Beautiful Campsites In The Angelina Forest Often Overlooked

- At the close of summer 2022 I found myself exploring public campgrounds in the Angelina Forest. Deep in the heart of the Texas Big Thicket there are several “hidden gem” campsites. I stumbled upon two of them on this journey, Boykin Springs and Caney Creek Recreation area.
I was quite surprised to find that there was an actually campground at Boykin Springs! When researching online the only real info about the place was that it was a summertime swimming hole. When I arrived I was very surprised to find that there was a beautiful yet completely empty campground that was complete with a modern shower facility! I did say, empty, not a single camper in site! This is truly a hidden gem of a campsite!
My next surprise was finding a developed campground on Google maps, Caney Creek recreation area, I was so excited to explore this location that was about as remote as you can get in east Texas but that excitement quickly turned to disappointment upon arrival only to find that the park seems to be forgotten to time.
Join me as I explore these two beautiful but forgotten public campgrounds in the Angelina Forest!

Thanks so much for checking these campsites out for us. I didn’t know about them, and will definitely be looking into them. Keep up the good work and have fun!
That is why I do what I do! thanks for your support and thanks a whole bunch for watching!
Wow! I bet at one time both of those locations, before they fell in disrepair, were really nice.
I think so too! it is a shame that the Cainy creek is so neglected! thanks for watching!
Hi Bob have you ever thought about having a meet up at a state park, We could take over a camping Loop and it'd be nothing but Dude RV viewers lol then have a meet and greet. I think it would be a lot of fun, just an idea I would definitely be there.
I am thinking about celebrating Ground Hog day ( my birthday )at Lake Whitney State Park this coming Feb
@@DudeRV My birthday is Feb 9th I haven't been to Lake Whitney yet, now that gives me a great reason to go, thanks.
@@MarkSmith-xg3dk That sounds like a great reason for us to visit! I need to re-shoot that one anyway as my last videos for there really are hard to watch! LOL! Reach out to me at DudeRVTexas@gmail and let's get this party rollin!
@@MarkSmith-xg3dk I just reserved site 028 for 02/02 till 02/06 I will be making the announcement either tomorrow or Sunday.
We will see you there sir. I booked the site right across the street from you, we will either roll in late Thursday night or first thing Friday morning. Dinner's on me Saturday I make a mean steak & brat.
Bob Barker I too like the idea of you having a following. I'm close to new Caney now. I'm headed to Eureka Springs Arkansas for the passion play. Then I'm coming back through on my way back to South Texas. I want to go to the Texas country reporter fair in Waxahachie next weekend (29'th). I also have to go to Denton for a night .
I sure would get my little red wagon and caravan or meet up with you and other fans. OriginAL
