That was the BEST 17:26 I have ever spent, I was using all the wrong inks for my projects and wondering what i was doing wrong. Brilliant, thank you from the bottom of my crafting heart, I was blaming the stamps me and now I went into my ink pad draw and my life has changed. love from a very happy stamper.
Wow, This is so great to hear! Make sure to check out our other videos on common mistakes you could be making when die-cutting and using alcohol markers!
Thank you for explaining in easy terms, the differences between the inks and papers used. I really appreciate the tip regarding the preparation of stamps with a simple tool such as an eraser. Gold nugget. 😊😊
Thank you so much for this video! I never stamp bec images never look crisp. I didn’t understand the differences in the types of ink either. Now I will try again using your tips. Excellent video!
Great tips as much as I think I know I learn more everyday with techniques that for a longtime crafter like me finds simple to learn but has not - especially the technique with the 3 stamps of different dimensions- I never thought to ink one at a time 😮😊
Hi Lou, So many hints and tips in one video. Had a conversation today with a friend regarding all you addressed and low and behold youve solved each one. I can now stamp with confidence. Youre a diamond.Thank you as always. X
This video changed my whole attitude towards stamping. Thank you, thank you, thank you! In my over-enthusiastic first response to discovering what stamping can produce, I went wild and purchased a bunch of stamps and had not even tried them. So, a couple weeks ago I decided I would go through and make a sample of each. But I quickly got discouraged because the images were so uneven. It never occurred to me that new unused stamps might have a coating. With eraser in hand, here I go! I'm now subscribed and will search for your other gems as soon as I have a spare moment from stamping!
@@CraftStashcoukTV yes I bought loads of stamps so it was a free. So great. Thanks for tip about inks too as only have Oxides at moment. It’s all new to me. Not really a card making but like doing Mixed Media stuff
I just wipe my new stamp with a baby wipe and it's good to go, no eraser needed. Also, I have a stamping tool that has an edge around the whole thing so you can put your paper right in the corner and it holds it there perfect. Thanks for the tips though!
@@CraftStashcoukTV is there a chance you could do something with mica powder? I bought some but don’t really know what to do. Also maybe making a DIY spray like the oxide but cheap diy version….
If you inked the stamp again with the distress ink it would have been a little more even but they do work well with stamping especially if you always to use different colours.
Yes, think that was something she missed or wasn't too clear on. I'm not a beginner but often don't do for a long time & I forget! I'm currently using original versafine & heat embossing it before I colour with promarkers and that works well. Think I'm right in saying that you need an ink pad that's made of the opposite to your colouring medium ie water-based for alcohol markers..but I do get mixed up with dye based etc! Don't know if that's helped but I tried lol
There's one in this series called common card making mistakes or thereabouts, it explains that Dye inks are for alcohol based colouring mediums (dye ink is water based so bleeds when in contact with water). Alcohol based inks, archival etc are for water based colouring (alcohol based colouring will result in stamped image bleeding) Pigment ink stays wet for a long time, good for embossing powder, can be used for stamping but requires drying before colouring and is water resistant but can still smudge with alcohol based colouring mediums
I find this video as a waste of time. Your problems are: you need better ink pads. Your's are probably dried out. And you should get rid of that plastic folder that you think will make good impressions. It's not helping your stamping. You don't need it.

Hi- great video. The water colour paper does not come up in the store link. Where can I find this?
How would you stamp inside a card?
Thank you for this video. This is very helpful. I’m fairly new to stamping! What wipes are you using on your stamps, please.
@BlessedtobeMimi. Most people use baby wipes that are alcohol free, you can purchase them in your local supermarket. 😊
@@donnad8361 thank you!!
I’ve been using a shammy with water. It’s reusable, so cheaper in the long run.

Are you using “pigment ink” or other in Memento ink?
I'm a beginner and have trouble with the stamps. I tend to get the ink on the flat part of the block as well and it goes on the card. 🤦
Also, I am unclear on what type of ink you should use when stamping an image you want to color in with alcohol or other inks
