knows the way I walk And knows the way I talk Knows the way I feel about you It's all a bunch of shit And there's nothing to do around here It's totally fucked I'm totally fucked Wish you were here And if I could have my way We'd take some drugs And we'd smile We'd smile We'd smile But not tonight, my dear Wish you were here Wish you were here Wish you were here Wish you were here
one or two good alblums it's like across of radio head and something like the smiths but it specially on it's own really great but dose have a lot of bad songs, but yer the ones that are good are really good.
i totally agree SpahnRanch1969.i love Ryan Adams music but people?fan are just like sheep. i saw him in nottingham in 2005(i think) and he was drunk ,starting then stopping songs and he spent half the gig trying to be a comedian .Lots of people were laughing at his drunken ramblings but i wanted to tell him to shut up and sing some songs.when he actually did sing a song ,he was brilliant .
hgoblin no, why would that be it.?..whiskeytown and adams are from there and they got avtremendoys break to accompany their unbelievable talents..my lyrics
I dont see whats wrong with it. Thats who he is if anything he should have more respect because of just being real and not caring about some blownup fake intellectual artist bullshit image.
I love ryan adams' acoustic songs.. but the rock/punk songs i dislike. Does anyone know which album are fully acoustic (like dear chicago / tell it to my heart etc..)
awwe man, i dig your comment, but pat metheney gets a bad rap just because of his 'group' stuff, fact is nobody plays straight ahead guitar trio jazz like him, he's seriously and passionately convicted, not to mention a greater virtuoso than anyone in jazz today, 'cept for maybe nels cline. anyway....
Miss this Ryan. This shit was the soundtrack to my late teens / early 20s.
At least the camera dude got the live song!! Ace.
along with jack white, ryan's the most important artist of his generation!!!! i love his music!!!seen him in manchester this week & was blown away!!! he's awesome!!
Wow i love his sound. His voice is so soothing and the guitar too!
I have never listen to Ryan Adams before except for when he did Wharf Rat with Phil Lesh(Grateful Dead Bass Player) and this song has sold me on him. Totally awesome.
I got someone this song goes out to... Man I needed this today.
Ryan is the REAL DEAL! The whole package.
That American Analogue Set album is good. Thanks, Ryan.
You make Jacksonville, NC proud Ryan.
First saw this years and years ago...so glad it's still here. Everything about this is great. Should take the place of Pink Floyd's song as a guitar-learner staple. This exact version.

INCREDIBLE RYAN ADAMS;
he's such a fun guy and he writes great songs. :))
I wrote this…and 95% of everything he will release
Not the musical arrangement..the lyrics
He doesn’t write them, he arranges them musically…I wrote them
@HarryPowell7 YOU are so right. There is a reason why I keep coming back to this; Spahn needs to lighten up.
What would've been so fucking best. Although I can hear him covering it in my head and I like it. :)
Fuckin' love this song!!

Lost in the Cosmos mostly don't know quite what you're except those last songs mentioned..= those and 20 others
When I wrote this stuff Pink Floyd wasn’t on my turntable
American Analog Set's album Know By Heart
He looks and sounds just like Paul Westerberg here.
....wish I was there. ..but I'm stuck in Alabama. ..wishing you were here. ...
Tonya Bohanon tonya..what are you saying, what ryans saying.?
@@wlgj1341 no.. I'm saying just what I said.. love DRA
Another cover I want: Rush's 2112 by Mumford and Sons, just to see what it sounds like on banjo.

Wish You Were Here"
Cotton candy and a rotten mouth
You know you're so fucked up
You know I couldn't help but have it for you
And everybody knows the way I walk
And knows the way I talk
And knows the way I feel about you
It's all a bunch of shit
And there's nothing to do around here
It's totally fucked up
I'm totally fucked up
Wish you were here
And streets that only turn to boulevards
And houses with back yards
and it's raining like hell on the cars
And everybody knows the way I walk
And knows the way I talk
Knows the way I feel about you
It's all a bunch of shit
And there's nothing to do around here
It's totally fucked
I'm totally fucked
Wish you were here
And if I could have my way
We'd take some drugs
And we'd smile
We'd smile
We'd smile
But not tonight, my dear
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
Wish you were here
I didn't film this (see discription).
@EtherMagic Paul covered a completely different song
one or two good alblums it's like across of radio head and something like the smiths but it specially on it's own really great but dose have a lot of bad songs, but yer the ones that are good are really good.
The drummer looks like that guy on 'Lie to Me'
