Let's say we've already generated a song and it's starts immediately with the verse, how do I go back into the same song and insert an instrumental intro before the first verse starts? Doesn't seem to work as it started to regenerate something else different from that first completed one... although it says "continue".
Current version of Suno does not allow that. But the Suno team is working on "paint-in" which could do what you describe. So hold on to your song, because it will be possible in the future. I don't know when though 😉
Yes, it's either a bug, or they changed that. I already reported that but didn't receive an answer yet. But they are so busy so I assume they have to set priorities ;)

Do the square brackets really work? I have some songs where the singer actually sang what was in brackets as lyrics!
Yes they really do. But if you put in things it doesn't recognize, it sings it.

What is a good way to make it pronouce words better like a shortening of a work?
Sometimes you will have to write it phonetically. That is the only solution atm.
