0 seconds ago This appearance was when I first saw Ryan performing. I recognize him as the reincarnated spirit energy of Gram Parsons. No turning back. 💗🎶🎸
I feel so bad knowing there are so many people in the world who will never know the genius of Ryan Adams. At the same time it makes me feel privileged that I do.
***** Hi N2Music1. Yes, I know about the Menieres. He has been touring around the world this year and just finished. I really admire how he is conquering the Menieres. Can you imagine being a musician and having a disease like that? Kudos to him. I was lucky enough to see him in San Diego and he was great. Glad he has a handle on it.
Best video on UA-cam... And yeah, he is a little, but in his defense, Gretsch Black Falcons (the one he's using here) and Gibson 355s (his Walnut electric he normally uses) are both very large guitars... The tone from that Princeton Reverb and the Vibro King in stereo is heavenly.
I’m not one for tattoos, especially lyric tattoos but I’d definitely consider it! Which I’m doing now, staring at 3/4 full shot glass. This is why I like Ryan Adams! Some of his albums have a middle part of 3 or 4 songs of jibber-jabber. You take his collective hits and put that into a album; you would have just have a mass cult. But he does his own thing and that’s respected! Idk I’m drunk! Good song!
this might have been one of Ryans heroin phases but goddamn was it eclectic. Cold Roses, JCN, Darkbreaker, 29..... live performances like these... they say artists do some of their best work on drugs, and while a bit cliche its damn true
@@terrybartholomew7311 I just relistened but I’m not catching the perceived clam bass note. I’m wanting to know exactly which note you’re referring to. Could you tell me where it lands in regards to the lyrics? Or some other hint. Not outing you on the spot or even disagreeing. I’m just really interested in such things. Thanks dude. 👊
@@AndySalinger33 Hey man - sure no problem - it's right on 3.02 - not a wrong note- she just doesn't fret it properly, and its rhythmically dubious. Listen with headphones and you'll hear it. (hey, we've all done worse ourselves, right?)
@@terrybartholomew7311 yes, we all sure have. And of course, I now hear the part clearly. Rhythmically dubious, yes. In fact, it’s the very par I was hoping you were referring to, as it’s always caught me slightly off base as well. And yeah man, for the subtleties, nothing beats a nice set of headphones. Personally, I use nothing else. Anyway, this has been a really cool conversation! Be well!
i introduced my X to this man and now it reminds me of her when i listen to it... and that sucks because she is miserable and does not deserve to know the genius of ryan's music!
Shout out to everyone here, past and/or future...you have fine taste indeed! Compare this rocking version with Austin City Limits. I mean, that's a very cool performance...but THIS! Homegirl on bass really holds it the fuck down and swings this jam! I'd marry that girl right now, on principle. Cat Popper is tremendous.
I remember one televised concert where he was wearing a white-dotted, blue T-shirt. I loved that version of the song, and the whole session actually, but can't seem to find it on the internet...
@CrikeyAlexNick Well put. I have tried to turn people that I care about deeply on to his music, and they just don't care, or don't get it. The way I look at it is...perhaps they just don't deserve to know.
I could watch Ryan Adams UA-cam vids all night. Having a bunch of blow wouldn't hurt, either. This guy makes me want to try heroin. Along with Hendrix, Morrison, Cobain, Townsend, Clapton, Staley, Oberst, Joplin and all those other incredible artists whose heroin habits aren't common knowledge. Pot is great, but I think I really need heroin to put me over the top. ;-)
I think this was when RA was in his "heroin phase" and Ive always interpreted that look by bass player Catherine Popper as more of a maternal look of caring...
The Gretsch guitars sound so so so so good !
This is my favorite song by Ryan Adams. I could listen to it on a loop, forever.
but not this version ...the acoustic version will stir your soul
Really sounds perfect when he slows it down, which he did.
Love the blend of the two Gretsch guitars with the pedal steel...
Love this song and my fav Ryan album - cold roses
How do you even pick a Favorite Ryan Album? But I must agree Cold Roses is Brilliant!

What a band, what a tune
I feel so bad knowing there are so many people in the world who will never know the genius of Ryan Adams. At the same time it makes me feel privileged that I do.
CrikeyAlexNick amen
I so want that guitar. This is one of the best songs on Cold Roses..
One of the most underrated singer/songwriters musicians ever. His music is transcendent.
He has the timeless lyrics of all the greats - Dylan, young, Robert hunter.

Always will be a great song. Love it!
Great voice, lyrics and performance!!!
Love the guitar blend
This unique song of simple but clever lyrics and a great hook. This song is great in all the various presentations! Keep up the great work Ryan.
Ryan looks like absolute hell in this performance. God knows what he was up to leading up to this gig
Was he up for 72 hours ahead of time?
Oh those beautiful gretsch guitars 🖤🖤🖤
This will be the song playing in my way to Vegas from LA. Let it ride babe!!! Lucky you.
He wrote this in 1857 when he was a pirate..
u see more and more of his face as the song goes along ;) love this guy.
If he is strung out here, and we don't know if he is, gotta give him credit for not missing a beat on this brilliant song.

Speedballs, he’s on speedballs here
ryan adams is the man.

Best version.
Still the best version
Catherine Popper... 😍😍😍
I fell in love with the bassist Cat Popper when I first saw this. Goddamn it all goes fast. Good days, those.
jeezo that hobo can sure sing.
this is so awesome, Ryan looks so great here
I first heard this song in a movie called "Lucky You" w/ Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore. Great song! This is a great song to ride to.
Let it ride, I love this song, reminds to look at things and say o well, live life with no regrets
Greatest songwriter who ever lived.
Hid buddy I think might have him bested. A one Jason isbell. Either way I don't want to pick one over the other.

And those sweet, sweet backup vocals! Cat's look at 1:44 kills me.
I got hard
shame about that flubbed bass note around 3.00 though....

Yah, still one of my favorite YT clips.
A just about perfect song.
nostalgic feeling....

Song featured on the movie Lucky You
good song
i introduced my X to this man and now it reminds me of her when i listen to it... and that sucks because she is miserable and does not deserve to know the genius of ryan's music!
Thankfully.
my favorite Ryan song

you said it brother.
+NewGoldStandard your channel is cool. Subbed. Cheers brother.
Ryan really snubs her in this video. essentially has his back to her the entire song.
I JUST DISCOVERED RYAN ADAMS AND OMG.....WHERE THE HELL WAS I???? HES FANFUCKINGTASTIC AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DEANNA CRABTREE Welcome! You might find the fantastic album "Heartbreaker" as a place to dip your foot in the pool. It's a great one. Cheers!
@SpontilagiousGee Hey, Your right. Beautiful guitar and sounds great!!!
Bop bop bop bop!!
Cat Popper rules.
In Several Ways! Brilliant
this has to be the best version of this song....but I do say that about every version of this song...
Oh hell yes, my friend!
I remember one televised concert where he was wearing a white-dotted, blue T-shirt. I loved that version of the song, and the whole session actually, but can't seem to find it on the internet...
This version is my favourite ua-cam.com/video/HN-wHU2f_jg/v-deo.html
@beldo Cheers mate.
Tons of love to DRA.
@woodedape pretty sure it's a Gretsch Black falcon.
Neil Young Image fro 76 Tour - Live at the Roxy
the other guitarist is JP Bowerstock, it believe.
Supre Koolio it’s Neil Casal
This is pre NC. Supre Koolio is correct
It’s JP
He went through a little Werewolf stage. Looks good.
He really should grow out the beard again!
Steel guitar💚💚💚
Fuck yea!
@CrikeyAlexNick Well put. I have tried to turn people that I care about deeply on to his music, and they just don't care, or don't get it. The way I look at it is...perhaps they just don't deserve to know.
There was a lot of Gretsch on Cold Roses...horah
I could watch Ryan Adams UA-cam vids all night. Having a bunch of blow wouldn't hurt, either.

brah ...that hair ball slay the song
I see what ya did there. Nice.
Lol 1:42 Catherine checking Ryan out
I want see his face a peek. Absolutely bad I love 💕 hearing now then❤️💖
I think this was when RA was in his "heroin phase" and Ive always interpreted that look by bass player Catherine Popper as more of a maternal look of caring...
@hugosalarm trying to find this Ramblers song... help?
Effen awesome! Then again, nothing Ryan ever does isn't.
Does anyone know who the bassist is? I've listened to several live versions of this song and I really like the way she plays it.
I believe that is Catherine Popper.
Was Ryan inspired by Sultans of Swing?
@beldo Where is this interview? I've seen it quoted before...
I wish I were Catherine Popper. *sigh*
I think he looks awesome with his huge beard.
What make of guitar is Ryan playing in this video? Anyone know?
Nice wig ryan :D
He looks pretty fucking strung out.
BTO??? They're Canada's answer to ELP. Their big hit was TCB.
That's not Neal Casal on guitar is it? If it is, he looks completely different with sideburns
Haunting and beautiful, but the album version is more so.
like his little lapel pin...
wtf, this isn't Bachman Turner Overdrive.
22 dislikes? WTF????
SAD
Andy Dick on steel Guitar and a singer with no face,,,, LOVE IT
i guess I'm pretty off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream newly released movies online ?
@Jeremy Milan i use Flixzone. Just google for it =)
Where's Neal?
Reagan Miller Playing lead and singing for the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, and doing a mighty fine job of it!
slinky emperor I will look that up. Thanks!
Reagan Miller This was pre Neal Casal era Cardinals. The big guy is JP Bowerstock. But yes, Neal is now with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood.
Tyler McSwain Thx Tyler. Yes, I looked it up and sure enough, there was Neal with CRB. Glad he's doing fine. Was JP Bowerstock in any other band?
Reagan Miller From my understanding, he is the "creative guru" and basically the songwriter for The Strokes.
*a little guy
Wow Ryan is pretty grizzly in this video. He looks like a completely different person.
The cd version of this song sucks. This version is amazing. More artist need to do this.
Ryan Adams i awesome! much better than BRyan Adams!
aye, who the hell is that on guitar?!?!?!?! Def not Neal.
why does Ryan hide his face? it's not that bad ...
You can barely see his face underneath that hairball.
Lol your name's Art Vandelay that's probably the best made up name
Useless comment...
Emo country at its best
