Confidence and a carefree attitude. Dave had it.
And lost it. Big time.
Diamond Dave :)
Life tends to humble us, he Still has lots more than some,
Because he knows what’s good when he hears it.
@@LetsGoAmateurRadio 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
His talent and ADD are unreal! Fun.
@Jedimaster420 I'm saying! verse chorus... and he hasn't sung a single note... ok time for a break so I can twitch!
😂😂😂😂
Your spirit shines...and stay non- cocky as otherwiser your voice will crack😊
I think David Lee Roth would have been a member of the Wack Pack if he werent in Van Halen!
Add is a power
This is A great version of Dave. Even the banter had me laughing. Shout out to his great backing musicians even doing Mikes backing vocals.
I Love David Lee Roth and Ray Luzier!
I have to admit I was surprisingly entertained. I didn’t expect Dave to sound this good
James Lomenzo bass player for megadeth now days
I notice that too Ray on percussion
@@MikeHart72 dave sounded badass here
Makes me sad every time I hear a VH song. My twin brother died suddenly two weeks before Eddie. My brother was a great guitar player and Eddie and VH were a huge influence on us. So much emotion and memories tied to VH for me. I was heading down to see my neices (my twin brothers daughters) when I heard the news that Eddie died over the radio. I was flooded with emotions.
Rest in Peace to your brother..
sorry 4 your loss..
Makes me sad to hear Roth butcher Van Halen songs…period. Hell this is probably 2002-3? May you find peace. Sorry for your loss. 🙏🏼
@@mortis5150 he didn’t butcher anything here . In fact he demonstrated a superb vocal on everything .
Condolences brother!
This is hands down the best non-studio record performance from Dave I've heard for many decades.
That because this was 22 years ago.... lol
Quotes by David Lee Roth……
“I didn’t get with every woman i wanted but, i got with every woman that wanted me.”
lol classic. My favorite quote of his is "I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass" - David Lee Roth 🤘
Same!
@@MoneyBooBoo Fantastic!
although that can't possibly be true...
@@jondunmore4268 Google his quotes
God damnit. He should have done an acoustic album. Jeeze his voice is so bluesy. Love it
He has a very bluesy album, damn can't remember name sorry!
Could this be magic?
'nuff said!
He did an album with John 5 but his voice was gone by then
He did, with bluegrass musicians. Not so great.
@@diamondd2778 Not a John 5 fan..
I had no idea Dave played guitar! And it wasn't just strumming one or two chords, he had a groove going.
That lineup he had are some serious musicians. He always picked the best.
"Sammy throws the party... I am the party"
- David Lee Roth
EXACTLY 😝🤟
Classic!
Logically then...Sammy threw you out
Wow!! Dave sounds amazing acoustically here... VH shoulda reunited back then when his voice was still this good
Agreed . 2007 he still had . 2012 n onward not so much . He needed direction
@@diamondd2778 he needed Sammy
@@diamondd2778 the time to do it would have been in 96/97. Eddie was a mess by this time (2002) up until about 2010.
@@pb12661 2008 i believe
Eddie bobeou!
Its great to hear the bluesiness of these classic tracks acoustically and Diamond Dave can still dish it!
No he can't. Seen recent vids?
David lee roth was the energy on van halen 1984. No doubt..🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥
Na history showes it was the band seeing how daves career tanked without the van Halen band... in comparison to van hagars success 😊
I didn't know Dave played guitar. This is some of the best I've heard him. It's so raw and unprocessed . Awesome job by the other musicians. Great!
Watch the US Festival gig on UA-cam. It's the only thing he knows. Same with Robert Plant. Played guitar solos on his 1988 tour. They only learn one thing so they can call themselves "musicians" outside of singing and playing harmonica.
Most singers songwriter play something
Dave consistently played acoustic (rhythm) guitar on every song with an acoustic guitar in the Van Halen MKI catalog.
He played at every show for many years with VH.
@@richardkeller4193 Duhhhhh. Dave can play and he creates melodies and arrangements: He's a musician.
That was awesome!! David Lee Roth is the BEST!!
You can tell that all those iconic Screams really took a toll on his voice. Still a class act tho gotta love Dave
DLR is the complete package. Not just an extraordinary singer, but the acrobatics, personality, the banter, the charisma--that's what makes him one of the greatest frontmen of all time.
Yes, people underestimate the importance of a frontman vs just a good singer.
I definitely wouldn’t say great singer, but great showman, absolutely.
@@r.a.fiallos234I absolutely agree with ya on that.
His voice is killer here
Are you deaf?...just curious...no judging
He's the real deal rock star.🤖❤
Wow. He blew me away. That was a solid performance
Yea hes a monster hahaha lol anama & runnin wit the devil!!! So good
Naw he cased the beginning of beautiful girls. 👎🏻
Get your ears checked 2023 sammy sounds better than 2002 dave
David always delivers those one liners.
Damn DLR brought it to The Howard Stern show first thing in the morning. He sounds good and his acoustic band.
This was a great performance - well done Dave. Wow 2002 - 20 years ago!
Dave was the greatest Rock Frontman of the 70's, and mid 80's ! He was a great showman and had immense classical talent !!! 👏
70’s and half of the 80’s…but any further is just not true.
Freddy Mercury says hi......
@@Adam-oy4ix he has monkeypox
@@Adam-oy4ix .....No Freddy says....Heeeyaaaaayyyhhhh!😘💋👅💅👉👈👨❤️💋👨💐🌈🎀⚔️
One of the best band front men from the 80s and he knows it he has the confidence in the way he carries himself he is having a good time and doesn't care what anyone thinks .
I always wanted to hear David Lee Roth, Ted Nugent and Gene Simmons have a conversation.
Lol
Great observation!
The Sammy Hagar comes and F’s things UP🎉
No no no. Two insecure Richards and Dave. No need to hear anything Nugent says. Or gene.
Steven Tyler in that same conversation
The world still isnt ready for DLR.. hes been 100 years ahead of time for 45 years now..
VH with David lee Roth is simply... the best.
Hagar Van Halen = Bubble gum rock love songs!
Dave doing his lounge act had me rolling! 🤣
DLR at his flamboyant best - and still with a good voice..
Natural born entertainer. Thanks Dave!
This was such a joyful treat! Awesome job Diamond Dave and the band! Ain’t Talkin Bout Love was great!
His best song by far
I'm a big Van Halen fan, and that was surprisingly good.
5:54
He really is an amazing performer and this was totally a Dave thing awesome
His voice was so powerful when he was young.
A fun and awesome presentation with great forethought and execution with love to the fans. Thanks Dave!!!
Dave is likely the best frontman from that era., a real showman.
I'm sure Freddie Mercury might have a word with you on that.
@@RastaSaiyaman Good point! I did not even think of the great Freddie Mercury because FM is on a whole 'nother level!
@@RastaSaiyaman I'm sure Axl Rose might have a word about that too. DLR is a legend.... in his own mind.
No a great singer, but best frontman of course
@@terricklee6268 Axel Rose? I hope you are kidding.
David Lee Roth is the great! First 6 Van Halen albums are untouchable!
Aghhhhh I am a big David Lee Roth Van Halen fan and he is the GOAT in the Frontman job BUT Sammy Hagar kind of beat him in a couple of albums and I’m saying this really difficultly
And then Sammy blew him out of the water
I love all Roth VH albums except 1984. I'll Wait is the only good song. VH1 and 2 the best ever VH albums
I agree! Although I love all of the Hagar stuff too. Two different vibes, same kickass band.
VHII is one of the best albums of all time.
I saw a very young V H in 1979 at The Toledo Sports Arena on the Running with the Devil tour, one of the best shows I've ever been to.
He simply looks and sounds amazing…. Back to the coolest dude on the planet!
Probably one of the greatest frontman of all time in music history.
He's more of a pure singer here than I thought he had in him. Pretty entertaining. Think Howard felt overwhelmed with Roth as a guest whenever he came on the show.
Dave has such an awesome voice and stage presence. Absolutely brilliant!
Diamond Dave we love you. Best rock shows I ever saw... Thank you
DLR is the one of the best frontmen ever 🤘🏾
Wow!!! They are nailing these tunes. Sounds great!!!
Dave is groovin, First saw him 1982 at Dane County Coliseum, Madison Wis. That was all I needed, seeing Eddie play and Dave in his prime. Same year as US Festival. I have followed them everywhere.
Dave and his boys sound fantastic! What an honorable performance.
WOW! 20 years ago! Time zooms by! Nice throw back!
I saw Dave with this band several times. They put on a great show every time!!!
A true rock and roll treat!!!🤘🏾🎸🎶🤘🏾🎸🎶
Love you, Dave. Freaking awesome.
Phukin legend. His backup dudes hit the backing vocals with perfection.
Dave was mesmerizing.....he just was.
Dave being dave, love it, I'm a long time fan
I'm so loving this.....love you dlr
I love David lee roth
true meaning of artist adaptation...
Sir David 👑, leaving no flavor unsampled.
Rock On,
H.L.
🌙
James Lomenzo on bass. He's in Megadeth now.
Ray Luzier now with Korn on Percussion...
Came here to point that.
*_yup. What do you think of the new MEGADETH song?_* 👊🏻💀🤘🏻
And the guitar player reminds me of Marty Friedman lol
And former White Lion, let’s not forget that.
Fun acoustic setting- i love watching Ray play hand percussion! He is one of my favorite modern drummers
Gotta Love Diamond Dave!🔥✨
Great job.
David Lee Roth has always been one of my favourite rock`n roll singers/performers....
The Diamond is seriously shinnin!!! ...and looking as good as ever.
Fantastic performance from Diamond.
Yes ..More Ice 🍨 please!!This was awesome!!
Take a look at that band... Ray went on to play drums for Korn and James is currently playing bass for Megadeath!
Dave is Just Beyond Awesome,,what More can i say.
Every time I hear a VH song, it brings me back to some of the best times of my life 🤘
Same..I was a teenager all though the 80s..
Love the Roth Van Halen albums!
Great, thanks for sharing👍
That is talent and he knows it..
I believe his problem on stage was to 'fight' with the loud sounds from other instruments and other noises on the stage, hence he could not push his voice in the best way he could have done. This unplugged setting, you can enjoy his voice very much, he did those songs really well and comfortably in a low-noise setting.
Do you know about those things called "monitors" or even "in-ear-monitors"?
Also filmed very early in the morning, which is tough to get you’re vocals to a peak performance without extensive stretching and care.
@@YTOnceAgain Fun fact, Van Halen was the first band to use and popularise in-ear monitors on big stages.
@@cesarcros Interesting.
Nothing beats that Diver Down tour set list from 1982.
I saw VH on Fair Warning tour in Oakland CA. Diver Down in San Francisco and at the US Festival. Van Halen in their prime, they ruled the world. I also saw DLlR with Vai, Sheehan and Bissonette was pretty damn good too. Sadly things happen the way they do.
RIP Eddie
I saw Roth with his band too... Those were great times musically to be alive!
This is Great! You are so talented David Love you Brother!
David Lee was the sound of Van Halen. What a showman and talent. Still working it in 2002.
Not anymore
Sammy enjoys his little following of Van Hagar fans, but DLR IS Van Halen. Take no substitutes.
DLR was the business genius behind Van Halen, but Ed and Alex were the sound of Van Halen.
Running with the devil......I love that song
I can't stop smiling...Dave is great
David has real talent! Love him!💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️❤️
DLR is a national treasure.
I absolutely love David Lee and Howard. 2 of my fave men.
@Sammy Hagar Well hello there Sammy Hagar,,lol. I have 3 fave men.
@Sammy Hagar I can't play any instruments. But I love Ace Frehley. I loved watching and hearing him play his guitar, also loved his Spaceman outfit. Also loved Peter Criss on the drums.
Love it, Dave is rockin' it and he seems more in control and less amped now - healthy!
That is so good!!
I am more impressed that Dave can speak so many different languages. Dave is very good when he allows his voice to rest.
Still the greatest frontman of all time. Bow to the legend.
Always positive mood.. good Dave !
He seems like the real life coolest dude ever!!
I love me some David Lee Roth!
Good job DLR💯💯
What a great homage to the best band ever !
best?lol
Brian Young on guitar - he used to be in local bands in Ventura, CA. I grew up nearby in Ojai. He gave my best friend a few guitar lessons.
Great way to start my day 🌹💐🌹 ☕❤️ Rock and roll morning great video 🎶
When DLRs Sober he's a show stopper❤ Few can do it better, If Any!!! He can really sing. He's way more talented than meets the eye and not just a talent but a great leader!!! Love Ya DLR❤
Wonderful.
Fantastic , David Lee Roth !!
Incredible talent 😮 🤩
It is amazing how DLR comes up with this kind of stuff.
I am thankful I don't have a good ear and to me this sounds amazing I don't need perfection I need music
Great band love his wit
Probably the best frontman of any band ever. The energy and charisma are unmatched!
