Boykin Springs in East Texas 🌳

- We came to Boykin Springs in East Texas in April 2024. The temperature was in the 70's and the humidity was just right. There is a creek that runs along the hiking trail at this nature park. Some of the areas at the park by the trail recently underwent controlled burns. If planned carefully and managed properly, controlled burns are said to help restore the health of ecosystems. It can promote healthy forest growth and diversity as well as wildlife habitat. It can also reduce wildfire risk and control invasive plant species. On the other hand, there are some concerns that come with controlled burns as well such as air quality, health problems, risk of wildfires, cost and time, etc.
