Hi Paul that fox is gorgeous. Can't wait to try painting this little guy. I love foxes. Keep going and God bless your work and you and your family. Thank you so much. Susan
I thought this might help someone who wants to follow along with his tutorials. Paul is SO very generous by posting his sketches on his website for us. I recently discovered I can print onto watercolor paper. The printer is a factor (you for sure need a back side paper feed), but I have a super cheap one I got at Walmart (Canon TS 3322) and not only does it run a single sheet of 140# watercolor paper just fine, the ink is waterproof. It also has a scanner so you can use your own sketches as well. I did several yesterday of different sizes (it's literally one click to change the size so fast and easy), printed monochrome at draft quality and it gave me soft grey outline just perfect. This is a major game changer for those of us practicing. The only bad thing is that I can't print larger than 8.5x11 size.. but that's no problem for me.
@@ArtbyPaulClark I actually bought 90# because I had my doubts but it zipped right though so I grabbed some 140# because YOLO and had no issue. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the pad of 90# lol, thankfully it's at least cotton.
@@ArtbyPaulClark BTW, I called my local office supply store who has a print shop and they said they can do 140# in larger sizes.. my particular one can go up to 11x17. They said it was only laser though...but that is typically waterproof. Inkjets depend by pigment type/manufacturer. Dye inks are not WP.
Thank you for everything that you do, you’re an amazing teacher. I respect you and all of your work very much! Blessings and best of luck in inspiring more people with your art!
Oh boy, I followed this tutorial today and was arrogant enough to think it looked "simple". Well, after creating what can only be described as a demon fox, I realise what looks easy is actually years of practice and skill! Beautiful painting, which I hope one day to be able to emulate!!
Doneeeee... OMG can't be more thankful to you Mr. Clark! Since I've started to follow your tutorials I've gained more confidence about my results, and that motivates to keep trying and learn more! ❤️
The instruction about doing the drawing well really paid off. Thank you for this lesson. My fox is lovely. I am really improving working through all of our 5 minute tutorials as well. Thank you Paul
Paul, I watch many different artists to get ideas and techniques. I find I come back to yours time and time again. Your presentation is fun, light and informative. Serious in the subject but entertaining in its presentation. Your work is brilliant. I look forward each week to what you are going to do next.
Thank you for you generosity in sharing your methods. Especially at a very difficult time for so many people. I am so glad you emphasise no right or wrong.
I started painting about 3 years ago. I have a few artists that I've been following on UA-cam for some now now, but I've only recently came across your channel. You've quickly become one of my favorites! I love how you explain everything so clearly and your videos are always so fun. I've learned so much in just a few short weeks. Can't wait to see more!
Hi Paul. You and I spent many happy hours together this weekend practising the techniques in this video. I am more than pleased with my results. I only began to paint last September. I would like to thank you sincerely for all the wonderful easy-to-follow videos you have made and for generously making them so freely available. It's a really great thing you have done.
I love this. Your use of colors bring him to life. I tried painting my daughters black and white dog. I tossed it. You have inspired me to give it another go. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this. I am here in 2023, frustrated and in tears over trying to use watercolors. This has been going on for years. I am a pen & ink gal, along with colored pencils. I just do not have a good relationship with paints. I love this, but am going to look at your other videos also to find a good starting point & to try again. Thank you!
All ur works r awe stuck sir. Ur hands n techniques r awesome. In one word u r teacher from heaven above. Looking forward to have more splendid works from u in new year n so on. U r a miracle in any aspirants lyf. Thank you so much for ur fantabulous 🎨.
I enjoy your tutorials immensely! Thank you for making them available to everybody! I have tried the fox yesterday, I totally loved the approach to use colours more losely, I feel that I need to "let go" a bit more when I paint to make it all more spontaneous. The picture in my profile is the end result! I love it! Thanks again 🖌🖌🖌
Paul, I enjoy watching you paint. Your style is professional and describe things so well...exceptional teacher. And live your sense of humor. How about a frozen river with grasses in foreground and a small tree as well. Hope to buy your brushes soon
Hi Paul - I just discovered your videos and they are exactly what I was looking for! Fun, colorful, a bit abstract and with humor! I am a professional contemporary metalsmith of 44 years and beginning engraver, just returning to sketching and watercolors after not doing much in2D for most of that time. Love Love LOVE your open looseness in applying color! I look forward to watching ALL your videos.
Thank you for your tutorials. They are so helpful. Two of my children complimented me on the fox drawing on my paper, ready for painting. I told them it we as a copy from you as I need to practice techniques. I am a new watercolor painter. I love the medium.
Amazing. Watching you paint is mesmerizing. I’ve learned so much in the last months. I binge watch your videos for inspiration. You’re a great teacher. Will attempt this tomorrow.
Thank you soo much for this foxy fox, Paul. I simply love it! I gave it a try..it's not half as beautiful as yours...but I spent a great afternoon painting and learning.
Terrific once again, I have learnt so much from your tutorials, never painted animals before so keen to give it a go. The thing I need to learn is to stop and not overwork, as a signwriter more than 50 years ago I tend to fuss too much. These lessons keep me going during this crazy time. Take care.
I'm typically drawn to your style of watercolor (semi loose but structured?), but I also greatly appreciate illustration both realistic and animation style, classic botanical studies... and I recently discovered an artist who does "watercolor pouring" with masking/stencils/lifting that produces the most amazing work. It's wonderful that everyone can do their own techniques.
Hi! love this technique you use scrapping the paper, not easy to do but with practice and good quality the paper, I´ll try, thanks for your awesome tutorials. Keep safe.
I look forward to Wednesdays for your amazing (and funny) tutorials. Thanks great info, many thanks. I've not found a printer that can print 140lb so that's really useful - I'm going to look into it!
I use a light box to trace a picture/drawing, which I discovered using at a watercolor class I took a few years ago.
