    The Winspace T1500 Review is now available to Patreon Subscribers. patreon.com/hambini I appreciate not everyone will like the patreon subscription. Unlike others, this channel doesn't receive frames and bikes from mainstream manufacturers because they fear a public reaming and the ridicule (mainly in the comments!!!) that goes with it. Most of the frames and things like the scylon on the winspace have been purchased outright - that costs quite a lot as well as the legal expenses when the corporate shillbags try to sue me. I also hope that most will appreciate the increased level of engineering and technical info that this channel brings in comparison to the Shill Central. Apologies for the rant, I wanted to explain my reasoning.

    I recently purchased a Slc 2.0 from Winspace direct after shopping around and not wanting to pay $3500+ Us for a big brand frame. I took a chance on Winspace and have to say I am really pleased with the bike. It built up very easily and everything I needed was included. Ride quality and feel is great, you put the power down on climbs and it just goes. Mine built up with disc brakes at 15lbs even with cages, Garmin mount, etc. I plan on grabbing a t1500 when they’re back in stock. Also their customer service is great which is a major factor.

      I’m afraid Chinese companies will only gain mainstream attention and thereby sales if they are either promoted at GCN and the like or the (social) media landscape changes with a shift from magazines/big websites to smaller but in some cases more credible youtubers.
      The fact that Winspace etc are pretty much ignored by the mainstream cycling media just shows they are pushing their own agenda which doesn’t exactly serve the cycling community. A brand offering similar or even better quality alternatives to the big buck companies for a fraction of the cost should be on the front page of the mags and websites… Being able to buy a performance bike for a reasonable price would make the sport a lot more accessible.

    Thanks for another excellent review. Having grown up in the olden ways and days of steel frames that were made by craftspeople who actually cared about what they were doing, I guess I will consider Winspace if I ever wake up someday and get an urge to inflict a carbon fiber bike upon myself. And that white stuff showing on the inside of the frame tubes? That's just proof how excited the people are at Winspace about how well they make their products. Of course, I wouldn't lick that stuff if I were you. Unless you're into that sort of thing. Keep up the good work, as always.

  • @SinPhi666

    For people interested in getting an SLC 2.0 you really need to pay attention to the geometry. The stack and reach do not tell the full story. The effective top tube is a bit short for 'race' geometry so I got the 125mm stem on. I sized down from my 2011 Trek Madone SSL 56ck (back when it was Emonda shaped) after I crashed it. Ended up going for the 490, the 520 would have been close to the Madone 56 sizing. Got it set up and felt very cramped, gave a few rides and went back to give myself a trigonometry lesson. Seat tube angle and the 0 set back seat post were putting me way out front with my saddle choice. Got a 20mm setback and things are much better, shorter reach and more drop than my old fit with a much better ride (the hypers are probably helping with that).

    • @HFF2K
      @HFF2K Рік тому +2

      Agreed. I'm 178cm and I usually ride a 56 with 100mm stem. On the SLC in size 52 I needed a 120mm stem. However, it's a very comfortable bike to ride all day once it's set up right.

      You could ask for the BB face to be even remotely flat. Or some QC.
      If you haven't got a BB the likes of Hambini that is is rigid from one side to the other the frame will eat bearings and squeak because of it.
      Winspace uses customers and people with an online presence as a testing facility and advertisement, that is the next level stuff.

They've always seemed to be a manufacturer that has ups and downs with their engineering. Sometimes they're right about their guesses, sometimes they aren't. Sometimes they have shite manufacturing for their weird engineering, sometimes they don't. There are years of Cannondales that I've completely sworn off and some that look pretty attractive.

      I can send qll the info to Hambini, see if he wants to do a video about it. To be fair the customer service from Winspace has been top notch. This is a bug by Shimano saying the 12spd cassette is the same width as the 11spd, it is not. I tried a 11spd cassette and there is plenty of clearance. The issue is squarely a Shimano problem that the frame manufacturers will have to deal with.

    19:47 I have diagnosed this as well on some bikes, I had one particular cannondale with this. I honestly think it makes a HUGE difference in handling, getting the right preload is funky. The cannondale particularly would work properly but it would take about 2 or 3 rides for the system to break itself in. The other bikes would never end up working properly, ever. I would always get the knocking sound while breaking hard. Note that sprinting seemed severely compromised, as well as the cornering. Not good.
    I keep thinking the headset/bearing seats is the most underrated part of the bike, it will KILL a bike's soul if it's not precise. Not getting a Winspace after this 😂

I came to my favorite guys channels Hambini and Durian Rider for the solution. I agree that disc breaks are not acceptable on road race bikes and finding a current review of SLC frame here and realizing that it's been also ridden by Durian Rider and approved by sir Hambini - I'm now 100% convinced to buy exactly that frame in rim brake version. Further, equip it with an 11spd Ultegra Di2 groupset and either Hyper 35 wheels or just carry on with my DA C24's as a training option and Reynolds Assaults as a race one. Thank you, guys! Like many mature riders we are still sceptical about Carbon's strength and durability. After dozens of bikes (I currently have 14!)
