One VERY important detail (and maybe a deal-breaker for some users like me that want to shoot very long videos) is that the Insta360 creates a new clip every 30min BUT stops recording for 15 seconds before continuing on so, if you are trying to record an event that is 45 minutes, you will end up with a 15 second gap around minute 30.
@@arpeggio a musician that wants to setup a camera in the middle of the stage to capture a full concert and doesn't want to loose 15s of concert everytime the camera has to create a new file??? I would understand the question coming from anybody else... other than a musician!

Would need sepperate mics though… Not sure if this camera wil fit that purpose very well, you could of course press stop/rec buttom after 25 minutes in between songs, but probably the best things is the have multiple angles anyways

I have a 360 but looking at getting the GoPro. I had the 360 on a tripod that fell over on the first time out, scratched the lens and now looking at a cost of repair plus downtime. The GoPro doesn't need all of this because it has screen protectors which can be replaced at a reasonable cost unlike the 360 lens guards which are hard to get and cost much more. I also find that the 360 images and video are quite a poor standard (often pixelated) on the 360. I've seen hundreds of images on the 360 FB page with scratched lenses. The GoPro can have the lens cover swapped in an instant with a spare one, you have 4 in a pack and the GoPro costs a whole bunch less that the 360.
I own the Max as well as the One X. I edit exclusively on the app for both of them. Because of all the extra features offered for the Insta360 in my opinion it crushes the GoPro Quick app. As far as quality (video and sound) the Max is the dominating champion. The workflow as far as editing and exporting are so much quicker on the Insta360. Oh I agree with you about underwater footage from both. Trash. For me it's difficult to give up the Max's footage quality. So it will always remain in my camera bag. I have however began to use my Insta360 more often just because it's quicker to go from camera to finish product and my editing time is cut almost in half. LLWAV!!
Haven't tried the insta 360, but i have the Gopro MAX and love this camera. Colours are great, better than gopro 9 and sound is pretty good even in wind. Small and easy to use. Wound buu another in a heart beat.

I bought the Insta 360 last year and made some roadbike shots. I like it because it is easy to use and to mount on bike. I uploaded some videos on youtube but i still miss some editing techneques.
Could you go deeper into the not-working-well underwater issue? I thought they'd be no trouble in this kind of situation. What is it that you don't like?

Since I met the first Insta360 I had love at first sight. It has a ton of awesome options that I love. In the last month I have been researching the One X 2 and One R and in general I can say that they are in a tie, the One R wins by very little. However, I found several terrible comments about both cameras by users who bought them from via Amazon. They basically regret having bought it, the factory defects, lousy customer service, water protection failures and the like. I am a little worried about making the investment and having to regret it later. I've been looking at the Go Pro as it has experiences with various action cameras but I don't know what to do.
don't buy the insta, complete catastrophe. not even worth 30$ for what you get, the lens ultra fragile, the battery start dying the fist month, it will develop stutter and deformation of videos over time, and the app is complete scam bug.

Yeah I bought the One R and had so many issues with it. It would only ever record 5 to 30 minutes and I'd go about trying to record my outings on my ebike just to find out it only recorded 5 minutes of the whole trip

You have to manually adjust exposure on your phone in sunlit conditions. lol Also even after I managed to take footage it died when I used it in the water. Had it for five days. Waste of money. Lucky I bought through Best Buy. I read Instas direct service is just as trashy as the product.

Surprisingly it's not, the camera has a wind reduction switch which allows the camera's audio algorithm to focus on the sound source and reduce extraneous noise if wishing to vlog or record yourself speaking to the camera
Great comparison video! The ONE X2 looks pretty cool. I’ve been shooting a bunch of 360 content with the Max and absolutely love it! I mainly use Premiere to edit my videos together. What is a pain with the Max is you have to manually extract the ambisonic spatial audio file and sync the audio in Premiere to get true 360 spatial audio. That is because GoPro desktop PC app is incapable of doing that for some reason. Other than that annoyance, I generally get good results with the Max. Looking for the future camera releases!
Certainly a few pain points with the max software, I know GoPro for a long time didn't offer the "freeze-frame" feature on PC it was only available to mac users but all in all it's pretty rad

You didn't say which had better video quality. The shots in the forest in low light, the noise and compression for both were awful. Initially, for my Fusion, I used the Insta360 Studio and got used to it, but now the GoPro Viewer on desktop seems faster and easier (but only because I used Insta Studio first). The Max you don't have to stitch (like the Fusion) and just drop into the GP Viewer and viewing it on your desktop is way more accurate and faster to export it out!

Mine failed after being underwater for the first time. It was fully sealed and water got into one camera. Electronics continue to work except one camera. They said they would have to look at my camera in the USA to expidite, but they coordinated shipping so I have to send it back to the factory in Hong Gong to be looked it. I would stick with GoPro, they have much better desktop software. Insta360 desktop software is awful. Maybe I'll have a working unit by Fall.

I thought my gopro had a battery problem when I went snowboarding, a fully charged battery only lasted 10-15min. Now I know it was the cold temperature.
Why do you show your X2 on the footage labeled GoPro Max and vice versa at the start comparisons with HERO modes? Whats the correct way? Are the labels wrong or wrong video?
I’m showing you the footage captured hence if I’m filming with the max then the one X2 will be shown in the footage - the point is to show you the image quality the camera is capable of capturing
the applications for both are free however GoPro have just switched their mobile app to a subscription service whilst Insta360 still offers both desktop and mobile for free

insta360 is built for Apple products. I have a hero blk 7 and my go pro apps on phone and desktop dont seem to work anymore and updating gopro is complicated. Its a tough call on if i want to upgrade my oneX to a oneX2..or of i should switch to gopro.
I love all the Insta360 cameras over Go Pro with the One X2 my favorite. Love everything about it. I agree the device software for Insta360 is much smoother than Go App very easy and fast to learn and edit. @@ARRAHMANTV4U I think the picture are great the one X2 is the newest 360 they have and you see a slight increase over the one, onex and the OneR with the OneR still very popular as the one X2. If you prefer go pro look than the R is great. I love the feel and style of the onex2. Running time is 90 mins on the onex2 and spare batteries are $34 bucks not bad. The One R has normal batteries last about 45 mins but you can buy a booster battery for double the time which also has a belt in attachment so no case needed. As for the GO or GO2 battery not so long GO2 did improve however I don't have that one to give to much details. The GO's are not 360. If you can you can download the Insta360 app and chat and watch thousands of videos it has a great community. AMAZING VIDEO! I was wondering what could be more efficient for recording a longboard ride... both can offer a wider field of view, full body and so much of the environment in the shot... I have one question for you: IF the lenses get scratched/or broken, how easy is to replace them? Thanx!
Both become a paperweight if you scratch the lens as there is NO way to get them repaired! However, if you sign up to GoPro Plus then one of the benefits is being able to replace your device twice a year if it gets damaged (no questions asked) for a small excess fee.
@@paineys3341 You should be able to send your Insta360 in for repairs, but it won't be cheap. From what I've seen from other YTers, it was around $150 to replace a One X lens so I would assume the same for the X2. Or you could also try to buff it out like others have done, with varying degrees of success.
Any selfie stick with a 360 camera can be made invisible as long as the connection to the camera is clean (no extruding parts) - invisible is just the 360 camera rendering out the stick so yes, you can use the Insta360 selfie stick with the max or the max grip selfie stick by GoPro with Insta360
Any chance you know the run time of both? I paddle board race and I put it on the front of my board and edit after the race. I used to get an 1.5hrs full run time with my GoPro, and I still do with my current 7 black, my Insta360 one R goes off when it decides. Any idea about this?

Cool comparison, but I think now you're gonna change your mind after Protune has been taken down from the GoPro app. This is the worst move they could ever make, so I've been seriously thinking of switching to One X2. Thanks for the vid!

Someone who say that the GoPro app is better than the Insta360 is clearly biased, or really don’t have a clue. I’m sorry, but there is no comparison between both cameras. One X2 is just better in any way, image quality, stitching, battery life, form factor, better one lens video too. And most importantly Insta360 is constantly updating the app and the camera fixing problems and incorporating new features. If you want to do a good comparison try to be honest, don’t worry GoPro will keep sending you free stuff

I find it hard to focus on the trail and overall observation when I go higher speeds and in the same time thinking if the camera is facing where I want it to. So I am looking for 360 camera. I have the gopro membership so that's pushing me on getting the Gopro Max. Just found out it can use the invisible Insta360 stick which is great. Your intake on quality (sound and video) pushes me towards the Gopro, also the simplified editing. I was going to ask if you could look at some videos of mine and give a hint which camera should I go with.. But I think I just answered myself in this comment 😂 New sub! My friend, you talked for 10 minutes and didn't review the VIDEO QUALITY! (Actually, I bailed on the 8th minute). A camera review should focus on video quality, stabilization, real-world battery life, low-light performance, 360 stitching, etc. That's what people want to know, everything else is secondary.
Bru you watched for 8 minutes and couldn't work out via the multiple VIDEO comparisons if you liked either camera?? These are action cameras so low-light isn't really a talking point, 360 stitching is all done via the apps, WHICH IS IN MY OPINION THIS BIGGEST DETERMINING FACTOR! hence why I spent the most time on it. The fact that you cannot input values to match reframe angles in the GoPro Player makes it IMPOSSIBLE to match views when you have to join two different clips. On top of that, the GoPro Player in windows is totally useless if you don't have a powerful graphics card with HEVC encoding and decoding.
For exact values I would be using Adobe Premiere Pro to reframe with the gopro plugin rather than 'gopro player' and in regards to windows, I totally agree, they have certainly designed the app for mac users

The sound from the go pro is similar to the sound from the buttonhole - "dense". The sound from insta seems to be more "transparent"."

Which one does better in cold weather? My hero 9 turns off after 10min in Utah, then won’t power on again unless I put a new battery in.

At 2:19 your cameras are switched with what they say they are. So, which one is which?

This day it was around 0 or 1 with high winds maybe bringing it down to -1
I thought my gopro had a battery problem when I went snowboarding, a fully charged battery only lasted 10-15min. Now I know it was the cold temperature.
Why do you show your X2 on the footage labeled GoPro Max and vice versa at the start comparisons with HERO modes? Whats the correct way? Are the labels wrong or wrong video?
I’m showing you the footage captured hence if I’m filming with the max then the one X2 will be shown in the footage - the point is to show you the image quality the camera is capable of capturing
does the ipad come under the mobile version of the insta 360 app?

the applications for both are free however GoPro have just switched their mobile app to a subscription service whilst Insta360 still offers both desktop and mobile for free

I think it should be fine, editing the content might be a little trickier ;) the longer the clips the more post production you've got to apply

insta360 is built for Apple products. I have a hero blk 7 and my go pro apps on phone and desktop dont seem to work anymore and updating gopro is complicated. Its a tough call on if i want to upgrade my oneX to a oneX2..or of i should switch to gopro.
I love all the Insta360 cameras over Go Pro with the One X2 my favorite. Love everything about it. I agree the device software for Insta360 is much smoother than Go App very easy and fast to learn and edit. I can not stand the pc version for Insta360 and Thanks to you I'm gonna try the Go Pro for the PC soon Thanks for a great review.

@@ARRAHMANTV4U I think the picture are great the one X2 is the newest 360 they have and you see a slight increase over the one, onex and the OneR with the OneR still very popular as the one X2. If you prefer go pro look than the R is great. I love the feel and style of the onex2. Running time is 90 mins on the onex2 and spare batteries are $34 bucks not bad. The One R has normal batteries last about 45 mins but you can buy a booster battery for double the time which also has a belt in attachment so no case needed.
As for the GO or GO2 battery not so long GO2 did improve however I don't have that one to give to much details. The GO's are not 360. If you can you can download the Insta360 app and chat and watch thousands of videos it has a great community.

Both become a paperweight if you scratch the lens as there is NO way to get them repaired! However, if you sign up to GoPro Plus then one of the benefits is being able to replace your device twice a year if it gets damaged (no questions asked) for a small excess fee.
@@paineys3341 You should be able to send your Insta360 in for repairs, but it won't be cheap. From what I've seen from other YTers, it was around $150 to replace a One X lens so I would assume the same for the X2. Or you could also try to buff it out like others have done, with varying degrees of success.

what about the selfie stick for GoPro Max... is it the same with insta360 INVISIBLE STICK?
Any selfie stick with a 360 camera can be made invisible as long as the connection to the camera is clean (no extruding parts) - invisible is just the 360 camera rendering out the stick so yes, you can use the Insta360 selfie stick with the max or the max grip selfie stick by GoPro with Insta360

Any chance you know the run time of both? I paddle board race and I put it on the front of my board and edit after the race. I used to get an 1.5hrs full run time with my GoPro, and I still do with my current 7 black, my Insta360 one R goes off when it decides. Any idea about this?
No idea about the full run time brother, I have heard though that a new firmware update is scheduled to come out very soon for the One R :) should be awesome

have you installed GoPro labs? It gives you access to all of the ProTune settings + more via the labs portal or QR code app
@@JakeRichandAnnaChah I haven't really. Gotta try it out. But does it let you access Protune in the Photo mode? I really need it there and I know I can't access that with The Remote (as it only allows using Protune for video as far as I know).

Someone who say that the GoPro app is better than the Insta360 is clearly biased, or really don’t have a clue. I’m sorry, but there is no comparison between both cameras. One X2 is just better in any way, image quality, stitching, battery life, form factor, better one lens video too. And most importantly Insta360 is constantly updating the app and the camera fixing problems and incorporating new features. If you want to do a good comparison try to be honest, don’t worry GoPro will keep sending you free stuff

I got the same exact feeling from his video, if you look at the details in his comparisons the X2 clearly has the upper hand yet he somehow prefers the Gopro. Go figure...

Hey dude, great video! Now, I am looking to better my videos, and in my case I have Hero 9 which is great, but... I find it hard to focus on the trail and overall observation when I go higher speeds and in the same time thinking if the camera is facing where I want it to. So I am looking for 360 camera. I have the gopro membership so that's pushing me on getting the Gopro Max. Just found out it can use the invisible Insta360 stick which is great. Your intake on quality (sound and video) pushes me towards the Gopro, also the simplified editing. I was going to ask if you could look at some videos of mine and give a hint which camera should I go with.. But I think I just answered myself in this comment 😂

My friend, you talked for 10 minutes and didn't review the VIDEO QUALITY! (Actually, I bailed on the 8th minute). A camera review should focus on video quality, stabilization, real-world battery life, low-light performance, 360 stitching, etc. That's what people want to know, everything else is secondary.
Bru you watched for 8 minutes and couldn't work out via the multiple VIDEO comparisons if you liked either camera?? These are action cameras so low-light isn't really a talking point, 360 stitching is all done via the apps, WHICH IS IN MY OPINION THIS BIGGEST DETERMINING FACTOR! hence why I spent the most time on it. Peace
Also stabilization mustn't be talked about in 360 cameras. There is no better stabilization out there.
The fact that you cannot input values to match reframe angles in the GoPro Player makes it IMPOSSIBLE to match views when you have to join two different clips. On top of that, the GoPro Player in windows is totally useless if you don't have a powerful graphics card with HEVC encoding and decoding.
For exact values I would be using Adobe Premiere Pro to reframe with the gopro plugin rather than 'gopro player' and in regards to windows, I totally agree, they have certainly designed the app for mac users
